Abstract

The research was carried out experimentally at the Non-Ruminant Livestock Laboratory, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Hasanuddin University from April to June 2019. This research aims to determine the effect of substituting fish meal with BSF larvae meal in the ration on the consumption of crude protein, crude fat and crude fiber in quail. 60 female quail were used in this study using cages measuring 90 x 60 x 30 cm. This research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications, divided randomly based on treatment as follows: P0 Ration without adding BSF larval meal, P1 = BSF larval meal 3.183% (6.67% crude fish meal protein) , P2=BSF larval meal 6.370% (3.34% fish meal crude protein), P3=BSF larval meal 9.565% (0% fish meal crude protein). The variables observed were the consumption of crude protein, crude fat and crude fiber in quail. The data obtained were then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. The results of the analysis of the effect of substituting fish meal with BSF larvae meal in the ration had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the consumption of crude protein, crude fat and crude fiber in quail.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of El Niño and La Niña on the productivity of broiler chickens in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. The research was conducted in June 2024 using data from broiler farms that implement a close-house system. The research method involved collecting broiler productivity data, including feed consumption, weight gain (WG), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), mortality, and Performance Index (PI), as well as climate data such as temperature, rainfall, and humidity.The results showed significant differences in broiler productivity between the El Niño and La Niña periods. During La Niña, feed consumption (0.098 kg/bird/day) and WG (0.063 kg/bird/day) were higher compared to the El Niño period (0.088 kg/bird/day and 0.057 kg/bird/day). FCR remained stable (1.5) in both conditions, indicating consistent feed conversion efficiency. Mortality was slightly higher during La Niña (5.11%) than El Niño (4.80%). The Performance Index (PI) was higher during La Niña (393) than El Niño (360), indicating better overall productivity.  Multiple linear regression analysis showed that climate variables (La Niña intensity, temperature, rainfall, and humidity) did not significantly affect the PI. A SWOT analysis identified an offensive strategy as the optimal approach, leveraging the strengths of the closed house system and the growing market opportunities. The conclusion of this study indicates that although there are productivity differences between El Niño and La Niña periods, the use of closed-house technology helps maintain production stability. This research highlights the importance of technological adaptation in addressing climate variability to sustain broiler farm productivity. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of substituting fish meal protein with BSF maggot meal protein on the intestinal length of quail. This research used 60 female quail that were kept from 1 week old in a battery cage measuring 90 x 60 x 30 cm made of bamboo and ram wire. This research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of four treatments and five replications, divided randomly based on treatment as follows: P0 Ration without adding BSF Maggot flour, P1 = BSF Maggot Flour 3.183% (6.67% crude fish meal protein) , P2=BSF Maggot Flour 6.370% (3.34% fish meal crude protein), P3=BSF Maggot Flour 9.565% (0% fish meal crude protein). The variables observed were the length of the duodenum, total length of the jejunum and ileum. The data obtained were analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 25 software. The results of the analysis showed that the substitution of fish meal protein with BSF maggot meal protein had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the length of the quail intestine including the duodenum, the longest being P3, P1, respectively. P0 and P2. while the best total lengths of the jejunum and ileum are P2, P1, P0 and P3.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh substitusi protein tepung ikan dengan protein tepung maggot BSF terhadap panjang usus burung puyuh. Penelitian ini menggunakan 60 ekor burung puyuh betina yang dipelihara sejak berumur 1 minggu disebuah kandang batteray yang berukuran 90 x 60 x 30 cm yang terbuat dari bambu dan kawat ram. Metode penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan lima ulangan, dibagi secara acak berdasarkan perlakuan sebagai berikut: P0 Ransum tanpa penambahan tepung Maggot BSF, P1=Tepung Maggot BSF 3,183%(6.67% protein kasar tepung ikan), P2=Tepung Maggot BSF 6,370% (3.34% protein kasar tepung ikan), P3=Tepung Maggot BSF 9.565% (0% protein kasar tepung ikan). Variabel yang diamati adalah panjang duodenum, total panjang jejenum dan ileum. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan software IBM SPSS Statistics 25. Hasil analisis menunjukkan substitusi protein tepung ikan dengan protein tepung maggot BSF berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0.05) terhadap panjang usus burung puyuh meliputi duodenum, secara berturut-turut paling panjang adalah P3, P1, P0 dan P3.

Abstract

Pakan merupakan faktor utama dalam keberhasilan usaha peternakan, terutama dalam menjamin ketersediaan nutrisi yang cukup bagi ternak sepanjang tahun. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi keterbatasan pakan hijauan pada musim kemarau adalah teknologi pembuatan silase. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada peternak dalam pembuatan dan pemanfaatan silase sebagai pakan alternatif yang berkualitas. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Lombang Kec. Malunda Kabupaten Majene dan melibatkan peserta dari kalangan peternak serta masyarakat umum yang memiliki minat dalam bidang peternakan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi 1) koordinasi dan persiapan dengan pihak desa dan kelompok peternak untuk menyusun waktu, tempat, serta kebutuhan kegiatan; (2) penyusunan materi pelatihan yang mencakup teori dan praktik; (3) pelaksanaan pelatihan dengan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi langsung pembuatan silase; (4) diskusi dan evaluasi untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman peserta; serta (5) pendampingan dan monitoring pasca pelatihan guna memastikan penerapan teknologi silase secara berkelanjutan.. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam membuat silase dengan pemanfaatan bahan baku lokal yang mudah didapat. Selain itu diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan ketahanan pakan bagi peternak serta mendorong inovasi dalam manajemen pakan ternak berbasis sumber daya lokal.

Abstract

Pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat Desa Salumaka dalam pencegahan stunting serta memanfaatkan potensi lokal sebagai sumber pangan bergizi. Kegiatan dilakukan melalui sosialisasi pencegahan stunting kepada ibu hamil dan menyusui, disertai pembagian susu dan bubur sebagai dukungan pemenuhan gizi tambahan. Selain itu, dilaksanakan pelatihan pembuatan produk olahan berbasis ikan air tawar yaitu nugget ikan yang kaya protein dan bermanfaat untuk pertumbuhan anak. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta tentang pentingnya gizi seimbang dan peluang pemanfaatan potensi lokal menjadi produk bernilai ekonomis. Program ini diharapkan mampu mendukung upaya pemerintah dalam menekan angka stunting sekaligus mendorong kemandirian ekonomi keluarga.
