Abstract

The effectiveness of the learning process in swimming greatly depends on innovative learning media. This research aims to develop and produce a pull buoy as an effective swimming learning medium. This research uses the ADDIE model for Research and Development (R&D) research. The study was conducted at Tadulako University with the collaboration of swimming material experts, instructional design experts, and learning media experts. The research involved 40 students enrolled in swimming learning courses, and data were collected through observation and questionnaires. The assessment by learning design and learning media experts revealed that the developed Pull Buoy achieved high-quality learning standards. Furthermore, both small group and large group evaluations demonstrated feasibility and outstanding performance. The research offers valuable insights and recommendations for future researchers to refine and expand the Pull Buoy's development, suggesting customization of its colour combinations and sizes to suit different age groups of users and advocating for a larger pool of subjects to yield more comprehensive results and insights into the learning medium's impact.

Abstract

This study aims the effectiveness of the Dogomo Makodo program in enhancing health literacy among elementary school students by integrating physical education, science (IPA), and local wisdom in coastal Morotai. The program incorporates outdoor activities such as traditional games (Ban Laju, Gasing, and Jalan Sehat) and cultural practices like cooking Tabojou, aiming to deepen students’ understanding of health concepts, bodily functions, nutrition, and healthy living habits. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study involved 20 upper-grade elementary students. Data were gathered through pre-tests and post-tests to measure cognitive gains, along with Likert-scale questionnaires to explore students’ perceptions of the program. Results showed a significant improvement in students’ health knowledge and behaviors. The integration of science and physical education provided a meaningful, engaging, and contextual learning experience. Moreover, the use of local cultural elements not only strengthened students’ emotional engagement and identity but also extended the learning impact into their homes and communities. The Dogomo Makodo model demonstrates an innovative, student-centered educational approach that aligns with the Merdeka Curriculum. It is recommended for replication in other rural and culturally diverse settings to support nationwide efforts in promoting health literacy at the primary education level.

Abstract

Obesity among college students poses a significant health concern, as excess weight heightens the risk of various diseases. The study aims to determine the effects of a 12-week resistance band weight training program on weight loss in obese college students. This research employs an experimental method, specifically using a "One Group Pre-Post Test Design." This involves administering a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after the intervention. The participants in this study are adolescent athletes from the State University of Jakarta. The sample consists of 30 individuals selected through purposive sampling based on specific criteria: students from the State University of Jakarta, aged 16-23 years, both male and female. Data collection involves the experimental group and control group, the participant's BMI before and after the 12-week resistance band training program. BMI measurements were conducted using the OMRON brand BIA (Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis) method. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21, which includes the normality prerequisite test and is continued with the independent Sample T-Test. The results of the Independent Sample T-Test showed that the Sig value was 0.000 < 0.05. A 12-week resistance band weight training program has a significant effect on weight loss in obese college students. Therefore, the resistance band strength training model significantly influences weight loss more than traditional training methods. This suggests that resistance band training is highly effective for weight loss in adolescents aged 16-23 years and can be incorporated into physical exercise programs for this age group.
