Abstract

This study focuses on finding out the improvement of students' vocabulary by using Quizizz Application at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 13 Pangkep. This type of research is Pre-experimental research. The sample for this study was selected by consisting  of  28 students. The data from this study were obtained from the pre-test and post-test as a comparison material to determine the level of student improvement before and after using the Quizizz Application.The result of this research showed that the use of the Quizizz Application is very helpful for students in improving students' vocabulary mastery at Tenth Grade Students of SMA Negeri 13 Pangkep. This can be seen in how much improvement the student's scores are. This study shows the improvement that occurred in 24.34%. In addition, this is also supported by the data analysis results are the t-test value (7.73) is higher than the t-table value (1.703). By this result, it is concluded that there is a significant difference on students‟ vocabulary mastery before and after they are taught using Quizziz Aplication and it shows that application is effective to improve students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to find out the Students' Question Strategies and their Higher Order Thinking Skills in Learning English.The method of this research is descriptive qualitative research. This research used two instruments; questionnaires and interviews. The subjects of this research were 10 students from grade IX namely 5 students from grade IX.4 and IX.5 of SMP Negeri 2 Sungguminasa. This research uses purposive sampling technique. The sample of this study consisted of 10 students with a population of 47 students from each class IX.4 and IX.5.The result of this research shows that learning oriented to higher order thinking skills or HOTS, can influence original thinking and according to the perspective of students to solve a problem in classroom especially in learning English. Therefore, the best way to see students' higher order thinking skills is to investigate a question strategy consisting of four; inferential questions, interpretation questions, transfer questions and hypothetic questions. Based on the result, student believe that by asking questions they will be able to explore English cognitively, and this can influence their higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to find out the students’ perception of the use of Google meet application in English learning at eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa. The researcher used quantitative descriptive research. The sample of this research was eleventh grade students of MA Guppi Samata Gowa which consist of 20 students. The sample was taken by using questioner with Google form. Based on the findings, it was found that students gave positive perception on the use of Google meet in teaching English, the positive response came from their experience in learning process. The result of the research indicated that based on the Likert’s score analysis there were 12 (85,7%) out of the students was categorized positive perception in which score classification is 42-70, beside that there were 2 students (14,3%) had neutral perception and none of students have negative perception. It was categorized that Google meet used in teaching English effective to apply, it helps the learning teaching process in the class. The recommendation for the future research to conduct a research related to the using of Google meet in teaching and learning procces such as kahoot, as the advance of tecnology keep increasing time by time.

Abstract

The aim of this research was find out whether the use of Facebook Group as a medium effective to increase students’ ability in writing recount text of the second grade students of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa. This research used Pre-Experimental Research. The subject of the research was the second grade students with the sample of this research was 25 students from class VIII C and it used Purposive Sampling Technique. The researcher gave recout text to measure the students writing recount text. All of the students were given pre-test before using Facebook Group as a medium and after they got the treatment, the researcher gave post test to the students. The result of this research showed that the writing recount text of the second grade students of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa, before taught by using Facebook Group was poor categorized. The mean score of pre-test was 61,04 and mean score of post-test was 85,48. It means that the mean score of post-test was greater than the mean score of pre-test. Then the improvement of the students’ writing ability was 40%. Then the calculating the t-test value for recount text was 12,87 and t-table for recount text was 2.064. it mean that the t-test was greater than t-table. The alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected. Based on the research findings, it could be conclude, that applying Facebook Group as a medium had significant to increase students’ ability at the second grade of MTs Aisyiyah Sungguminasa.

Abstract

This research aimed to know the students writing ability after applied Padlet Application on class 11th grade students of MAN 1 Makassar. The research problems of this research does the students writing ability improve using Padlet application and does the students interest in learning English using Padlet application. The method of this research was pre experiment design that consisted of pretest, treatment and posttest. The aimed of this research was to analyze whether or not the used of Padlet Application improved the students’ writing skill and to analyze whether or not the used of Padlet Application made students’ interest in learning English. The researcher used two kinds of test were writing test to measure the improvement of students’ writing skill in terms of content and organization and using questionnaire to measure the interest of students using Padlet application. This questionnaire consisted of five positive statements and five negative statements. Based on the data analysis, it found that the improvement of students’ writing skill in terms of content was 54.70 became 82.35, with the t-test value of content was greater than t-table (16.58>2.11). While the improvement of students’ writing skill in terms of organization shows the result was 57.05 became 87.05 with the t-test value of organization was greater than t-table (34.98>2.11). Based on the result of questionnaire data, it shows that the percentage completely positive and negative statements was 79.11 % as good categorized. It means, the result of writing test and questionnaire data proved that Padlet Application was effective and applicable to improve and interest students’ writing skill at the eleventh grade of MAN 1 Makassar

Abstract

The main objective of this research was to find out the students’ difficulties in speaking at SMP PGRI Barembeng and the students’ strategies in overcoming their difficulties in writing narrative text This research used descriptive quantitative method. The participants of this research were the students’ at SMP PGRI Barembeng. The sample of this research were 44 students taken by purposive sampling technique. The researcher used the writing test as the instrument of this research. Based on the research findings, there were two students’ difficulties those were; lack of vocabulary, lack of confidence and lack of grammar. The researcher also found 23 students’ strategies in overcoming writing difficulties at SMP PGRI Barembeng, those were; memory strategy, cognitive strategy, affective strategy and social strategy.
