Abstract

Super native chickens are a cross between native chickens and laying hens. Super native chickens require nutritious feed to achieve optimal production results. This study aims to determine the effect of providing factory rations with the addition of papaya leaves and rice bran on the carcass percentage of super native chickens. The study was conducted from January 2026 to March 2026 using a completely randomized design with 5 treatments and 4 replications. Data analysis was carried out through analysis of live weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage using analysis of variance in a completely randomized design (CRD). The results showed that all research variables, such as live weight, carcass weight, and carcass percentage, had the highest average values in the P0 treatment with the 50% Factory Ration + (100% Papaya Leaves + 0% Rice Bran), with an average live weight ranging from 927-1028 grams per head, a carcass weight of 607-676 grams per head, and an average carcass percentage ranging from 64.38-65.87%.

Abstract

Bali cattle farming is one of the strategic livestock sectors that contributes significantly to rural livelihoods and regional economic development in Sumbawa Regency. However, cattle productivity remains relatively low due to traditional management practices, limited feed resources, and inadequate implementation of livestock management principles. This study aimed to analyze the management practices of Bali cattle farming in Lenangguar Village, Lenangguar District, Sumbawa Regency. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation involving 50 cattle farmers selected using proportional random sampling. The results revealed that most farmers were in productive age groups and primarily worked as crop farmers. The management system applied by farmers was generally traditional to semi-intensive. Natural grazing areas and agricultural by-products were the main sources of feed. The implementation of livestock management aspects, including breeding, feeding, housing, health management, and disease prevention, was categorized as moderate. Limited educational background and dependence on natural resources were identified as major constraints in improving livestock productivity. Therefore, strengthening extension services, improving feed management, and enhancing livestock health programs are necessary to support sustainable Bali cattle development in Lenangguar Village.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the financial and non-financial feasibility of a kacang goat farming business in Moyo Hilir District. The research method used was a survey method, with a purposive sampling or proportional random sampling method based on the livestock population. Data analysis was conducted quantitatively to assess financial feasibility using the Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio), Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), and Payback Period (PP) parameters, as well as qualitative analysis for non-financial aspects (market, technical, and management). The results showed that the average livestock owned was 30 goats. Financially, this business was declared feasible with an R/C ratio > 1, a positive NPV, and an IRR exceeding the prevailing interest rate. Non-financially, market and technical aspects in Moyo Hilir District strongly support the sustainability of this business thanks to the availability of local feed and high market demand.
