Abstract

Habituation is one of the methods used to form discipline to early childhood. This study aims to determine the influence of using habituation method to form discipline in early childhood aged 5-6 years in PAUD Sartika Asih. The study employs a quantitative method under pre-experimental approach (one group pre-test and post-test design). The findings of the study show that based on the result of the t-test, t-observed = 13.073 > t-table = 2.040, so H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, the use of the habituation method is able to effect in informing early childhood’s discipline in PAUD Sartika Asih. In addition, there are other findings in this study, including: the early childhood gets more attention from the parents at home and the teacher at school, because they give the real examples of how to do discipline in daily life; early childhood feels more enthusiastic in starting activities at school, because he/she and his/her parents arrive at school on time; and the early childhood feels proud of his/her parents because they give the model of how to return the toys to its place and how to wait for the turn. In conclusion, the use of habituation method has an effect to form of early childhood’s discipline at PAUD Sartika Asih.

Abstract

Parenting is the interaction process between parents and early childhood to instill and develop early childhood’s characters through natural since early age. The present study aims to analyze parenting styles applied by the parents to develop the early childhood’s independent character. In addition, this study employed a case study at which the reseachers gathered the data through observation and interview towards 13 early childhoods and 13 mother (parents) as the respondents. The results of the study revealed that 61,54% of the respondents apply positive parenting style to develop their early childhood’s independent character, 23,08% of the respondents apply permissive parenting style to develop their early childhood’s independent character, and 15,38% of the respondents apply mixed parenting style (positive and permissive parenting styles) to develop their early childhood’s independent character. Thus, the majority of the respondents apply positive parenting style to develop the early childhood’s independent character at home. In conclusion, the 3 parenting styles can be collaborated each other by the parents based on the characteristics of the early childhood, the tasks given, and also the situation.

Abstract

One of the efforts to result qualified generation is to instill religious and moral values to early childhood since early age. This study aims to find out how to implement learning religious and moral values through the habituation method in PAUD Al-Barkah, and what strategies are used by teachers to implement learning religious and moral values through the habituation method at PAUD Al-Barkah. The method used in this study is a classroom action research (CAR). The results of this study show that the implementation of learning religious and moral values through habituation method to early childhood is categorized very good. This is referring to the increase on the average score in the pre-cycle by 56.5% to 69.8% in the cycle I, and the average score increased to 84.8% in the cycle 2. In addition, the implementation of learning religious and moral values through habituation method has a positive impact on the entire early chidlhoods on the indicators: doing worship, behaving honestly and politely, maintaining personal and environmental cleanliness, and knowing religious days. To conclude that the use of habituation method has positive and significant impact on applying religious and moral values to early childhood at PAUD Al-Barkah.

Abstract

As an effort to generate the quality generation, from the early age character education must have been familiarized through a series of habituation. The present study aims to determine the implementation of habituation method of saying please, sorry, thank you, and excuse me for character building in early childhood. This research uses qualitative method under a descriptive approach. The results showed that the implementation of habituation to say four magic words, namely: the word 'sorry', 'thank you', 'please', and 'excuse me' in early childhoods aged 5-6 years is generally exemplified through modelling showed by teacher and familiarized through direct practice. In addition, the implementation of the habituation of the four magic words is carried out in several steps including: the teacher as the role model provides stimulus to early childhoods by training them to speak to teacher and friends politely, the teacher invites early childhoods to have habituation in saying the four magic words through active communication, the teacher instills habituation learning of four magic words through songs, the teacher provides understanding of the four magic words by modeling directly to early childhoods. The positive impacts obtained by early childhoods include: they are accustomed to say the word ‘please’ before asking for a help, they are accustomed to say the word ‘sorry’ to other friends when making mistakes, they are accustomed to say the word ‘thank you’ when given something by friends, they are accustomed to say the word ‘excuse me’ when will pass in front of others. In conclusion, the implementation of habituation to say four magic words in early childhoods aged 5-6 years is directly exemplified through teacher’s modelling and habituation.
