Abstract

Educators should use different teaching methods to engage students in meaningful learning experiences and promote environmental awareness. This study sought to assess the manifestation of teaching styles and teaching performance in a technical school and identify areas for enhancement. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, teachers, students, and administrators were asked to complete questionnaires to provide data for the study. The results indicated that teaching styles and teaching performance components were highly rated, with teaching styles being frequently observed and teaching performance being excellent. Notably, there was no significant difference in responses from the three groups surveyed. To facilitate further improvement, the technical school is encouraged to identify relevant components for their specific context, establish core principles for each component, organize regular workshops and seminars, periodically evaluate performance to monitor progress and establish mechanisms for continuous development.

Abstract

This study was an attempt to investigate the dynamics of a phenomenon that happened in a self-service laundry shop. In the beginning, very few customers would patronize it. But little by little more customers began to frequent the shop and most of these were from the locality. The preference shift of customers was interesting. This situation was believed to reveal some findings that could be used in similar businesses. Qualitative was the method and specifically a case study. It made use of observations and informal interviews of two laundry attendants who have been in at least two years in the laundry shop, one maintenance personnel who has been present since the start of the establishment, and over five hundred regular customers. The observations and interviews revolve around the areas of concern at the start of the laundry shop, key characteristics of regular customers, reasons why customers made the preference shift from going with what they used to do towards availing the new service package, and the challenges encountered in the process of service delivery. Conclusions on the four areas of inquiry were; service value realization was slow and this influenced the initiatives that were made; customer satisfaction was dependent on price, service quality, and rapport and subsequently led to referrals; customers realized that it is more convenient to avail of the new service package, and competition served as a reason to improve service delivery; and sustained customer loyalty and organizational citizenship provide an environment for growth.

Abstract

This study was a response to unemployment, a pervading social problem. One of the solutions to the problem was the training of a workforce that makes them employable. To implement this solution, efforts from all sectors of society need to align. This study takes off from the vantage point of vocational training centers. Specifically, this was about the formulation and application of a technical curriculum implementation and evaluation framework. It identified curriculum implementation components and their subsequent details from actual curriculum-related practices of a group of vocational training centers. Components were identified through observations, informal interviews, and curriculum-related document reviews. Based on streamlined components, a survey questionnaire was made and was conducted to assess the levels of practice of identified curriculum implementation components in the training centers through the responses of technical directors and instructors. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test whether there was a significant difference between the ratings from the two groups of respondents. The following items were the conclusions. Curriculum implementation components were streamlined, formulating an alternative cyclical mechanism for vocational training curriculum implementation and evaluation. Competency transfer and competency assessment were emphasized due to their importance in a vocational training program. There was no significant difference in the responses of the two groups of respondents. Finally, it was found that the training centers can still improve at least a level in all components of curriculum implementation which implies the need for all training personnel to address areas of concern.

Abstract

This study was about the delicate balance between employee well-being and organizational productivity. On the one hand, if work demand was too high, employees would be too stressed, and organizational productivity would be affected. On the other hand, if a workplace is too relaxed, the business may not survive. An optimal combination of employee well-being and organizational productivity had to be addressed in equal terms. The method used to identify potential workplace stressors was qualitative in as much as it made use of observations and interviews with informants. The method used to determine levels of workplace stressor experience of employees was descriptive-quantitative. This study made use of employee work stressor experience as leverage to highlight its dynamics with employee welfare and organizational productivity. Work stressors in the context of a fast-food establishment were identified. Employees were given survey questionnaires to determine the levels of workplace stressor experience. One-way ANOVA was used to determine the significance of the difference between workplace stressors, and subsequently, areas of intervention were identified. The conclusions were the following. Role conflict, role ambiguity, work overload, working conditions, and workplace relationships were identified as potential workplace stressors based on fast-food operations and settings. Identified workplace stressors were experienced by employees at varying levels. There was a significant difference between workplace stressors. Interventions were to include all identified stressors beginning with the most prevalent, work overload. Areas of intervention included social and organizational support, employee stress-coping attitudes and skills, work performance abilities, and work-life balance.

