Abstract

Analysis of coastline changes in Mekkata Village from 2013 to 2023 was conducted using the baseline of the nearest coastline to the mainland. This baseline was used as a reference point for transects measuring changes. The shoreline encompasses the coastline during the research period. Net Shoreline Movement (NSM) was employed to differentiate between erosion and accretion in the study area, showing an average shoreline change value of -9.72 meters towards the mainland, indicating predominant erosion. According to DSAS, it is observed that the coastline of Mekkata Village experienced erosion along 41 transects, while 31 transects exhibited accretion, highlighting significant changes. The most notable erosion area was identified along transects 60, 61, and 62, indicating consistent land reduction. Meanwhile, the most accretion-prone transects were 11, 12, and 13, signifying substantial land addition. The predominant erosion process is suspected to be influenced by the gentle slope of the coastal area and the composition of sand material. Human activities such as deforestation and river mouths also contribute to erosion. The absence of coastal protection structures allows direct waves and currents to impact the shore, potentially causing erosion. Meanwhile, accretion areas around river mouths indicate the formation of emergent land or deltas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memetakan prediksi area potensial penangkapan ikan pelagis di perairan Kabupaten Pasangkayu menggunakan citra satelit Aqua MODIS. Data suhu permukaan laut (SPL) dan klorofil-a dari satelit ini diolah untuk mengidentifikasi zona penangkapan yang optimal. Metode penelitian meliputi pengumpulan data SPL dan klorofil-a dari database NASA, analisis data menggunakan perangkat lunak SeaDAS 9.0.1 dan ArcGIS 10.7, serta pemetaan daerah potensial penangkapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa suhu permukaan laut berkisar antara 26°C hingga 30°C dengan variasi musiman yang signifikan, lebih tinggi pada musim timur (Juni-Agustus) dan lebih rendah pada musim barat (Desember-Februari). Konsentrasi klorofil-a berkisar antara 0,3 µg/L hingga 20 µg/L, dengan nilai tinggi di area dekat pantai yang menunjukkan produktivitas primer yang mendukung keberadaan ikan pelagis. Pemetaan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar zona potensial penangkapan berada dalam radius 12 mil dari pantai, dengan konsentrasi klorofil-a yang tinggi dan suhu permukaan laut yang mendukung.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the vulnerability to tsunami disasters in Mamuju District, West Sulawesi, using remote sensing technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Mamuju District is at high risk of tsunamis due to its coastal location and its position between active tectonic plates. The analysis utilizes five main parameters: elevation, slope gradient, distance from rivers, distance from the coastline, and land cover. The GIS overlay analysis method is applied to map tsunami hazard zones, combining weighting and scoring for each parameter. The results indicate that 3% of the area has very high vulnerability, 7% of the area has high vulnerability, while 82% of the area has low to very low vulnerability. Areas with very high vulnerability include the coastal zone directly adjacent to the shoreline and residential areas. This study is expected to serve as a reference for local governments and disaster management agencies in efforts to mitigate and plan safer spatial arrangements against tsunami threats. Mitigation strategy recommendations include the construction of evacuation routes, safe shelters, and the regular enhancement of disaster education and simulations for the community. Furthermore, this research encourages the use of mountainous areas as primary evacuation zones and collaboration with research institutions for the development of more innovative mitigation technologies.

Abstract

Evaluasi dan tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan hutan mangrove di Pulau Karampuang Kabupaten Mamuju. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi tingkat partisipasi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove di Pulau Karampuang kabupaten Mamukju. Kegunaan penelitian diharapkan dapat memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat dan pihak – pihak terkait lainnya sebagai bahan pertimbangan dalam mengambil kebijakan pengelolaan ekosistem mangrove. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu menggunakan kuesioner. Data mengenai faktor internal yaitu karakteristikin dividu peserta dalam pengelolaan mangrove di kawasan wisata mangrove yang dilakukan dengan mengisi kuesioner dan wawancara. Hasil Partisipasi masyarakat terhadap kriteria 76,66 % memiliki tingkat partisipasi yang tinggi dengan menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata- rata skala linkert menunjukkan rentang positif. Sementara 23,33 % kriteria menunjukkan tingkat partisipasi yang rendah dengan nilai rentang negative, dengan kata lain sebagian masyarakat menganggap bahwa mangrove tidak memiliki manfaat bagi masyarakat Pulau Karampuang

Abstract

The strategy for processing and marketing agricultural, livestock and fishery products is an important effort to increase household income, especially in rural communities. This outreach identifies various innovative processing methods, such as drying, canning, and value-added processing, that can improve product quality and marketability. In addition, effective marketing strategies, including direct marketing to consumers through digital platforms, product exhibitions, and cooperation with local stores, are also outlined. This community service activity aims to improve household income in Bonda Village, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province. This service is to provide education about methods of processing and marketing products from the agricultural, livestock and fisheries sectors to increase family income. In this service, the approach used includes surveys and case studies. The survey was carried out to collect basic information regarding the knowledge and processing and marketing practices carried out by farmers, livestock breeders and fishermen at the research location. Next, case studies are used to explore examples of successful implementation of efficient strategies in several communities. The findings from this service indicate that the application of appropriate processing methods and effective marketing techniques can increase product sales and household income. It is hoped that these results can provide guidance for business actors in maximizing the potential of local products and improving the economic welfare of the community

