Abstract

Evaluation of learning outcomes is an important component in the educational process. Primarily in implementing relatively new learning facilities. The aim of this research is to evaluate student science learning outcomes. The sample consisted of 86 students who were facilitated with independent study and the PBR model. Learning outcome data is collected using the documentation method from the final assessment results sheet which becomes the grade on the student's study results card. This data was analyzed descriptively to determine the average size and proportion. To find out the comparison of science learning outcomes between semester 3 and semester 5 students, an inferential analysis was carried out using the independent sample t-test. Our findings show that the average student science learning outcomes are in the good category. As many as 94.2% of students received a pass grade in the science courses they programmed. The results of the inferential analysis that we carried out show that the science learning achievements of semester 3 and semester 5 students are significantly different. Semester 5 has higher science learning outcomes compared to semester 3 students. The results of this research prove that the implementation of independent study and the PBR model is effective in helping students to master the assigned science learning objectives well, and the semester level has a significant effect. However, the quality of the learning process needs to be improved because there is a small percentage (5.8%) whose mastery of science learning objectives cannot be categorized as passing. It is hoped that this improvement can improve their science learning outcomes, so that in the next lesson, they can reach the pass category with a good or very good interpretation.

Abstract

Ketiadaan informasi terkait kesulitan mahasiswa dalam melakukan penelitian dan menulis makalah ilmiah berdampak pada tidak maksimalnya perancangan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran sains. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menganalisis letak kesulitan tersebut. Penelitian survey ini dilakukan pada 167 mahasiswa yang memprogramkan mata kuliah IAD dan Pendidikan Sians SD. Data yang dikumpulkan dari sampel tersebut mencakup tahapan penelitian yang paling sulit dilakukan, bagian makalah yang paling sulit ditulis, peran contoh makalah yang menjadi media dalam membantu mahasiswa mengembangkan keterampilannya dalam menulis, dan respon terkait kebutuhan fasilitas pembelajaran selain contoh makalah. Data yang berhasil dikoleksi dianalisis secara deskriptif yaitu analisis proporsi. Hasil analisis kemudian divisualisasi dalam bentuk diagram batang menggunakan mikrosof excel. Fakta yang kami temukan adalah tahapan mengumpulkan data menjadi hal paling sulit yang dapat dilakukan oleh mahasiswa ketika melaksanakan penelitian. Untuk kemampuan dalam menulis makalah ilmiah, bagian tersulit adalah menulis hasil dan pembahasan. Kami juga menemukan bahwa makalah dapat membantu mahasiswa dalam mengembangkan keterampilan menulisnya. Namun demikian, mereka masih membutuhkan fasiltias pembelajaran lain supaya pembelajaran sains menjadi lebih maksimal. Ini perlu menjadi pertimbangan dalam merencanakan dan mengimplementasikan pembelajaran sains berikutnya. Agar kualitas pembelajaran dapat ditingkatkan secara kontinu.

Abstract

The low level of students' writing skills indicates that concrete efforts are needed to overcome these problems. In this study, we assessed students' scientific writing skills through the implementation of a research-based learning model (RBL) assisted by media Examples, Templates and Guidelines for writing papers (ETG). The research was conducted at the PGSD Study Program at Mataram University. The sample consisted of 64 students from two different batches, namely second-year students and third-year students. The instrument used to measure students' scientific writing skills was a science research paper document that they wrote individually. The scores obtained were converted into quantitative scores with a range of 0 - 100, qualitative scores (E - A) and then interpreted into 5 categories (very poor - excellent). The quantitative values were further analyzed using descriptive statistics to obtain mean, standard deviation, minimum value, maximum value and percentile data. Meanwhile, the qualitative values and their interpretation were analyzed using percentages. The results of the analysis showed that the students' scientific writing skills were at a value of 77.27. This quantitative value has grade B with good interpretation. From the results of the percentage analysis, it is known that as many as 47% of students have achieved a score of 75 and above, where the grade is B to A. Based on this data, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PBR model assisted by ETG media is effective in facilitating students to develop their scientific writing skills.
