Abstract

Madinatul Ilmi Surowati Islamic Boarding School has mission to make its students successful preachers who have livestock businesses. Santri were also given facilities for raising goats and cows and were sent to school at SMK Muhammadiyah 5 Gresik in the Ruminant Livestock Department. However, the feed used tends to be expensive to achieve the desired quality and has not optimized local sources of feed ingredients. This can be caused by knowledge of feed raw materials and feed processing processes that are deemed inadequate to make feed. For this reason, the IPB lecturer team held community service with training methods on feed insights and innovative feeding practices, namely feed wafers. Evaluation is done by asking questions before and after the training so that the indicators of success are more measurable. The results show that there is an increase in the number of students who understand forage feed and feed wafers. After the training, the number of students who already understand the technique of giving feed wafers increased from only 5% before the training to 60%. After training. In addition, it is shown by the number of participants being motivated to explore various local feed ingredients to be used as ruminant feed.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to evaluate and analyze the effect of the level of protein content in feed on the superovulation response in cattle through a meta-analysis study. The meta-analysis study was performed with OpenMEE application and used scientific articles from international journals according to the topic of the study. The superovulation parameters used in this study were the number of corpus luteum, the number of collected embryos, the number of viable embryos, degenerated embryos, unfertilized embryos, and the proportion of viable embryos. The results of a meta-analysis of 37 research results in 20 scientific articles showed feed protein level had a significant effect on increasing the number of corpus luteum, collected embryos, viable embryos, and the proportion of viable embryos. Meanwhile, the feed protein level had no significant effect on degenerated embryos and unfertilized ovum. It could be concluded that an increase in feed protein content had a positive effect on several reproductive quality parameters. Key words: cow, embryo, feed, protein, reproduction, superovulation

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the role of broiler feed standards using the Analytic Network Processing (ANP) method. Data were taken from five feed manufacturing companies, three feed experts and three government institutions in the feed sector. There were 3 criteria and 6 sub-criteria in determining the best alternatif out of 6 feed evaluation in the context of implementing broiler feed quality and safety standards. The results showed that the greatest sub-criteria weight was effectiveness (0.750). In addition, the selected alternatif analysis with the highest weight was proximate analysis (0.315; 0.280) in the assessment by feed companies and the government and followed by amino acids analysis (0.365) in the assessment by feed experts. From the results, all entities assessed the proximate analysis as a priority because proximate testing on animal feed could help to determine the nutritional quality of feed by knowing the content of protein, fat, crude fiber, and other nutrients in the feed. This study was concluded that proximate testing was very important in the animal feed industry because it could help in determining the nutritional quality of animal feed, optimizing livestock growth and production, preventing nutritional deficiencies in livestock, determining the selling price of feed, and guaranteeing feed quality. Key words: ANP, feed quality and safety testing, feed standards, quality control and feed safety

Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate separation method to reduce the shells of palm kernel cake (PKC) and to optimize the extrusion process to increase the nutrient utilization. The sieving process was a method of separating two materials that had different sizes, both solid and liquid materials. The extrusion process variables used in this study were extrusion temperature and moisture content of PKC as optimization variables in the response surface methodology (RSM). The RSM design was central composite design (CCD) with 13 treatments and analysed with Design Expert version 13. PKC was separated from its shell by filtering it at a size of ≤0.600 mm and continued the extrusion process for 13 treatments using temperatures starting from 72 to 128 °C and moisture content starting from 22 to 78%. The main variable response was crude protein (CP), crude fibre (CF), and ether extract (EE). Based on statistical analysis, it was found that temperature and moisture content had a significant effect (p<0.05) on the mathematical model of the relationship between the independent variables (temperature and moisture content) and the best CP, CF and EE responses. PKC extrudate had a bulk density value of 420 kg m-3 and a total solubility of 24.11%. The conclusion of this study was that the optimal extrusion treatment at BIS was using 91 °C and 42% moisture content to produce the best chemical and physical qualities. Abstract

As a corn substitute, cassamore (Cassava – Moringa Mix) is an innovative local feed ingredient based on cassava with a mixture of palm kernel meal, cassava leaf flour and moringa extract processed by extrusion that can destroy antinutrients, improve nutrient content and digestibility. This study aimed to optimize the temperature and water content of the hydrothermal extrusion process, as well as to analyze the effect of extrusion on the physical and chemical characteristics of Cassamore as a corn substitution. The method used is response surface methodology in the statistical application of design expert 13 with extrusion temperature factors of 100, 110, 120 (oC) and moisture content of 16, 18, 20 (%). Further research was carried out for the physical and chemical properties of Cassamore using a complete randomized design (CRD). The results showed that the water absorption index value is significant (p<0.05) with the optimal value located at 100 °C and 20% moisture content, while the water solubility index value is not significant. The values of bulk density, tapped density, and angle of repose on Cassamore after being extruded were smaller than those before being extruded. The bulk density and tapped density values for Cassamore were below corn, while Cassamore's angle of respose was above the corn. Cassamore's specific gravity value after extruding under corn. Chemical properties (Ash, crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber) decreased after extrusion, but NFE increased after extrusion. It is concluded that Cassamore has a potency to replace corn. Key words: cassava, corn, extrusion, moringa oleifera, palm kernel meal

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the production performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in rengginang production using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) approach. Rengginang is a traditional Indonesian snack made from sticky rice, which has economic and cultural value but faces challenges in production consistency, hygiene, and capacity due to manual processing methods. The QFD method was applied to translate six key customer needs—such as production speed, hygiene, capacity, consistency, quality control, and product variation flexibility—into technical characteristics through the House of Quality (HoQ) matrix. Results showed that the most critical production need was achieving a drying process of no more than one day, followed by hygienic handling. These were translated into technical priorities such as high-speed drying machines and closed-drying systems. The relative weight analysis indicated that these technical improvements had a high impact on production performance with relatively moderate implementation complexity. This study provides MSME actors with a structured model to improve production efficiency and competitiveness based on customer-oriented planning. Keywords: Quality Function Deployment (QFD), House of Quality, MSMEs, Rengginang, Production Performance
