Abstract

Spoken language is mostly used in social interactions, especially in formal seminar forum to express idea and discuss particular subject. Therefore, spoken discourse needs to be seen in its social context. This paper focus to analyze interruptions among presenter, advisors, examiners, and audiences in research seminar forum. This research based on a study conducted in 2022 at Post Graduate Program State University of Makassar, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. To collect data, the researcher recorded the research seminar were obtained, transcribed, and analyzed by using discourse analysis approach. Interruption analysis used by (Graddol,1994). The results of this research are stated as follows, four types of interruption occurs through research seminar. They are simple interruption, overlap interruption, silent interruption and butting-in interruption. The highest frequency of the types of interruptions is simple interruption. Simple interruption appears 11extract, 1 times out of 26 total data extract. The lowest frequency is obtained by butting-in interruption with 2 data extract. This study is a kind of spoken discourse analysis which analyzes interruptions in research seminar interactions, it also includes identify the definition and described the types of those features which are different based on the context of interactions in research seminar.

Abstract

In the realm of university scholarship programs, the process of selecting deserving recipients presents a complex decision-making challenge. This study explores the integration of Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) into the modeling of a Decision Support System (DSS) aimed at facilitating the determination of scholarship awardees. The utilization of Fuzzy AHP enables a more comprehensive and nuanced evaluation of candidates by accommodating uncertainties and imprecisions inherent in the decision-making process. This research investigates the application of Fuzzy AHP within the specific context of university scholarship recipient selection. The proposed DSS framework not only enhances the objectivity and transparency of the decision-making process but also contributes to the optimization of resource allocation and the identification of candidates best aligned with the scholarship's objectives. By employing Fuzzy AHP in this decision-support context, universities can effectively address the intricate considerations involved in awarding scholarships, thereby promoting fairness and increasing the likelihood of rewarding the most deserving individuals.

Abstract

Dalam era digital saat ini, keterampilan literasi digital menjadi kebutuhan utama bagi generasi muda, terutama siswa di tingkat Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK). Literasi digital tidak hanya mencakup kemampuan teknis dalam menggunakan perangkat teknologi, tetapi juga kemampuan untuk memahami, mengevaluasi, dan menggunakan informasi secara kritis dan etis. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji peran media literasi digital sebagai bagian dari pojok baca di SMK, yang dapat menjadi sarana efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan literasi digital siswa. Dengan menggunakan pendekatan partisipatif, artikel ini menjelaskan bagaimana pojok baca digital dapat diintegrasikan dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar di SMK, serta bagaimana media digital dapat mendukung pengembangan literasi informasi, peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis, dan pemanfaatan teknologi dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Hasil dari kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa pojok baca digital di SMK dapat meningkatkan pemahaman siswa mengenai literasi digital, yang pada gilirannya membantu mereka dalam mengakses dan mengelola informasi secara efektif.

Abstract

Websites and cloud computing are strategic foundations for supporting digital marketing, education management, and marketing strategies in primary and secondary education schools. The website functions as an official information centre that conveys the achievements that have been achieved by the school, activities, and superior programs, as well as a marketing tool to build school branding. Cloud computing technology supports efficient data management, collaboration, and marketing optimization. This study aims to review the role of websites and integration of productivity suite platforms in supporting digital marketing for education management in primary and secondary education schools, as well as the implementation of effective marketing strategies for non-profit schools. With strong branding, effective marketing communications, and data-driven analytics, schools can increase visibility, public trust, and audience engagement. The integration of technologies such as productivity suite platforms further strengthens the operational efficiency and effectiveness of school marketing. This study is expected to provide valuable insights for stakeholders in the field of education regarding best practices and innovative strategies in utilizing websites and cloud computing technology to achieve school goals in the digital era.

Abstract

FIDS atau Flight Information Display System merupakan suatu sistem komunikasi data yang berfungsi menampilkan informasi penerbangan melalui layar monitor televisi dan memanfaatkan fasilitas jaringan komputer / network. Menurut informasi dari Divisi Airport Technologi pada pusat informasi jadwal penerbangan di Bandar Udara Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Balikpapan, FIDS pernah mengalami kendala atau hambatan yang menyebabkan proses penggunaannya tidak stabil. Seperti terputusnya supply tenaga listrik yang menyebabkan beberapa perangkat IT di ruang server mengalami power off / shutdown yang mengakibatkan FIDS tidak berfungsi dan ditemukan seluruh interface yang terhubung ke end device server mengalami error-disabled. Hal ini dikarenakan kurangnya antisipasi terhadap risiko yang akan terjadi pada aset SI/TI yang berhubungan langsung dengan FIDS. Berdasarkan ancaman tersebut, diperlukan penanganan dan penilaian risiko dalam proses manajemen risiko keamanan FIDS menggunakan metode NIST SP 800-30. NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) SP (Special Publication) 800-30 adalah dokumen standar yang berisi panduan dalam melakukan penilaian risiko sistem teknologi informasi di sebuah perusahaan atau organisasi. Adapun tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi, menilai risiko, dan memberikan rekomendasi kontrol berupa penerimaan risiko aset, beserta menentukan perencanaan dalam proses peringanan / mitigasi risiko dan evaluasi risiko terhadap keamanan FIDS di Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport.

