Abstract

Indonesia is an archipelago and is located in the tropics. One of the disadvantages of an archipelagic country is that it is difficult to distribute electricity systems centrally, so an easier system needs to be used by utilizing easily available energy sources. Because Indonesia is in the tropics, the source of solar energy is the most appropriate. The purpose of this study is to analysis the electric power generation systems of household as an alternative to meeting electricity needs. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that in the design of a household scale solar power plant it is necessary to calculate solar module capacity, battery capacity, solar charge controller and inverter. Weather and load factors are very influential on the length of a household scale solar power plant operating. The intensity of sunlight received by household scale solar power plant will be high when the sky is clear, and the intensity will decrease if it is in cloudy sky. If the load used is high, the household scale solar power plant will not be able to operate long enough to supply electricity to the load, if the load used is low then the household scale solar power plant can operate relatively longer in supplying electricity to the load.

Abstract

Minyak transformator berfungsi sebagai isolasi dan pendingin, juga mempunyai sifat dapat melarutkan gas-gas yang timbul akibat kerusakan sistem. Penggunaan transformator dimanapun adalah sama, khususnya untuk tranformator daya, yaitu sebagai penaik atau penurun tegangan menyesuaikan tegangan dari mesin itu sendiri. Dengan melakukan perawatan secara berkala dan pemantauan kondisi transformator pada saat beroperasi akan banyak keuntungan yang didapat, antara lain: meningkatkan keandalan dari transformator tersebut, memperpanjang masa pakai, jika masa pakai lebih panjang, maka secara otomatis akan dapat menghemat biaya penggantian unit transformator. Adapun langkah-langkah perawatan transformator salah satun ya adalah pemeriksaan berkala kualitas minyak isolasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis karakteristik dari minyak transformator yang dilakukan pemeriksaan secara berkala di Gardu Induk dengan nilai standar nilai tegangan tembus menurut SPLN’50-1982 dan IEC No. 56 tahun 1991 adalah sebesar ≥30 kV/2,5 mm. Dari hasil pengujian dapat diketahui bahwa nilai rata-rata tegangan tembus minyak trafo 2 sebesar 23,7 KV/2,5 mm dan nilai-nilai rata-rata tegangan tembus minyak trafo 3 sebesar 32,7 KV/2,5 mm. Sehingga dapat dilakukan analisa bahwa untuk tegangan tembus minyak trafo 2 di bawah 30 kV/2,5 mm yang artinya minyak trafo sudah harus dilakukan penanganan lebih lanjut. Sedangkan untuk minyak trafo 3, nilainya diatas di bawah standar 30 kV/2,5 mm yang artinya minyak tersebut masih baik untuk digunakan.

Abstract

PT PLN (PERSERO) is a company engaged in electricity in Indonesia and plays a role in the generation and distribution of electricity to consumers. PLN has quality standards that must be met, one of which is a stable frequency even though the load keeps changing all the time. In electric power systems, the frequency value is an indicator of the balance between active power generated with a total load of active system power and losses. The frequency value will increase if there is an excess generation and conversely the frequency value will decrease if there is a shortage of generation or overload. If there is a disturbance that causes the large capacity generating unit to be release from the systems (trip), in this case the PLTU Pangkalan Susu and PLTU Nagan Raya will cause a decrease in frequency so that the Northern Sumatera interconnection system is disrupted. A large decrease in frequency can lead to failure of generating units in a row so that it can cause total system failure (blackout). To avoid a total system failure (blackout) a load shedding scheme with under frequency relay (UFR) is carried out. This research is done by experimental methods. According to this research, it’s been found that the setting of under frequency relay conducted by PLN UP2B Northern Sumatera is good, in this sense of blocking the system from blackout due to a massive power trip.
