Abstract

Active learning is a contemporary material that requires teachers to be able to condition students, classes and the learning process. Even though many previous articles discuss active learning strategies, studies that focus on structured number head learning strategies in elementary age children have not yet been discussed in depth. This research seeks to reveal the use of structured number head strategies in natural science learning in elementary school age children. Data collection uses observation, interviews and documentation studies methods. Next, the data was analyzed using data reduction, data display and verification techniques, then its validity was tested using data triangulation techniques. The results of this research conclude that learning the type of numbered head structure for teacher observation is in the good category for increasing the activeness of student learning activities. Because learning with this strategy forms groups that work together to fulfill their respective responsibilities and are interdependent with their peers, as each group can present and explain the results of the discussion according to their understanding. Through the implementation of the numbered head structure strategy, it is hoped that students will have active interest and enthusiasm in participating in the learning process, both in class and outside of class.

Abstract

Various reviews and examinations of previous researchers on children's character building have been conducted. This is based on the realisation that character building is one of the main goals of education, especially in early childhood education (PAUD) which is known as the golden period of child development. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the implementation of religious and moral education at Permata Bunda Kindergarten in shaping children's character. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research involved teachers, students, and parents as the main subjects. The results show that religious education is integrated through habituation, storytelling method, and practical learning, such as ablution and prayer. In addition, the use of learning media in character building is also proven to be an important role in the process of building a generation with character. So that the utilisation of media is highly recommended as one of the strengthening of Islamic character in children. Through this research, it is concluded that in addition to exemplary aspects and habituation methods, providing learning experiences with the use of media is an important factor in building a generation of Islamic character from an early age. This is because children who grow up with the values of honesty, compassion, and responsibility will be better prepared to face the challenges of life in the future.

Abstract

This study investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI)-assisted media in madrasah learning environments, addressing the limited availability of culturally and pedagogically responsive educational technologies in Islamic primary education. The research aims to develop and implement intelligent instructional media tailored to the cognitive, moral, and spiritual needs of madrasah students, while evaluating its impact on learning comprehension, reasoning, and communication. Employing a mixed-methods approach, this study combines qualitative data—analyzed using the latest NVivo software—from interviews, observations, and document analysis, with quantitative insights from user feedback and learning outcome measures. The results reveal that AI-integrated media significantly enhanced students’ conceptual understanding, verbal and non-verbal communication skills, and creative expression. Additionally, teachers reported reduced instructional burden and improved student engagement. The findings contribute to the emerging field of AI in education by proposing a culturally grounded framework for AI adoption in Islamic schooling. This study not only underscores the transformative potential of AI in promoting inclusive, meaningful learning experiences in madrasahs, but also calls for strategic teacher training, ethical design, and policy support to ensure sustainable and value-aligned implementation.

Abstract

Science literacy is a fundamental competency for students to engage with scientific issues and make evidence-based decisions. However, Indonesian students consistently rank low in international assessments such as PISA, revealing major gaps in their ability to understand and apply scientific concepts. This study aims to measure the science literacy skills of junior high school students using the Nature of Science Literacy Test (NOSLiT), which focuses on students' understanding of the nature and processes of science rather than solely content mastery. A descriptive quantitative method was employed with 150 ninth-grade students from five public junior high schools in Bombana Regency, Indonesia. The NOSLiT instrument, adapted to the Indonesian context, consists of 35 multiple-choice items across five science literacy domains. Results indicated that students' overall performance was categorized as very poor, with an average score of 39.7%. Key weaknesses were found in scientific thinking, societal application of science, and scientific methodology. These findings highlight a mismatch between current teaching practices and the demands of 21st-century science education. The study underscores the importance of integrating inquiry-based and contextually relevant pedagogy to enhance students' scientific reasoning, curiosity, and literacy. This research provides a foundation for curriculum development and targeted interventions aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 4 on quality education.