Abstract

The technological era of disruption 4.0, education plays an important role in preparing superior, skilled, professional, and competitive human resources. The Indonesian government must make comprehensive preparations, including improving quality education services that can produce graduates according to their fields of expertise. Vocational High School (SMK) focuses on developing students' ability to work in a particular field, adapt to the work environment, and see future job opportunities. In particular, the agribusiness expertise program for agricultural product processing in SMK has great potential to support the local economy and farmers' welfare. Evaluating the competency profile of SMK graduates in this field is crucial to ensure the curriculum's suitability with the job market's needs. This study aims to evaluate the profile of agribusiness competence in SMK, using data from the education curriculum, stakeholder perspectives, and the development of the agribusiness industry. The research method used is qualitative-quantitative, with data obtained through observation, interviews, and surveys at SMK Negeri 3 Tarakan, SMK Negeri 1 Nunukan, and several MSMEs in North Kalimantan. The results showed that several competence points had yet to be maximised in its application, such as quality management, food safety standards, and production process management. Factors that influence the suboptimal application of competencies include limited resources, facilities, and access to technology. This study recommends improving teaching staff qualifications, facilities and infrastructure, and access to technology to improve learning effectiveness. Thus, it is expected that vocational education in Indonesia can be more relevant and efficient in preparing graduates who are ready to face challenges and opportunities in the agribusiness sector of agricultural product processing.

Abstract

Studi ini menyelidiki keefektifan selective underlining strategy dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca kritis di kalangan mahasiswa. Menggunakan metode penelitian tindakan kelas, bertujuan untuk minangkatkan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa dalam hal menemukan gagasan utama dan rincian pendukung melalui selective underlining strategy dalam pengajaran membaca. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Universitas Mulia pada mahasiswa semester dua Progran Studi Informatika melalui penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Peneliti mengambil 37 Mahasiswa sebagai subjek penelitian. Peneliti mengajarkan pemahaman membaca menggunakan selective underlining strategy. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan selective underlining strategy dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa, dari siklus I ke siklus II. Pada siklus I, pencapaian ide pokok dan rincian pendukung siswa dalam pemahaman membaca adalah 57,8%, namun setelah dievaluasi pada siklus II pemahaman membaca siswa menjadi 79,0%. Sebaliknya, gagasan utama siswa dalam pemahaman membaca dikembangkan dari siklus I ke siklus II, dimana pada siklus I pencapaian gagasan utama siswa dalam pemahaman membaca adalah 58,1%, namun setelah dievaluasi pada siklus II pencapaian gagasan utama siswa menjadi 79,7%. Pada siklus I prestasi siswa dalam menemukan rincian pendukung sebesar 57,6%, namun setelah dilakukan evaluasi pada siklus II menjadi 78,4%. Sedangkan pencapaian target standar KKM 70. Penelitian ini berkontribusi terhadap berkembangnya literatur mengenai strategi membaca efektif di perguruan tinggi dan menawarkan implikasi praktis bagi para pendidik yang berupaya meningkatkan keterampilan membaca kritis mahasiswanya. Dari temuan ini, peneliti menyimpulkan bahwa dengan menggunakan teknik Selective Underlining Strategy dapat meningkatkan prestasi pemahaman membaca mahasiswa dan membuat mahasiswa aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. ____________________________________________________________________________________ The effectiveness of the selective underlining technique in improving university students' critical reading abilities was examined in this study. Using the Selective Underlining Strategy in reading instruction, the goal of the classroom action research approach was to clarify how students' reading comprehension improved in terms of identifying the main concept and supporting details. Applying classroom action research (CAR), the study was conducted with informatics students at Mulia University during the second semester. 37 pupils were selected by the researcher to be the study's subjects. The Selective Underlining Strategy was used by the researcher to teach reading comprehension. According to the research findings, students' reading comprehension from cycle I to cycle II could be enhanced by employing the Selective Underlining Strategy. Following assessment in cycle II, the students' reading comprehension increased to 79.0% from their cycle I achievement of key ideas and supporting details of 57.8%. On the other hand, the students' major concept for reading comprehension improved from cycle I to cycle II. Specifically, after cycle II evaluation, the students' main idea for reading comprehension increased from 58.1% in cycle I to 79.7%. Students' success rate in locating supporting details was 57.6% in cycle I, but after evaluation in cycle II, it increased to 78.4%. While KKM 70 is the standard objective achievement. This study adds to the expanding corpus of research on successful reading practices in higher education and provides educators looking to improve their students' critical reading abilities with useful takeaways. Based on these results, the researcher concluded that employing the Selective Underlining Strategy technique could improve students' reading comprehension performance and engage them in the process of learning

