Abstract

Several references indicate that active metabolites found in natural plant resources such as flavonoids and saponins have the potential as natural insecticides. One of natural plant resource that has the potential as a natural insecticide is durian, because in durian albedo there are flavonoids and saponins. In addition, durian seeds also contain flavonoids of 29.74 μg / mL. Based on this background, the author took the initiative to test the activity of flavonoid content in durian seed extract and albedo to determine its effectiveness as a natural insecticide for mealybug pest control. This research consists of 2 stages, including; extraction of flavonoids from durian seeds and albedo (peels), and testing of flavonoid activity of durian seed and peels extracts against mealybug mortality. Extraction of flavonoids from durian seeds and peels using socletation method and spectrophotometry tested. The results of flavonoid and phenolic analysis of durian seed extract are higher than durian albedo extract. The effectiveness test was carried out on the population of mealybug pests that had been acclimatized for 24 hours, placed on cocoa peels media that had been soaked in the treatment solution for 15 minutes, then the mortality rate was observed. The treatment given was albedo extract 12.5 g/100ml; albedo extract 25 g/100 ml; durian seed extract 12.5 g/100 ml; 25 g/100ml; albedo and seed extract 12.5 g/100 ml; albedo and seed extract 25 g/100 ml; positive control and negative control. The test results showed that the mortality of mealybugs in the treatment of seed extract 12.5 g /100 ml was not significantly different from the positive control treatment, this showed that durian seed extract 12.5 g / 100ml is expected to replace the use of chemical insecticides in the control of mealybug pests.

Abstract

Oksigen merupakan unsur yang dibutuhkan oleh seluruh makhluk hidup, terutama oleh manusia untuk bernapas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kapasitas produksi oksigen di lingkungan Kampus 1 Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember berdasarkan kondisi saat ini. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah membandingkan kapasitas produksi oksigen dengan jumlah kebutuhan oksigen yang dibutuhkan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ketersediaan Ruang Terbuka Hijau di Kampus 1 Universitas PGRI Argopuro Jember tidak mencukupi kebutuhan oksigen civitas academica yaitu hanya 0,24 gram/orang/hari, sedangkan kebutuhan manusia sebenarnya adalah 840 gram/orang/hari. Temuan ini bermanfaat dalam membantu universitas dan pihak terkait untuk mengambil kebijakan yang diperlukan guna memperbaiki kondisi tersebut demi kesehatan dan keamanan lingkungan kampus.

Abstract

Kombucha dikenal karena kandungan probiotiknya yang baik bagi sistem pencernaan dan kekuatannya sebagai antioksidan alami. Umumnya kombucha menggunakan gula sebagai bahan baku sumber energi mikroorganisme di dalamnya, namun belum adanya penelitian yang meneliti karakteristik teh kombucha yang berasosiasi dengan sari tebu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki karakteristik sensoris  teh kombucha yang diasosiasikan dengan penggunaan sari tebu sebagai bahan baku, termasuk analisis rasa dan morfologi kombucha. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menguji kualitas teh kombucha meliputi beberapa parameter, antara lain pH teh kombucha, warna teh kombucha, aroma dan rasa. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kombucha hasil asosiasi dengan sari tebu menghasilkan warna kuning keruh menuju cream. Turut terjadi penurunan pH sebesar 1.47, dari nilai 3 pada hari pertama sebelum fermentasi, hingga 1.53 pada hari ke 14 fermentasi. Aroma teh kombucha terasa menyengat, dan rasa teh kombucha menjadi sangat asam.

Abstract

Purpose of the study: This study aims to (1) describe writing assignments in the 2013 Curriculum *English* textbook for grade X students based on Paul Nation's theory, and (2) evaluate the suitability of the writing assignments in the book with the criteria suggested by Paul Nation. This study uses a descriptive method. Methodology: In this research, the writer employs descriptive research. This research uses the content analysis. The method of collecting data is comparing method and analyzing document by selecting the writing tasks on the textbook entitled Bahasa Inggristextbook for the tenth grade students of senior high school that meet the criteria of writing task suggested by Paul Nation. Main Findings: The results of the study showed that the writing tasks in English textbooks for grade X students met Paul Nation's criteria, with the distribution of Experience Task (22.22%), Shared Task (11.11%), Guided Task (59.25%), and Independent Task (7.40%). The total percentage reached 54.17%, meeting the standards proposed by Arikunto. This textbook is categorized as good and suitable for use by grade X students because it has met the recommended writing task criteria.. Novelty/Originality of this study: This study analyzes writing tasks in English textbooks of the 2013 Curriculum for senior high school students in grade X based on Paul Nation's theory, revealing the compatibility of the curriculum with current learning theories. The results provide insights to improve the effectiveness of English learning materials and assessments.
