Abstract

The Quranic education development program aims to strengthen prisoners' faith by interpreting verses, memorizing short chapters, and the values of the Islamic creed. Using interactive methods supports the rehabilitation process of inmates within the prison with a holistic approach that integrates Islamic values and psychological aspects. Involving 100 male and female inmates, the program focuses on understanding and applying the teachings of the Quran in daily life. An inclusive religious approach encompasses religious activities and spiritual counseling. Regular Quranic studies and pastoral counseling deepen the inmates' understanding of religion. Creative activities such as art, group discussions, and collaborative projects aid in developing creativity and interpersonal skills. Understanding the religious and educational backgrounds of the inmates is designed to provide a personal and relevant rehabilitation experience, supporting positive changes in their character and behavior and preparing them for reintegration into society. The outcomes of this initiative include the guidance of inmates through religious approaches, focusing on the understanding of the Quran, memorization of short chapters, Islamic creed, and ethics. The activities involve the inmates interpreting selected verses and interactive methods. The introduction of memorizing short chapters uses repetition methods and active participation. Lessons on the Islamic creed focus on the oneness of Allah with an easily understandable and practical approach. Through discussions, role-playing, and practical activities, Islamic ethics learning is centered on moral and social values. Activities are carried out regularly according to a predetermined schedule, with evaluations based on behavioral observations, daily assessments, and final evaluations. Involving inmates in the planning process provides a sense of ownership while the religious institution's team conducts monitoring and supervision. The desired outcomes include an improvement in understanding the Quran and positive changes in the behavior and faith of inmates, measured through observations, daily evaluations, and final assessments. The necessary facilities and infrastructure include a mosque with prayer areas, whiteboards, and an Islamic library.

Abstract

The Rofaerwar ritual or sacred well cleansing is a cultural tradition held once every ten years by the people of Lonthoir Village, symbolizing reverence for ancestors and the preservation of a sacred water source. This practice represents a generational integration of Islamic values with local customs. The aim of this study is to explore the ritual’s implementation, symbolic meanings, and the role of Islamic principles embedded within. A descriptive qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was employed. Findings indicate that Rofaerwar is not merely a physical act but a spiritual and communal event imbued with meaning. Elements such as prayer, deliberation, and the use of Islamic symbols like kain gaja and karaso strengthen the ritual’s religious depth. The study demonstrates that Islamic faith and tradition coexist harmoniously without conflicting values. The implication is that the sustainability of such rituals requires active involvement of traditional leaders, youth, and religious institutions as part of a cultural development strategy. It is recommended to enhance local wisdom-based education to preserve core values amidst modern shifts.

Abstract

This community service program was conducted to enhance madrasah teachers’ competence in integrating Islamic values and global literacy into digital learning content. The background arises from teachers’ limited ability to utilize technology meaningfully and contextually in Islamic-based education. The objective is to strengthen teachers’ capacity to design, produce, and implement value-oriented digital instructional media. The method applied was Participatory Action Research through training, mentoring, classroom supervision, and the establishment of an Islamic digital teacher community. Results show significant improvements in technological mastery (+70.8%), Islamic value integration (+65.4%), and global literacy (+77.3%), along with a positive shift in teaching culture. This activity demonstrates that value-based mentoring and community collaboration effectively foster creative, reflective, and adaptive madrasah teachers in the digital era. The model implies practical policy relevance for enhancing Islamic teachers’ professionalism and can be replicated nationally.

Abstract

The rise of digital technology has reshaped social interaction patterns in educational environments, bringing new challenges such as the increase in online bullying cases and the lack of digital ethics awareness among school communities. This community service aims to empower schools by strengthening the capacities of teachers, students, and parents to establish a sustainable culture of anti-bullying and digital ethics. The participatory school-based approach involved situation analysis, training, mentoring, and reflective evaluation. The results demonstrate a significant improvement in digital ethics awareness, teachers’ ability to detect early signs of bullying, and students’ active participation as digital peace ambassadors. Furthermore, parents became more engaged in supervising values at home, fostering a strong connection between family and school. The program presents an effective collaborative model for cultivating positive digital behavior and building a digitally responsible school ecosystem. Its implication suggests that this model can be replicated in other schools as a preventive and character-based digital education strategy
