Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini merupakan sebuah langkah pemanfaatan karya sastra untuk mengedukasi penanaman nilai-nilai moral sejak dini. Nilai-nilai moral dinilai penting untuk diajarkan sebab melihat adanya degradasi nilai-nilai tersebut dalam masyarakat. Hal ini ditandai  dengan kasus kriminalitas yang semakin meninggi, maraknya pembunuhan yang dilakukan oleh orang terdekat korban, dan kasus-kasus lainnya yang disebabkan kurangnya refleksi nilai-nilai moral dalam pribadi masing-masing masyarakat. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah memberikan pemahaman nilai-nilai moral kepada siswa Sekolah Dasar melalui pembacaan dongeng interaktif serta memberikan motivasi membaca dongeng. Metode yang dilakukan adalah membacakan dua dongeng yang sarat akan nilai-nilai moral didalamnya serta sesi diskusi untuk memberikan pemahamn lebih mendalam tentang nilai-nilai moral tersebut. Untuk memotivasi siswa membaca karya sastra, dilakukan donasi buku dongeng kepada masing-masing siswa dan perpustakaan sekolah. Khalayak yang menjadi sasaran dalam kegiatan ini adalah 40 orang siswa Sekolah Dasar Islam Kecamatan Manggala Kota Makassar. Metode evaluasi menggunakan pre dan post test untuk mengukur keberhasilan kegiatan ini. Dari hasil evaluasi tersebut, didapatkan peningkatan pemahaman tentang nilai-nilai moral seperti jangan memperbudak orang lain, jangan serakah, meminta maaf jika melakukan kesalahan, berbagi dengan sesama, tidak mengulangi kesalahan yang pernah dilakukan, menghindari sikap sombong, tidak mencela kekurangan orang lain, serta menyadari bahwa tiap makhluk diciptakan dengan kelebihan dan kekurangannya masing-masing. Kata kunci: Edukasi, nilai-nilai moral, dongeng interaktif, siswa.   ABSTRACT This community service is a step in using literary works to teach the moral values from an early age. Moral values are considered important to be taught because it seems there is a degradation of these values in society. This is marked by the increase of crime cases, rampant murders committed by people closest to the victim, and other cases caused by the lack of reflection of moral values in the person of each community. The purpose of this activity is to provide an understanding of moral values to elementary school students through reading interactive fairy tales and providing motivation to read fairy tales. The method used was to read two fairy tales that were full of moral values in them and a discussion session to provide a deeper understanding of these moral values. To motivate students to read literary works, fairy tale books were donated to each student and the school library. The targeted audiences in this activity were 40 students from Islamic Elementary School, Manggala District, Makassar City. The evaluation method used pre and post-tests to measure the success of this activity. From the results of the evaluation, it is found that there is an increase in understanding of moral values such as not enslaving others, not being greedy, apologizing if making a mistake, sharing with others, not repeating mistakes that have been made, avoiding arrogance, not criticizing the shortcomings of others, and realizing that each creature was created with its own advantages and disadvantages. Abstract

This research discusses the transformation of knowledge and maritime culture of the Makassar Bugis people in South Sulawesi which is caused by developments in science, technology, and socio-economic transformation. The method used in this research is qualitative research, with analysis looking at the relationship between the main aspects of the transformation that occurred in the maritime knowledge and culture of the Makassar Bugis people. The research results show that maritime transformation is occurring rapidly at present, marked by a shift in boat propulsion and navigation technology from traditional to modern. Structural transformation in maritime culture refers to significant changes in the social, economic, and cultural structures in maritime communities. Factors such as globalization, technological modernization, and economic changes are driving this transformation.The transformation of maritime culture influences traditional values ​​and practices, while access to modern knowledge enriches the way society interacts with the sea and maritime resources.

Abstract

This study explores the perception of Indonesian English language lecturers in implementing Student-Centred Learning (SCL) in Indonesian higher education. One-way teaching method still occurs and needs to be shifted to two-way interactive teaching method or active learning to develop student engagement in learning activities, and SCL is considered as one of the approaches to develop student engagement. The focus of this study is more on the perception of three English language lecturers towards SCL implementation. This is to consider that their roles are essential in delivering the materials as their responsibility is to facilitate and to drive the learning activity, especially in teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) in Indonesian higher education. This research adopted qualitative study by conducting in-depth semi-structured interviews as the method for a small number of English language lecturer participants, and grounded theory was used as the analytical method enabling the presentation of lecturer perception from their context. Findings revealed that the three lecturers had an adequate understanding of the concept of SCL, and they thought implementing SCL is useful and valuable to develop students’ engagement with learning activities and to improve lecturers’ teaching practice even though there are still some challenges that need to be considered. The findings also showed how the participants encountered the challenges and the personal strategies that they saw as effective to be applied. This study suggests it is worth reconsidering the possibilities of valuable English language lecturers’ perception towards SCL implementation in Indonesian higher education.
