Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the BIPA program and provide recommendations for continuous improvement. The research method used is the CIPP evaluation method which includes context, input, process, and product analysis. Data were collected through interviews and classroom observations. The results showed that in the context aspect, the BIPA program at UIN Walisongo has been adjusted to the needs and cultural background of foreign students. The input aspect shows that the curriculum and teaching materials have been well organized, although they still need some improvements to better suit the latest developments in language teaching. In the process aspect, it was found that interactive teaching methods and the use of information technology have increased students' active participation in learning. However, there are challenges in terms of classroom management and adaptation of teaching methods for different levels of students' language ability. The product aspect showed that the program succeeded in significantly improving foreign students' Indonesian language proficiency, although there is still room for improvement especially in speaking and writing skills. This study concludes that the evaluation approach with the CIPP model can provide a comprehensive view of the BIPA program at UIN Walisongo

Abstract

In recent years, the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence has significantly impacted various aspects of life, including the realm of creative writing in literature. One prominent application of AI is ChatGPT, which can synthesize poetry. However, questions have arisen regarding the extent of their ability to understand and replicate symbolic and sign meanings in literary works, particularly in poetry. This research aims to explore the intervention of artificial intelligence in the poetry creation process and identify limitations related to the use of symbolic and sign functions. Utilizing the perspective of Roland Barthes' Semiotics, this study delves into the symbolic meanings in poetry. The research employs a qualitative descriptive method with hermeneutic reading and content analysis of poetry, comparing it with human-authored poetry. The research data consists of poetry created by the artificial intelligence ChatGPT and human-authored poetry. The results indicate limitations in the ability of artificial intelligence to use symbols and signs in poetry, resulting in interpretations that are limited and tend to follow conventional patterns. Artificial intelligence often relies on common symbols and signs, frequently associated with existing cultural myths. Therefore, the role of humans in the creative process remains crucial in literary writing to ensure the diversity of symbols and signs, fostering the development of more innovative and profound interpretations in poetry.

Abstract

This study examines the depiction of Dewi Sri and Dewi Lanjar through a deconstructive intertextual approach with the perspective of ecofeminism in the oral tradition of Javanese folklore. Oral traditions are the main object of study because they are an important means of in-heriting cultural, ecological, and local values between generations. Dewi Sri is widely known in the agrarian traditions of Javanese and Balinese as the goddess of rice and fertility, who is wor-shipped through various rituals such as Ngarot—a fertility plea ceremony before the planting season. Meanwhile, Dewi Lanjar is respected through the oral traditions of the people of the northern coast of Java, especially in Pekalongan, through rituals and prayers on the beach to pray for the safety of the fishermen and protection from the dangers of the sea. Through intertex-tuality analysis, this study found that Dewi Sri is represented as a symbol of ecological harmony, fertility, and prosperity, showing the role of women as the guardian of the balance between hu-mans and nature. On the contrary, Dewi Lanjar, who in the narrative was initially portrayed as a figure full of sorrow, underwent a transformation into a powerful figure who was empowered in managing the relationship with the marine nature, reflecting women's resilience, transcendence, and adaptation to ecological challenges. The deconstructive approach shows that these two fig-ures form a relationship of meaning that complements each other, opening up space for new readings of the role of women in ecologically oriented Javanese culture. These findings enrich the understanding of ecofeminism in the folklore of the archipelago and affirm the importance of pre-serving oral traditions as a vehicle for ecological and cultural learning.
