Abstract

This paper aims to see how far BP4 Pariaman City has a role in strengthening human psycho-social in the field of social welfare; services for alumni of post-marriage couples need to be followed up with a balanced program. The lack of psycho-social understanding of pre-marital post-marriage course graduates will have great potential to add to the long line of early marriage ages in Pariaman City. The fundamental problem that is most troubling is their ignorance of the responsibilities, rights and obligations of husband and wife in the household. To overcome this solution, the service team identified the problem of spaciousness. It mapped the problem to be treated (treatment) for the subject of service through two stages: family psychology guidance and Islamic family counseling. The first stage is pre-activity in the form of a Focus Discussion Group (FGD) presenting lecturers as participants to provide input for the mentoring action plan to be carried out. The second stage is action activities, including psychological skill assistance in family psychology and group counseling. This activity has generally received appreciation from stakeholders (BP4 Pariaman City management, pre-marital course alumni) because this program has offered various alternatives for their self-development in elaborating their knowledge to be applied in household life. The results of the reflection and evaluation of the program offered by the service conclude that they understand that a sakinah mawaddah wa rahmah household life is not achieved by material wealth but by the ability to accept oneself and have a correct understanding of an Islamic household. They understand that household problems cannot be measured only by logic. However, it includes religious and spiritual matters the human mind cannot reach. Therefore, they understand that household responsibilities are worldly matters and matters of the afterlife, which are related to God.

Abstract

This study explores the role of motivation, self-efficacy, and peer support in influencing student engagement in higher education, aiming to connect theoretical perspectives with practical applications. A quantitative correlational research design was utilized, involving 223 university students from various faculties. Participants completed validated questionnaires measuring intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, academic self-efficacy, perceived peer support, and student engagement's behavioral, emotional, and cognitive dimensions. Data were analyzed using multiple regression techniques to determine the predictive strength of each variable. Results revealed that motivation and self-efficacy were significant predictors of student engagement, explaining a substantial portion of the variance. Peer support also demonstrated a comparatively more minor positive effect on engagement. These findings highlight the importance of internal psychological and external social influences in enhancing student engagement. The study supports integrating motivation theory and social learning principles into educational practice. Practical implications suggest that educators should foster supportive peer environments while promoting student motivation and confidence to improve learning outcomes. This research contributes to the growing body of literature emphasizing the multifaceted nature of student engagement and offers a foundation for future intervention-based studies in diverse educational settings.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between social-emotional competence (SEC) and teachers’ teaching skills (TTS) among a sample of 328 secondary school teachers in the Petaling Utama District, Selangor. The quantitative research employs the social, and emotional learning (CASEL) model to assess SEC and the Malaysian Teacher Standards provided by the Ministry of Education to evaluate TTS. The findings indicate that the overall level of TTS is slightly higher, with an average score of 3.282, compared to the SEC’s average score of 3.212. through Pearson correlation analysis, the study identifies a significant positive relationship between various SEC elements such as self-awareness (SA), self-management (SM), social awareness (SOA), relationship skills (RS), and making rational decision (MRD) and TTS, with RS demonstrating the highest correlation at r=0.562, p0.05. Further analysis using multiple regression reveals that SEC elements significantly contribute to variations in TTS, with SM emerging as the most significant predictor, showing a Beta value of 0.248 (24.8%). The study underscores the critical role that SEC plays in enhancing TTS, suggesting that beyond traditional training, a more in-depth and sustained focus on developing SEC could lead to significant improvements in teacher competency. Future research is recommended to continue exploring this connection to further enhance educational outcomes.
