Abstract

This study aims to analyze Jokowi’s speech on the 78th Indonesian Independence Day using the critical discourse analysis model developed by Norman Fairclough. A qualitative research design was employed in the conduct of this study. The data for this study were comprised of Jokowi’s speech on 78th Indonesia Independence Day. The analysis of Jokowi’s Independence Day speech employs linguistic choices, including pronouns for authority and community-building.. Discourse markers, English loanwords, and repetition enhance coherence and emphasis. Figurative language engages the audience emotionally and imaginatively. The discourse practice analysis reveals the speech's strategic delivery during a pivotal national event, emphasizing leadership, unity, economic growth, social development, and civil discourse. The social analysis uncovers insights into Indonesia's priorities through the inclusion of local culture, the political context, and the promotion of economic diversification and cultural heritage preservation. Jokowi deftly balances his authority as president with the importance of unity and public trust..

Abstract

Children are honest learners who express their feelings and imagination. Related to imagination, basically all children are creative where according to George & Zhou (in Ashkanasy & Rowe, 2008) creativity is a product of ideas or solutions that are new and useful. Building creativity and imagination in early childhood is a crucial component in their cognitive, emotional and social development. Picture storybooks are one of the most effective educational tools in stimulating these two aspects. This study aims to examine how the use of picture storybooks can develop creativity and imagination in early childhood, as well as the best method of presenting them. Through literature review and participatory observation, this research highlights the important role of illustrations in picture storybooks. Attractive and colourful images not only capture children's attention, but also help them understand and internalize the story better. These images provide a visual jolt that can enrich children's imagination, encouraging them to imagine worlds and characters that are not limited to their real-life experiences. This process helps children develop creative thinking skills, where they learn to think outside the real boundaries and find innovative solutions to various situations. This research also emphasizes the importance of choosing the right picture storybooks. The books selected should be appropriate for the child's age, interests and developmental level. Books with stories that promote positive values, such as cooperation, honesty and courage, can have a positive impact on children's ethical and social development. Abstract

This research explains the role of picture books in developing children's social skills. Through a careful literature review, this research identified several key aspects, ranging from understanding social skills to practical strategies for incorporating picture books into children's education. Reading picture books can develop children's social skills such as empathy, critical thinking skills, communication, cooperation and tolerance. Picture books allow children to feel like they will act out emotions as characters in the story., understand the plot of the story, identify problems and find solutions, and learn about cooperation and respecting differences. Practical strategies such as reading aloud, using stories as starting points for conversations,  and using stories as examples to resolve conflicts can help maximize the benefits of  picture books for children's learning. Incorporating picture books into a child's  education helps children develop social skills that are important for life success while  providing a fun and meaningful learning experience for early childhood. Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out how much influence the meidiia playdough teaching  is in the balance of the credibility of children aged 5-6 years of kindergarten GKPI Tarutung Kota.  The data collection tools in this study are observation, interviews, and documentation. The sample in this study is children aged 5-6 years who are divided into two groups, namely group B2 as the experimental group and group B3 as the control group. The hypothesis test in this study is a t-test using the help of the Microsoft Excel  computer program and the SPSS version 21 program. Based on the results of the Posttest test between the experimental group and the control group, there was a significant difference. The results of the experimental group and the control group normality of the sig. (2-tailed) of 0.081 and 0.666 is greater than the significance level of 0.005 and the homogeneity of the Fcal value is 0.050 will be compared with the value of Fcal with the provision of the numerator dk (n1-1; 8-1=7) and the denominator dk (n2-1; 25-24=24) which is 2.42. So it is known that Fcalung < Ftabel (0.050 < 2.42) sig. Based on the results of the t-test, the Equal Varince Assumed value is calculated > ttable (α=0.05; df= 48), namely tcal= 4.736 > ttable = 2.021 or can be seen in the significant value of Equal Varince Ascetic, which is 0.000 < 0.05. It turned out that the ttable > calculation was 4,736 > 2,021, so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This means that the teacher of the playdough is facing the balance of the creativity of children in the age of 5-6 years of GKPIi Tarutung Kota Kindergarten.
