Abstract

Educators should use different teaching methods to engage students in meaningful learning experiences and promote environmental awareness. This study sought to assess the manifestation of teaching styles and teaching performance in a technical school and identify areas for enhancement. Utilizing a descriptive survey method, teachers, students, and administrators were asked to complete questionnaires to provide data for the study. The results indicated that teaching styles and teaching performance components were highly rated, with teaching styles being frequently observed and teaching performance being excellent. Notably, there was no significant difference in responses from the three groups surveyed. To facilitate further improvement, the technical school is encouraged to identify relevant components for their specific context, establish core principles for each component, organize regular workshops and seminars, periodically evaluate performance to monitor progress and establish mechanisms for continuous development.

Abstract

The construction industry in Cebu City is growing, but sustainability is essential, especially during times of crisis like the COVID-19 pandemic. Some businesses have not enhanced their sustainable practices to survive the new normal. The main objective of this study is to explore the triple bottom line of a construction company in Cebu City, Philippines. The study employed a descriptive-correlational research design, and the sample comprised 58 rank-and-file employees selected through a simple random sampling method. The collected data were analyzed, tabulated, and interpreted using various statistical techniques, namely weighted mean, and Pearson correlation coefficient. The study found that the organization placed a high level of importance on social and economic sustainability, while environmental sustainability was considered moderately significant. The relationship between these three variables was examined, and it was determined that they were positively correlated. The study's conclusion emphasized that balancing economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental preservation is crucial for long-term sustainability. Therefore, prioritizing these aspects can improve a company's performance and contribute to its long-term sustainability.

Abstract

This descriptive-correlational study aimed to identify the students’ awareness regarding their career interests and career readiness regarding the learning experience, learning outcomes, and pre-college experience of Grade 10 students at a private university in Cebu City. Using Slovin’s formula, there should be 206 respondents; however, 198 have participated. Also, several statistical treatments were applied to the study’s findings. The findings regarding the profile and the career interests of the students, as well as their age, gender, total income, parents' educational attainment, and occupation, found no relationship. Another finding regarding the profile and career readiness revealed that both the mother and father's age and educational attainment have a significant relationship. Career interest and career readiness have a solid positive relationship. Thus, the finding shows that the relationship between the two variables is solid, and it also indicates that interest will influence the student's career readiness and how ready they are to step up to the next level of their studies. The findings disclosed that the student's career interest is a significant factor (computed value 14.4) in pursuing their major field of specialization, primarily supported by their career readiness. The more the student is interested in a particular field, the more the student is ready to pursue his dream career. Based on the findings and conclusion, it is suggested that all grade levels should be given a career interest survey and ready to think, prepare, and choose what career path they need to take in the future. As much as possible, parents should also play a significant role in selecting the students' careers so that they can guide their students in what career is best suited for them.

Abstract

Economic downturns represent an inevitable challenge that nations and businesses must confront, presenting considerable risks. As a result, it becomes imperative for them to formulate strategies to secure their survival. The world has recently experienced an economic downturn due to a pandemic. COVID-19 has caused a significant economic crisis, leading to job losses and disruptions across various sectors worldwide, including the Philippines. The study utilizes economic indicators to determine patterns, meanings, and subsequent opportunities. Specifically, the study sought to identify relevant economic indicators, find patterns and meaning within each indicator and among indicators, and determine implications from findings. Content analysis was used in the study. It is a qualitative research method to identify and interpret themes, meanings, and patterns. The materials used include eleven Philippine economic indicators, namely, the Philippine Stock Exchange Composite Index, Balance of Trade, Core Inflation Rate, Consumer Spending, Tourist Arrivals, Consumer Confidence, Consumer Credit, Gold Reserves, Foreign Exchange Reserves, and Money Supply M2, and Interest Rate. In conclusion, the study determined that the collective surge in economic activities is positively related to the rise of inflation; increased interest rates potentially mitigated the rise in inflation, and other factors negated the trade deficits and gold reserve fluctuations. The Philippine economy is on the path to recovery, and the unique interrelations of economic indicators imply a more stable environment in the Philippine economy. This signals a green light for investors and an opportunity for policymakers to fine-tune existing initiatives to sustain economic recovery.

Abstract

This descriptive-correlational study scrutinized the operations management and senior high school students’ satisfaction with the canteen inside the Mabolo National High School. Also, the relationship between the two variables was explored. Four hundred eighty-nine (489) respondents were chosen conveniently to participate in the data gathering using a modified tool validated by the experts and obtained 0.7346 internal consistency. Weighted mean and Pearson correlation coefficient were employed to analyze the data and yield valuable findings. Findings unveiled that students were satisfied with the personnel's treatment, the proactive approach of the canteen to provide fresh and healthy products, the products being served, and the processes of the canteen to maintain a quality service. Also, the study found that the operations management practices of the canteen have a significant relationship to the students’ satisfaction. Improving operations management is critical in meeting customer needs and leading to satisfaction. Consequently, maintaining and enhancing customer satisfaction can be attained by ensuring that the quality of products, processes, employees, and proactive measures is exceptional. Furthermore, future researchers can pursue other variables, such as canteen facilities, food prices, food tastes, and food preferences, for future studies as they might influence overall customer satisfaction.