Abstract

This study delves into the crucial theme of enhancing income-generating capacity, recognizing its pivotal role in meeting basic human needs and catalyzing prosperity within communities. The motivation behind this research lies in addressing this significant issue through the lens of microfinancing, a viable solution to the identified problem. Focusing on a group of microfinancing units strategically located in North Cotabato, Philippines, this study follows the experiences of personnel within these units. The integration of digitization into their operational procedures aimed to elevate service efficiency, providing a contemporary solution to the challenges faced. The research methodology employed was qualitative, utilizing purposive sampling to gain in-depth insights. Observations, interviews, and informal conversations with key informants, including loan officers, branch managers, and an area monitor, were integral to the inquiry. Both physical and electronic documents played a crucial role in enriching the data collected. Specifically, the study aimed to identify both digitized and non-digitized operational procedures, elucidate the experiences of microfinancing employees concerning these procedures, observe the effects of digitization, and pinpoint immediate improvements resulting from digitization. Key conclusions emerged from the study. Notably, loan processing was identified as the sole procedure yet to undergo digitization. The digitized procedures, encompassing data management, loan disbursement, repayment tracking, and financial reporting, demonstrated notable advantages, characterized by increased speed and reduced errors. Importantly, personnel satisfaction with digitized operational procedures witnessed a positive upturn. Identified improvements that underscore these findings include digitizing loan processing, optimization of loan officers' client-handling capacity, and fortifying institutional data security.

Abstract

This study explores the optimization of job performance by examining the interplay of work training, workplace relationships, and workload within the dynamic setting of a call center. The overarching goal is to gain a holistic understanding of how these three elements collectively contribute to fostering a positive impact on workforce productivity. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, the research employed a questionnaire to systematically collect data on the perceived positive effects associated with work training, workplace relationships, and workload on job performance. Following data collection, thorough analysis and interpretation were conducted to derive meaningful insights. To assess the significance of differences between the factors influencing job performance, a one-way ANOVA was applied. The study aimed to shed light on several key aspects, including the dynamics of the work environment concerning the identified factors affecting job performance, the levels of agreement among respondents regarding these factors, significant differences in responses, and implications for improvements. In conclusion, the study highlights that work training, workplace relationships, and workload positively influence job performance, as evidenced by responses from call center agents. However, it is noteworthy that all three factors were rated one level below the highest possible classification, underscoring the need for targeted interventions. Significant differences in ratings were identified among work training, workplace relationships, and workload. All three factors were considered for intervention, with a particular emphasis on workload, which received the lowest rating. This prioritization sets the groundwork for strategic improvements to elevate overall job performance in the call center environment.

Abstract

The study delves into the intricate symbiotic relationship between service providers and customers, which becomes increasingly complex amid competitive landscapes. It counts on the service provider’s capability to deliver exceptional service that fosters a unique customer satisfaction that not only encourages repeat patronage but also prompts referrals to others. The study sought to determine the presence of a correlation between the quality of service delivered by medical staff and patients' satisfaction levels by using the SERVQUAL model with 22 slightly modified indicators spread across five service quality dimensions that include reliability, assurance, tangibles, empathy, and responsiveness. The research was conducted within the confines of a hospital in Cebu. 314 patisents consented to participate in the data collection process. A survey was conducted to gather data on service delivery and another was conducted for patient satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis and Dublin-Watson test were used to compute correlations and Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to compute the significance of difference. The following items are the findings. The five dimensions of service quality are above average and the service quality rating in its entirety was 3.756. Patient satisfaction was above average with a rating of 3.131. All the service quality dimensions were statistically correlated with patient satisfaction. Service quality in its entirety was statically correlated with patient satisfaction. There was a significant difference between service quality in its entirety and patient satisfaction. Finally, the ratings suggest that improvements were needed in all service dimensions, and because of high patient expectations improvements are both necessary and urgent.

Abstract

Economic downturns represent an inevitable challenge that nations and businesses must confront, presenting considerable risks. As a result, it becomes imperative for them to formulate strategies to secure their survival. The world has recently experienced an economic downturn due to a pandemic. COVID-19 has caused a significant economic crisis, leading to job losses and disruptions across various sectors worldwide, including the Philippines. The study utilizes economic indicators to determine patterns, meanings, and subsequent opportunities. Specifically, the study sought to identify relevant economic indicators, find patterns and meaning within each indicator and among indicators, and determine implications from findings. Content analysis was used in the study. It is a qualitative research method to identify and interpret themes, meanings, and patterns. The materials used include eleven Philippine economic indicators, namely, the Philippine Stock Exchange Composite Index, Balance of Trade, Core Inflation Rate, Consumer Spending, Tourist Arrivals, Consumer Confidence, Consumer Credit, Gold Reserves, Foreign Exchange Reserves, and Money Supply M2, and Interest Rate. In conclusion, the study determined that the collective surge in economic activities is positively related to the rise of inflation; increased interest rates potentially mitigated the rise in inflation, and other factors negated the trade deficits and gold reserve fluctuations. The Philippine economy is on the path to recovery, and the unique interrelations of economic indicators imply a more stable environment in the Philippine economy. This signals a green light for investors and an opportunity for policymakers to fine-tune existing initiatives to sustain economic recovery.
