Abstract

Student centered learning (SCL) focuses on students achieving learning objectives. This study aims to determine the impact of applying student centered learning (SCL) learning methods in embedded system programming subjects. The student centered learning (SCL) method is used to train creativity and improve student understanding in carrying out practical learning in the classroom. The subjects of this study were 64 students of class XI Electronics Engineering from 2 classes, namely TE 1 and TE 2. This research used descriptive qualitative research methods. The data analysis used is descriptive statistics. In each meeting, students can fulfill the expected learning concepts and fulfill part of the learning outcomes so that the learning objectives and practicum results can be achieved well. The results showed that the application of the student centered learning (SCL) model can improve student learning outcomes by 4,12%, obtained from learning results with an average job sheet work value of 83.71 in the TE 1 class and 84.28 in the TE 2 class. This shows that through the student centered learning (SCL) approach students can understand and practice the learning material well. The application of learning with the student centered learning (SCL) model received a positive response from students because students felt freer in learning and practicing embedded system programming material.

Abstract

The Indonesian government issued the regulation on Distance Learning during the pandemic as stated in the Higher Education Law Number 12 of 2021 Article 31 concerning Distance Learning. This learning style is quite problematic, especially when applied to students with special needs. One type of student with special needs who have difficulty carrying out the online learning process is students with hearing impairments. As a result, some adjustments are required to accommodate those students during the distance learning process. One of those adjustments includes modifying the learning method, which is implemented with the maternal reflective method using the Short Story of Daily Living Card. This study aims at developing the Short Story of Daily Living Card as a medium to implement the Maternal Reflective Method (MRM) for students with hearing impairments during the pandemic. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) method, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The study is only limited to the design step. The results shows that educators had difficulties in providing speech learning for students with hearing impairment. As a result, Short Story of Daily Living Card can help teachers and parents in providing speech practice for students.

Abstract

Abstract Teachers should understand slow learners to reduce behavioral problems. Thus, this study aims to identify forms of practical action taken by teachers to help with learning problems faced by slow learners. The method used is research and development to develop a questionnaire about teacher actions in overcoming learning problems faced by slow learners. The subjects of this study were 40 regular elementary school teachers in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. Furthermore, the data analysis technique used is quantitative with percentages. The results of the study show that regular elementary school teachers have taken tactical action to provide solutions to the learning problems of slow learners. Most teachers help students by maximizing student potential, meaning that they support all efforts students can make to learn. However, teachers have not utilized learning resources and media to bridge the metacognitive learning of slow learners. . Consequently, teachers need training on effective learning media for the development of students' metacognition.
