Abstract

Purpose: Identify the application of cabbage leaf compress to reduce the incidence of breast swelling in postpartum mothers. Methods: literature study of 5 scientific articles obtained through the Google Scholar database, published between 2020 and 2023. Results: All studies showed that cabbage leaf compress decreased the frequency of breast engorgement in post partum mothers. Cabbage leaf compress is a non-pharmacological solution that can be used by post partum mothers independently to reduce their breast swelling. Conclusions: Giving cabbage leaf compress is effective in reducing the incidence of breast swelling in postpartum mothers.

Abstract

Introduction: Breastfeeding is a natural event for a woman. However, breastfeeding problems that often arise in the early postpartum period (puerperal or lactation period) are breast engorgement. Breast engorgement is a blockage of milk due to the narrowing of the lactiferous ducts or by glands that are not emptied. The impact that will be caused if the breast milk dam is not resolved, namely mastitis and breast abscess, will occur. The use of cabbage or cabbage leaf compresses can be a non-pharmacological treatment. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effect of cabbage leaf compresses on breast swelling in postpartum mothers. The research method used is a quasi-experimental design. Method: The design used is Posttest Only Control Group Design. The sample of this study was postpartum mothers who experienced breast swelling in TPMB in the Ciamis Health Center Working Area. The number of respondents was 30 postpartum mothers who were divided into 2 groups (intervention and control groups). Each group consisted of 15 postpartum mothers. Result: The results of the statistical tests using the Mann Whitney U test p-value were 0.000, which means that cabbage leaf compresses affect breast swelling in postpartum mothers in TPMB in the Ciamis Health Center Working Area. Conclusion: There is an effect of cabbage leaf compresses on breast swelling in post-partum mothers with a P-value of 0.000.

Abstract

Introduction: Scabies is a skin disease still often found in Indonesia and remains a public health problem. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of Scabies in 2014 was 130 million people in the world. Objective: This study aims to determine the correlation between personal hygiene behavior in bathing and sleeping with the incidence of Scabies in students at Manhajul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. Method: Descriptive quantitative research using correlation and retrospective research design was used in this research. The total population is 90 students who suffer from Scabies and who do not suffer from Scabies at the Manhajul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. The total sampling technique was used to select the respondents. Results: Statistical test results obtained that there is a relationship between personal hygiene behavior and bathing behavior with the incidence of Scabies (p = 0.023 <0.05), and there is a relationship between personal hygiene behavior and sleeping behavior with the incidence of Scabies (p = 0.011 <0.05). Conclusion: The conclusion of this study states that there is a significant relationship between personal hygiene behavior, bathing behavior, and sleeping behavior with the incidence of Scabies in students at the Manhajul Ulum Islamic Boarding School. Recommendation: This study recommends that Islamic boarding school managers and students improve personal hygiene regarding bathing and sleeping behavior

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting remains a significant nutritional issue characterized by chronic malnutrition, negatively impacting children's growth, development, and productivity throughout their lives. Proper nutrition, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life, is essential to prevent stunting. The lack of protein intake, especially from animal sources, is a major contributing factor to stunting in Indonesia. Objective: The purpose of this public service was to increase the knowledge of mothers with toddlers and health cadres regarding the importance of animal protein intake as part of the "Isi Piringku" campaign to prevent stunting in Sindangrasa Village, Ciamis Regency. Method: This public service was conducted in three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The preparation stage involved coordination with local authorities for permission and logistical arrangements. The implementation stage included pre-test knowledge assessments, an educational session using slide presentations and leaflets, and interactive discussions. The evaluation stage involved post-test assessments to measure knowledge improvement. Result: The service was attended by 30 participants, consisting of health cadres and mothers with toddlers. Pre-test results showed that 50% of participants had moderate knowledge, while 30% had low knowledge about the role of animal protein in preventing stunting. After the educational session, the percentage of participants with good knowledge increased to 53.33%, while those with moderate knowledge decreased to 46.67%. Conclusion: The findings suggest that education using slide presentations and leaflets is effective in increasing knowledge about stunting prevention through balanced nutrition. Raising awareness among mothers and health cadres is crucial in promoting behavior changes that support adequate animal protein intake to prevent stunting.