Abstract

This study aims to determine the extent of the distribution of mangrove forests in the last 5 years starting from 2017 – 2021. This research was carried out for 1 month, from 1 – 30 April, 2022 on Karampuang Island, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. The method used in this study is the interpretation of Landsat 8 imagery for changes in the area of mangrove cover from 2017 – 2021 and the RGB color composite used is 563. The use of this composite is considered to be able to highlight aspects of the differences between mangrove forests and non-mangrove forests. The results of image interpretation also show a reduction and increase in area from 2017 to 2021. The area of mangrove forests on Karampuang Island fluctuates, namely in 2018 there was an increase in area of 2.16 ha in 2019 there was a reduction in area of 9.02 ha in 2018. In 2020 there will be another reduction of 0.2 ha and in 2021 there will be an addition of 2.59 ha.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the rate of coastal abrasion and to formulate management strategies based on spatial and participatory approaches along the coastline of Wonomulyo District. The methods used include spatial analysis of shoreline changes from 2015 to 2025, field observations, and a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) analysis to develop adaptive and context-specific strategies. The mapping results reveal that a significant portion of the coastline has experienced considerable abrasion, particularly in zones 84 to 86, where the shoreline has shifted most drastically inland. The novelty of this research lies in the integration of spatial abrasion data as a primary foundation for constructing practical management strategies. Unlike previous studies that primarily focused on mapping and identifying vulnerable zones, this research advances a zoning-based approach that incorporates technical, ecological, and social considerations. Four main strategies are proposed: (1) ecosystem-based restoration of coastal vegetation; (2) reinforcement of physical structures collaboratively designed and maintained with local communities; (3) enhancement of community capacity through training and assistance; and (4) institutional collaboration among government bodies, academics, and local conservation groups. The study concludes that effective abrasion management requires an integrated and participatory approach. Key recommendations include the need for regular mapping, strengthening of local capacities, and inter-institutional synergy in efforts to mitigate coastal abrasion.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of El Niño and La Niña on the productivity of broiler chickens in Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi. The research was conducted in June 2024 using data from broiler farms that implement a close-house system. The research method involved collecting broiler productivity data, including feed consumption, weight gain (WG), Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), mortality, and Performance Index (PI), as well as climate data such as temperature, rainfall, and humidity.The results showed significant differences in broiler productivity between the El Niño and La Niña periods. During La Niña, feed consumption (0.098 kg/bird/day) and WG (0.063 kg/bird/day) were higher compared to the El Niño period (0.088 kg/bird/day and 0.057 kg/bird/day). FCR remained stable (1.5) in both conditions, indicating consistent feed conversion efficiency. Mortality was slightly higher during La Niña (5.11%) than El Niño (4.80%). The Performance Index (PI) was higher during La Niña (393) than El Niño (360), indicating better overall productivity.  Multiple linear regression analysis showed that climate variables (La Niña intensity, temperature, rainfall, and humidity) did not significantly affect the PI. A SWOT analysis identified an offensive strategy as the optimal approach, leveraging the strengths of the closed house system and the growing market opportunities. The conclusion of this study indicates that although there are productivity differences between El Niño and La Niña periods, the use of closed-house technology helps maintain production stability. This research highlights the importance of technological adaptation in addressing climate variability to sustain broiler farm productivity. Abstract

Permasalahan limbah organik dari dapur rumah tangga di Desa Saludarian masih menjadi sumber pencemaran lingkungan karena pengelolaan yang kurang efektif. Sebagai upaya peningkatan kesadaran dan keterampilan masyarakat, dilaksanakan sosialisasi pengolahan limbah dapur menjadi eco-enzim dengan metode yang praktis dan ramah lingkungan. Melalui kegiatan edukasi, praktik langsung, serta pendampingan proses fermentasi, warga Desa Saludarian diberikan pengetahuan tentang manfaat eco-enzim sebagai pembersih alami dan pupuk cair, sekaligus diarahkan untuk menerapkan inovasi tersebut dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Antusiasme peserta, utamanya ibu rumah tangga dan kelompok muda, menunjukkan keberhasilan program dalam mendorong perubahan perilaku dan budaya pengelolaan sampah mandiri. Sosialisasi ini diharapkan memperkuat upaya menjaga lingkungan sekaligus mewujudkan Desa Saludarian yang sehat, bersih, dan berkelanjuta

Abstract

Pakan merupakan faktor utama dalam keberhasilan usaha peternakan, terutama dalam menjamin ketersediaan nutrisi yang cukup bagi ternak sepanjang tahun. Salah satu solusi untuk mengatasi keterbatasan pakan hijauan pada musim kemarau adalah teknologi pembuatan silase. Kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan kepada peternak dalam pembuatan dan pemanfaatan silase sebagai pakan alternatif yang berkualitas. Pelatihan ini dilaksanakan di Desa Lombang Kec. Malunda Kabupaten Majene dan melibatkan peserta dari kalangan peternak serta masyarakat umum yang memiliki minat dalam bidang peternakan. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi 1) koordinasi dan persiapan dengan pihak desa dan kelompok peternak untuk menyusun waktu, tempat, serta kebutuhan kegiatan; (2) penyusunan materi pelatihan yang mencakup teori dan praktik; (3) pelaksanaan pelatihan dengan metode ceramah dan demonstrasi langsung pembuatan silase; (4) diskusi dan evaluasi untuk mengukur tingkat pemahaman peserta; serta (5) pendampingan dan monitoring pasca pelatihan guna memastikan penerapan teknologi silase secara berkelanjutan.. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki peningkatan pemahaman dan keterampilan dalam membuat silase dengan pemanfaatan bahan baku lokal yang mudah didapat. Selain itu diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat meningkatkan ketahanan pakan bagi peternak serta mendorong inovasi dalam manajemen pakan ternak berbasis sumber daya lokal.
