Abstract

Introduction:According to WHO data, the prevalence of hypertension in the elderly is 29%, with Indonesia ranging from 26% to 31%. In East Java, the prevalence is 26.2%, while Jember Regency has 198,562 residents in the Sukowono area, ranking second in hypertension cases. Data from the elderly posyandu in Sumber Wringin Village shows that 10.3% of elderly individuals suffer from hypertension. Managing hypertension in the elderly requires treatment options that minimize side effects while preventing morbidity, mortality, and maintaining normal blood pressure. One effective technique is slow deep breathing therapy. This study aimed to examine the difference in blood pressure before and after administering slow deep breathing therapy to hypertensive patients at the elderly posyandu. Methods: This research employed a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study population consisted of 40 hypertensive patients at the elderly posyandu, with a sample size of 36 individuals selected through simple random sampling. Results: Data collection involved observation sheets and blood pressure measurements. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. Before the intervention, the majority of respondents (58.3%) were categorized as having severe hypertension. After the intervention, 55.6% of respondents experienced moderate hypertension. Statistical analysis showed a significant difference in blood pressure before and after slow deep breathing therapy, with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: Slow deep breathing therapy effectively reduces blood pressure in hypertensive elderly patients at the posyandu. It is recommended for hypertension management, with a duration of 10–15 minutes per session, performed twice daily in the morning and evening, to promote sustained blood pressure improvements.

Abstract

Children aged 12-24 months are included in the golden period of the first 1000 days of life, wheretheir nutritional needs greatly affect growth and development in the future. The role of themother is very influential in the upbringing and care of the child. This study aimed to determinethe relationship between parenting style and nutritional status of babies aged 12-24 months atthe Jelbuk Public Health Center, Jember Regency. The research design used was cross-sectional.The sampling technique used proportionate random sampling and obtained a total sample of 97mothers and babies under two years. Mothers were instructed to fill out mother's parentingquestionnaires. The nutritional status of children under two years is measured by weight/ageindicators and interpreted based on the WHO classification of nutritional status. The child'sweight was obtained using a hanging-type scale (dacin). Statistical analysis using Spearman rankwith significance ≤0.05. Most children (50%) of mothers with permissive parenting areunderweight, 47.1% are normal, and 2.9% are at risk of being overweight. Most children (86%)of mothers with democratic parenting have normal nutritional status, and 14% are underweight. Most children (83.3%) of mothers with authoritarian parenting have normal weight, and 16.7%are underweight. There is a relationship between parenting style and the nutritional status ofchildren aged 12-24 months (p value = 0.001; α = 0.05). The application of democratic parentinghas the potential to cause normal weight in children. Therefore, health promotion is neededabout parenting by related parties to mothers of children because parenting affects eating habitsthat impact children's nutritional status.

The diet of toddlers plays a very important role in the process. growth in toddlers, because food contains many nutrients. Objective: The aim of this research is to analyze the relationship between feeding patterns and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 12-59 months in the Jelbuk Community Health Center working area, Jember Regency. Method: The method in this research is quantitative correlational with an observational approach and a cross-sectional research design. The total sample was 95 respondents using cluster sampling techniques with the Slovin formula. The measurement instrument for this research uses the CFQ (Child Feeding Questionnaire) questionnaire, then assesses stunting in toddlers using microtoise measurements and converts it into a standardized value (Zscore) using the WHO-2005 anthropometric standards for toddlers. Results: The results of this study show that the majority of respondents have inappropriate eating patterns, 61 (64.2%) respondents, and the majority of respondents experience stunting, 65 (68.4%) respondents. The results of the Spearman's Rho statistical test show that the p-value value = 0.000 so there is a significant relationship between feeding patterns and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 12-59 months. Discussion: When mothers adopt an appropriate diet, the incidence of stunting in toddlers is lower, whereas when mothers adopt an inappropriate diet, the incidence of stunting in toddlers has the potential to increase.

There were 90 respondents present in the study and samples used as many as 84 respondents using the Proportionate Stratified Random Sampling technique. The instruments used are questionnaires related to knowledge of reproductive health and Pruritus Vulvae. The questionnaire has been tested for validity and rehabilitation. Data analyzed using the Spearman test. Results: From the results of the univariate analysis showed that 45 (53,57%) respondents have high knowledge, 34 (40,48%) respondent have moderate knowledge, and respondent has low knowledge 5 (5,95%). As well as 66 (78,57%) respondents do not have Pruritus Vulvae and 18 (21,43%) respondants have pruritus vulvae. The result of bivariat analysis obtained p-value (0,012) ≤ α (0,05), that there is a relationship of knowledge of reproductive health with the occurrence of Priritus Vulvae. Conclusions: The majority of Panji high school pupils have high knowledge of reproductive health and do not experience Pruritus Vulvae. So it can be concluded that there is a correlation between the knowledge of Reproductive Health and the occurrence of pruritus vulvae in teenage daughters aged 13-15 years. Abstract

Abstract Introduction: Managing diabetes is complex and demands daily responsibilities like regular blood glucose testing, intensive insulin treatment, careful dietary monitoring, and enhanced physical activity. These challenges make it difficult for children and their families to maintain consistent adherence to diabetes management routines. Failure to adhere to diabetes management can lead to serious complications and may even result in death. Identifying the factors that hinder treatment adherence is essential for developing effective strategies and interventions to overcome these obstacles and improve diabetes management in children. This study aimed to identify barriers on diabetes management adherence in children with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus. Methods: The research design used a systematic review following the PRISMA guidelines and utilized five databases including Proquest, Science Direct, Springer Link, Sage Journals, and Google Scholar with the keywords: “Barriers” OR “Challenges” OR “Difficulties” AND “Diabetes management” AND “Adherence” AND “Children” AND “Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus”. A total of eight articles were reviewed based on the inclusion criteria. The JBI Critical Appraisal Tools were also used as a guideline to evaluate the quality of the articles. Results: This review identifies various barriers to adherence in diabetes management in children with T1DM, including personal, sociocultural, interpersonal, environmental, and financial barriers. Conclusions: The findings from this review suggest several strategies to address barriers to diabetes management adherence involving parents, family, school, and health services. Keywords: Barriers, diabetes management, children, type 1 diabetes mellitus

Abstract

The technology-based daily recording of children's dietary is expected to be able to provide an easier overview of children's nutritional status. So, it will reduce the number of nutritional imbalances in children. This research aimed to know to determine the effectiveness of children's daily dietary recording with an application to estimate children's nutritional needs. The research method was used a literature review study. Result: From the results of the study, it was concluded that the use of food recording applications, either using photos or not, provides increased information on children's daily nutrition. The application allows an estimation of children's diet's food portions and nutrition. It may become a benchmark for parents or health workers in providing children's diets. The dietary assessment application can be used in the community and hospitals to monitor children's nutrition status. It is recommended that further research include food waste in the calculation so that the daily energy estimate is more accurate.
