Reading the Qur'an filled with a sense of belief in Allah will lead to a process of self-surrender to the Creator which will bring about a passive state for the reader's body. In addition, reading the Koran like this will also cause a healthy placebo effect and reading the Koran itself can be a form of relaxation, which is called the transcendence meditation method. Abstract

Marriage is one of the social institutions that has an important position in Islam, not only as a means of fulfilling biological needs, but also as a form of worship that has high spiritual value. This article aims to examine the concept of the sacredness of marriage from the perspective of the Qur'an, by highlighting the values of faith, harmony, and responsibility that are the foundation of an Islamic household. A thematic interpretation approach is used to explore the meaning of relevant verses of the Qur'an, such as Surah Ar-Rum verse 21 on mawaddah wa rahmah (love and affection) and Surah An-Nisa verse 34 on the roles and responsibilities of husband and wife. The results of the study show that marriage in Islam has a deep spiritual dimension, namely as a mitsaqan ghalizha (a heavy covenant) that connects a husband and wife with Allah swt. In addition, the sacredness of marriage is also reflected in the guidance of the Qur'an which emphasizes the importance of good communication, mutual understanding, and commitment to building a family that is sakinah (peaceful), mawaddah (full of love), and rahmah (affectionate). Thus, a deep understanding of the sacredness of marriage in the Al-Qur'an can be a guide for Muslims in building a harmonious domestic life and the approval of Allah swt.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the Qur’anic parenting model found in Surah Luqman verses 12–19 as an educational framework for shaping a Rabbani generation. This study employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, analyzing both classical and contemporary exegeses as well as Islamic educational literature. The findings reveal that Luqman’s parenting approach encompasses five main aspects: the inculcation of tawhid (monotheism), awareness of Allah’s constant supervision, education in worship and ethics, the formation of social etiquette, and a communication style rooted in wisdom and compassion. These values play a significant role in shaping individuals who are faithful, morally upright, and socially responsible. This parenting model is not only relevant within the context of Muslim families but can also be integrated into both formal and non-formal education systems to foster an Islamic character and prepare individuals to face contemporary challenges. By using the Qur’an as the foundation of education, a holistic Rabbani generation is expected to emerge spiritually, morally, and socially grounded.

Abstract

The phenomenon of non-voting (golput) or voter abstention in elections presents a significant challenge to democracy in Indonesia, including in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election. Low political participation can undermine the legitimacy of elected governments and hinder regional development processes. In the context of Islam, political participation can be viewed as part of the social responsibility taught in the Qur'an, which emphasizes the importance of deliberation, justice, and trustworthiness in societal life. This study employs a qualitative-descriptive approach with data collected through in-depth interviews with non-participating voters in the 2024 Mandailing Natal Regional Election and secondary data analysis from reports by the General Election Commission (KPU) and relevant literature. The Qur'anic perspective is examined using the thematic interpretation (maudhu’i) method, tracing verses related to political participation. The study finds that the main factors driving non-voting in Mandailing Natal include: (1) public distrust in candidates perceived as incapable of bringing change, (2) political apathy due to money politics, and (3) limited understanding of the importance of political participation in Islam. From the Qur'anic perspective, abstention can be considered contrary to the principle of shura (deliberation), as stated in QS. Ash-Shura (42:38), and the obligation to uphold justice in QS. An-Nisa (4:58).
