Abstract

Introduction: Violence in educational settings is a critical issue worldwide, particularly in Indonesia. Schools, as environments for learning and socialization, should be safe spaces, yet violence remains prevalent and often unaddressed. This community service project aimed to tackle this issue by providing a targeted counseling program for junior high school students in Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. Objective: The program aimed to raise awareness about violence, enhance students' understanding of its types and impacts, and equip them with skills to prevent and address violence. The project sought to empower students to take proactive steps in creating a safer school environment. Method: Conducted on December 10, 2024, at SMPN 11 Kupang, the program involved 80 students from grades VII to IX. Students were selected based on recommendations from counseling teachers. The program included a presentation on violence, followed by group discussions and simulations. Effectiveness was measured using pre-test and post-test questionnaires to assess changes in students’ knowledge and confidence. Results: Significant improvement was observed. Before the session, only 40% of students could define violence correctly, while 88% did afterward. Confidence in reporting violence increased from 50% to 90%. Group discussions also revealed a heightened awareness of creating a supportive school environment. Conclusion: The program successfully enhanced students’ knowledge and confidence in addressing violence, highlighting the importance of educational interventions. Future programs should incorporate parental involvement to ensure sustained impact.

Abstract

Introduction: Work stress is a significant issue that can adversely impact both physical and mental health, particularly among healthcare professionals like nurses. It often arises from high patient demands, heavy workloads, and emergency situations requiring quick responses. Objective: This study aims to describe the level of work stress experienced by nurses in the inpatient ward of So'e Regional General Hospital and to identify the associated symptoms. Method: The research employed a descriptive design with a quantitative approach, utilizing a case study format. A structured questionnaire was administered to collect data, involving 115 respondents who work in the inpatient ward. Result: The findings revealed that the majority of nurses experienced work stress categorized as mild, with only a small percentage reporting moderate or severe stress levels. Additionally, the data indicated that the prevalence of physiological, psychological, and behavioral symptoms among the respondents was generally low, suggesting that while stress is present, it may not be at a level that significantly affects their overall health. Conclusion: This study underscores the importance of understanding work stress conditions among nurses. The results provide a foundational overview that can inform the development of targeted stress management interventions in healthcare settings. By addressing these issues, hospitals can improve nurse well-being and enhance the overall quality of healthcare services, ultimately benefiting both staff and patients.

Abstract

Introduction: The provision of Complementary Feeding (MP-ASI) for children is a critical stage in growth and development, especially between the ages of 6-24 months. During this period, children transition from exclusive breastfeeding to other foods that support their nutritional needs. Inadequate MP-ASI can lead to nutritional problems that affect children's health and development. This study aims to examine the relationship between the provision of MP-ASI and nutritional status in children aged 6-24 months at the Sikumana Health Center in Kupang. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the impact of MP-ASI on the nutritional status of children aged 6-24 months and to assess whether the type and timing of MP-ASI affect children's nutritional status. Method: This research used a descriptive analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of children aged 6-24 months visiting the Sikumana Health Center. A total of 100 children were selected using simple random sampling. Data was collected through questionnaires, measurements of weight and height, and observations of MP-ASI practices. Descriptive statistics were used for data analysis, and the relationship between MP-ASI provision and nutritional status was analyzed using chi-square tests. Results: The majority of children (70%) who received adequate and timely MP-ASI had good nutritional status. Children who did not receive adequate or timely MP-ASI showed higher rates of malnutrition. Chi-square analysis showed a significant relationship between MP-ASI provision and nutritional status (p<0.05). Conclusion: The study concluded that appropriate MP-ASI provision is related to children's nutritional status. These findings are important for nursing practice, emphasizing the importance of educating about proper MP-ASI in primary healthcare settings.