Abstract

The education sector is a linchpin of national development, and the financial well-being of educators is a vital component. As college instructors approach the end of their careers, feeling financially secure becomes a critical part of their long-term planning. Their stories and experiences are of profound importance; they have dedicated their lives to teaching and shaping future generations. Understanding what helps or hinders their financial confidence can help create better support systems, ensuring they enjoy a comfortable and secure retirement. College instructors, who dedicate their careers to shaping the minds of future generations, often face unique financial challenges. This study aims to explore the factors contributing to the financial retirement confidence of college instructors at a state university in Cebu, Philippines. Using a qualitative phenomenology approach, interviews were conducted with college instructors aged 57 to 65. The findings revealed that higher pension amounts and fewer dependents significantly boost retirement confidence, while financial obligations pose barriers. Themes like financial management, investments, professional development, and health investment were identified as crucial components for retirement security. The study concludes that comprehensive financial planning, including increased pension benefits and financial literacy programs, can enhance retirement confidence. It recommends that institutions support instructors through resources and programs for effective retirement planning. These findings contribute to understanding the multifaceted nature of retirement confidence and provide a foundation for further research across different educational settings.

Abstract

Teachers have a pivotal role in shaping students’ intellect by sharing knowledge and fostering critical thinking. Despite being perceived as resilient, they encounter struggles that impede their effectiveness due to overwhelming paperwork, classroom management issues, administrative responsibilities, and the nature of their work. As a result, one of the ways they cope to alleviate stress is by turning to coffee and making it a part of their routine. This phenomenology study explored the unheard narratives of public-school teachers’ frequency of coffee consumption, motivation, and impact on their daily routine. Ten (10) key informants were selected using purposive sampling to participate in the study. A structured interview guide was used and executed in a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) as an approach to data collection. The study revealed that the aroma, antioxidants, and warm feelings were the themes that drove teachers to consume coffee. Also, coffee provides an extra boost of energy, a brighter mood, and a sense of fulfillment as it is perceived to contribute to the daily routine of teachers. It is concluded that coffee secures a spot in the daily habits of teachers as it gives them the alertness and activeness needed to begin their day effectively. In addition, taking coffee breaks allows teachers to discuss their issues and difficulties while offering each other support. This fosters a sense of camaraderie over a cup of coffee, potentially resulting in solid friendships and forming a tight-knit teaching community, all for the benefit of the students.

Abstract

Youth leadership is essential for nation-building, providing early exposure to governance and community service. The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) offers young people a platform to take on leadership roles in local government, allowing them to engage in decision-making and implement youth-focused programs. The experiences of SK Presidents often extend beyond their official duties, featuring various challenges, opportunities, and personal growth. This study explored the lived experiences of leadership among the Sangguniang Kabataan Presidents of Pangantucan, Bukidnon. The researchers used narrative inquiry or phenomenology to highlight the exploration of the key informants' lived experiences to understand the issue.  It sought to answer the domains of inquiry: the lived experiences of the Sangguniang Kabataan officials on their leadership styles, the essence or meaning of their lived experience, and the factors that can improve or deteriorate their leadership. To collect data, the researchers used the descriptive-qualitative method. The study's eight key informants are the current SK President of Pangantucan, Bukidnon, where the study was conducted, and key informants who serve the public. The researchers were the primary instrument, a validated interview guide, and audio recordings were transcribed into written text. The researcher gathered significant statements from the outputs of the key informant interviews during data analysis, and five themes were generated. These themes served as feeders to the study's production. The study identified leadership challenges faced by key informants in the Sangguniang Kabataan of Pangantucan, Bukidnon. A proposed leadership model aims to address these challenges and promote effective governance in the barangay.

Abstract

All individuals, regardless of their level of education and employment status, should practice effective management of financial resources. This is essential for setting and attaining financial objectives and making prudent financial decisions. A case study was conducted to deeply analyze the money management practices from the lens of senior high school teachers at a public school in Cebu City, reflecting practices concerning budgeting, saving, spending, debt repayment, and retirement. There were ten key informants, five (5) from Grade 11 and another (5) from Grade 12. These individuals have qualified to be key informants in the study as they meet the inclusion criteria set by the researchers. During the data analysis, notable themes in every indicator were found: needs and wants, meeting financial obligations, using a piggy bank, creating reserves for debt settlement, and preparation for retirement through saving. This shows that despite facing ongoing challenges, these individuals still have the courage and full awareness to manage their money correctly, allowing them to make sound financial decisions. Understanding fundamental finance principles will enable educators to transform their budgets into actionable strategies, establish achievable savings targets, and prioritize repaying debts. This knowledge equips them to more effectively navigate financial hurdles like living expenses, healthcare costs, and planning for retirement. Furthermore, properly implementing effective personal financial planning can enable teachers to attain financial growth and security, leading to increased independence, reduced financial and emotional stress, and an enhanced quality of life.
