Abstract

Problems that cannot be separated from the agricultural sector, especially in Kec. Percut Sei Tuan, Kab. Deli Serdang is the use of chemical pesticides in agriculture. The use of pesticides in agriculture can have positive and negative consequences for the environment and also the health of farmers. The abundance of onion skin waste is another way that can be optimized for its use as a standard ingredient for making organic pesticides. The aim of this research is to transform the use of chemical pesticides into organic pesticides. The practical method used in this journal is qualitative. Making pesticides from onion skin waste can be used to control pest attacks and rice plant diseases. Using onion skin waste as an environmentally friendly pesticide is a more sustainable alternative and has a smaller negative impact on the environment compared to using chemical pesticides.

Abstract

This research explores the soil characteristics in Sikulikap Plain, Sibolangit, North Sumatra, with the aim of assessing its agricultural potential. The plain is known to have Andosol, Alluvial, and Peat soils, collectively creating a fertile environment with high water retention and abundant nutrient availability. The analysis includes parameters such as pH, soil texture, nutrient content, water availability, and soil biological properties. The research results indicate that the soil pH in Sikulikap falls within the range of 6-7, creating optimal acidic conditions for plant growth. The granular soil structure in the A horizon and sandy clay soil texture provide good physical support for agriculture. The biologically rich soil with diverse living organisms adds ecological value to sustainable farming. These findings provide a crucial foundation for sustainable agricultural planning in Sikulikap Plain, with optimal potential for plant growth and increased agricultural production.

Abstract

This research explores the low political participation of students in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the State University of Medan in conveying their aspirations to the government. Characteristics of a democratic country highlight the active involvement of its citizens in political activities, including student political participation. Student organizations are considered small entities similar to the government. The literature review involves definitions of democracy, forms of democracy, and political participation. The research method uses a quantitative and descriptive approach with data collection through questionnaires and interviews. The research findings indicate that the majority of students rarely or never convey their aspirations, driven by a lack of confidence that their aspirations will be responded to. Respondent profiles show a majority from the Geography department and with student registration numbers from the year 2022. Factors influencing low participation include lack of trust, low awareness, and lack of support from student organizations. Recommendations include increasing courage, organizational support, student awareness, interdisciplinary networks, innovation, easily accessible communication platforms, and active government engagement. This research provides in-depth insights and offers recommendations to enhance student participation in conveying political aspirations.

Abstract

This study examines the working mechanisms of various global satellite navigation systems, such as GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou, as well as their integration potential across multiple sectors. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review of relevant scientific sources. All satellite navigation systems operate based on the principle of triangulation using radio signals from satellites equipped with high-precision atomic clocks. The procedure includes satellite deployment, signal transmission, distance measurement, and position calculation by receiver devices. The results show that although each system has distinct technical characteristics and strategic orientations, integration between systems—through GNSS, SBAS, radar, and Earth observation technologies—can enhance the accuracy, reliability, and coverage of global navigation services. These systems offer wide-ranging benefits in areas such as transportation navigation, fleet tracking, disaster mitigation, environmental conservation, and military applications. This research emphasizes the importance of understanding the procedures and integration of satellite navigation systems to support cross-sector operational efficiency and strengthen technological resilience in the face of global challenges.
