Abstract

Human’s life is guided by solme primolrdial images called archetypes which have been inherited frolm the ancestolrs. Olne olf the archetypes is the self. It moltivates human tol reach unity which becolmes the golal olf life. Self is olnly folund when an individual has gained individuatioln prolcess. It is the prolcess in which an individual learns abolut himself and accept his weaknesses and his strength. During the prolcess, olne may struggle tol decide between golold olr evil, right olr wrolng, and what tol sholw olr hide. The molst difficult thing is tol acknolwledge olur shadolw and accept it as part olf olur self. This research is tol reveal Nel Wright’s experience in integrating the colnflicting aspects olf her persolnality within individuatioln prolcess. Thus, the data are colllected throlugh library research. The main data olf the thesis is Tolni Molrrisoln’s nolvel, Sula. The first step tol analyze Nel Wright’s individuatioln prolcess and it must be dolne by analyzing the intrinsic elements olf the nolvel particularly the setting, the character and characterizatioln. The analysis olf the archetypes and their rolles within the individuatioln prolcess will be dolne based oln theolry olf Jungian Analytical Psychollolgy.

Abstract

The ecranisation is a process of filtering, transferring, or eliminating features from a novel into a film. The purpose of this study is to explore different adaptations of Lewis Caroll's (1832-1898) classic books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Alice in Wonderland’s Tim Burton (2010). It is necessary to understand how adaptation theory used to transform a literary work into the visual structure of a film. This study also shows how different forms of media presentation can influence adaptation differently.

Abstract

Bahasa Inggris adalah keterampilan akademik wajib bagi setiap lulusan universitas dan dapat diukur dengan tes TOEFL, yang telah menjadi tolok ukur bahasa Inggris umum di universitas-universitas di Indonesia. Berdasarkan hasil tes TOEFL mahasiswa baru Universitas Teknologi Surabaya (UTS), diketahui skor struktural masih rendah dibandingkan dengan menyimak dan membaca. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan struktural kelas S1 Manajemen UTS dengan gaya belajar Cooperative Jigsaw. Penelitian ini juga mendeskripsikan proses pembelajaran tipe Jigsaw dan reaksi siswa terhadap metode tersebut. Alat penelitian berupa tes, observasi dan angket. Hasil belajar siswa pada siklus 1 adalah 4,5% dari 22 siswa dan bertambah menjadi 45% setelah siklus. Berdasarkan observasi dan angket juga menunjukkan bahwa indikator kinerja dan respon mahasiswa terhadap perkuliahan meningkat dari 67,46 % menjadi 81,81 %. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode pembelajaran tipe jigsaw dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar dan motivasi belajar.
