Abstract

This research aims to determine the motivation of housewives in participating in the Alquran tahsin program in West Sumatra. This research uses a qualitative research method with a phenomenological approach. In this study, researchers focused on discussing the motivation of housewives in participating in the tahsin program. Data sources were taken from twenty-five informants through in-depth interviews accompanied by documentation of activities. The informants were housewives who took part in the Quran tahsin program and two tahsin teachers. All interview results were then analyzed theoretically using software NVivo 12 qualitative analysis. The results of the analysis show that there are six motivations that come from within and outside the participants of the Alquran tahsin program. Housewives' intrinsic motivation can be seen from i) their own desire to be able to read the Alquran, ii) they feel they lack knowledge of the Quran, iii) they have never studied the Quran since childhood. Furthermore, the extrinsic motivation for housewives in participating in the Alquran tahsin program is: iv) the priority of people who are proficient in reading the Quran being gathered together with noble angels, v) being invited by friends, vi) learning methods that are easy for teachers to understand. This research has succeeded in revealing the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation of housewives in participating in the Tahsin Alquran program. The results of this research can be used as initial data for future researchers in studying this problem in different contexts and issues.

Abstract

Mental health crises among Generation Z are increasing due to digital, academic, and social pressures that contribute to anxiety, depression, burnout, and low psychological resilience. Psychological Capital (PsyCap), encompassing hope, self-efficacy, resilience, and optimism, has been shown to enhance mental well-being. However, existing PsyCap studies remain largely secular and have not extensively integrated Islamic spiritual dimensions, particularly within the context of Muslim Generation Z. This indicates a conceptual gap in developing contextually relevant mental resilience models. This study aims to develop a theoretical model of Islamic Psychological Capital (IPC) by integrating the PsyCap framework with Islamic spiritual values. It employs an integrative literature review approach, analyzing classical and contemporary books, as well as reputable national and international journal articles published between 2020 and 2025, selected for their relevance to PsyCap, mental health, and Islamic spirituality. Data analysis was conducted using thematic synthesis and conceptual mapping to identify structural relationships among key concepts. The findings reveal that PsyCap components correspond conceptually with Islamic values and can be integrated into four main dimensions: hope grounded in raja’ and tawakkal, self-efficacy based on ikhtiar, resilience rooted in sabar and ridha, and optimism derived from husnuzan and syukur. This integration produces the IPC model as a novel conceptual framework explaining the strengthening of Psychological Capital through the internalization of Islamic spiritual values. Thus, this study contributes to Islamic psychology by offering a contextual framework to strengthen the mental resilience of Muslim Generation Z amid modern disruptions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of students majoring in Islamic religious education towards technological skills and mastery of foreign languages as prospective teachers. This study used a quantitative research method with a survey approach. Data sources were taken using a questionnaire to fifty student respondents as prospective Islamic religious education teachers from four different universities on the island of Sumatra. All were then analyzed descriptively using SPSS software version 20. The results of the analysis showed that; i) in general, respondents agree that technology is a very effective medium in supporting the learning process, in fact, students as prospective teachers must master technology that can be integrated with learning. ii) further related to mastery of foreign languages, as a whole the respondents agreed that mastery of foreign languages for students majoring in teacher training can support their careers as professional teachers, besides that foreign languages are a tool for finding various sources as learning materials so teachers can be creative and innovate in learning process. The findings are initial information for future researchers in studying this problem in more or less the same context and issues