Abstract

Sistem Informasi Akademik (SIAKAD) dibentuk sebagai hasil dari kemajuan teknologi informasi, yang mendorong peningkatan layanan akademik di perguruan tinggi. Mahasiswa menggunakan SIAKAD ini sebagai sarana utama untuk mengakses berbagai data penting, seperti nilai, KRS, jadwal kuliah, dan data administrasi lainnya. Namun, keberhasilan sistem informasi tidak hanya tergantung pada kemampuan fungsinya, tetapi juga seberapa mudah digunakan, yang berdampak pada pengalaman dan persepsi pengguna. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yakni guna mengevaluasi tingkat kemudahan penggunaan sistem informasi akademik Universitas Mulia, serta bagaimana hal itu berdampak pada kepuasan pengguna mahasiswa dan kualitas penyampaian informasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode System Usability Scale, dengan Skala Likert sebagai acuan. Data dikumpulkan dengan menyebarkan kuesioner online yang dibagikan kepada 81 mahasiswa aktif Universitas Mulia yang secara rutin sudah menggunakan SIAKAD. Untuk mengukur tingkat usability, metode Sistem Usability Scale (SUS) digunakan. Di sisi lain, kepuasan pengguna dan penyajian informasi diukur dengan skala Likert. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tingkat usability sistem masih sedang dan belum optimal, dengan nilai SUS rata-rata 52,19 yang termasuk dalam kategori marginal. Hasil uji regresi menunjukkan bahwa usability tidak memengaruhi kepuasan pengguna atau kualitas penyajian informasi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa cenderung lebih memprioritaskan fungsi sistem yang penting untuk memenuhi kebutuhan akademik daripada fitur antarmuka yang mudah digunakan. Namun, temuan penelitian ini dapat digunakan oleh pengelola sistem untuk menilai dan meningkatkan pengalaman pengguna di masa mendatang.

Abstract

Abstract: The persistent challenge of low reading motivation and comprehension among English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners necessitates innovative pedagogical interventions. This study investigates the implementation of Discovery Learning Method within extensive reading programs as a means to enhance both reading motivation and comprehension among Indonesian university students. Employing a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design conducted over two iterative cycles, the research involved 31 undergraduate students enrolled in an English Class. Data were collected through pre- and post-tests, reading motivation questionnaires, classroom observations, and reflective journals. The intervention integrated Discovery Learning principles—stimulation, problem statement, data collection, data processing, verification, and generalization—into extensive reading sessions where students autonomously selected reading materials and constructed meaning through guided discovery. Quantitative findings revealed substantial improvements across both cycles: mean reading comprehension scores increased from 53.87 (Cycle I) to 73.55 (Cycle II), while reading motivation scores rose from 65.3 to 81.2. Qualitative data indicated enhanced student engagement, increased autonomous learning behaviors, and improved critical thinking skills. The study demonstrates that Discovery Learning Method, when systematically integrated into extensive reading programs, creates a synergistic effect that simultaneously addresses motivational and cognitive dimensions of reading. These findings contribute to the theoretical understanding of constructivist approaches in L2 reading pedagogy and offer practical implications for curriculum designers and English language educators seeking evidence-based strategies to foster meaningful reading engagement in EFL contexts. Keywords: Discovery Learning, Extensive Reading, Reading Motivation, Reading Comprehension, Classroom Action Research, EFL Pedagogy, Constructivist Learning Abstrak: Tantangan yang berkelanjutan berupa rendahnya motivasi dan pemahaman membaca pada pembelajar Bahasa Inggris sebagai Bahasa Asing (EFL) menuntut adanya intervensi pedagogis yang inovatif. Penelitian ini menginvestigasi implementasi Metode Discovery Learning dalam program membaca ekstensif sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan pemahaman membaca mahasiswa perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilaksanakan dalam dua siklus iteratif dan melibatkan 31 mahasiswa pada kelas bahasa Inggris. Data dikumpulkan melalui pre-test dan post-test, angket motivasi membaca, observasi kelas, serta jurnal reflektif. Intervensi penelitian mengintegrasikan prinsip-prinsip Discovery Learning—stimulasi, perumusan masalah, pengumpulan data, pengolahan data, verifikasi, dan generalisasi—ke dalam sesi membaca ekstensif, di mana mahasiswa secara mandiri memilih bahan bacaan dan mengonstruksi pemahaman melalui proses penemuan yang terarah. Temuan kuantitatif menunjukkan peningkatan yang signifikan pada kedua siklus: rata-rata skor pemahaman membaca meningkat dari 53,87 (Siklus I) menjadi 73,55 (Siklus II), sedangkan skor motivasi membaca meningkat dari 65,3 menjadi 81,2. Data kualitatif mengindikasikan adanya peningkatan keterlibatan mahasiswa, berkembangnya perilaku belajar mandiri, serta peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Metode Discovery Learning, ketika diintegrasikan secara sistematis dalam program membaca ekstensif, menghasilkan efek sinergis yang secara simultan mengakomodasi dimensi motivasional dan kognitif dalam aktivitas membaca. Temuan ini berkontribusi terhadap penguatan pemahaman teoretis mengenai pendekatan konstruktivis dalam pedagogi membaca bahasa kedua serta memberikan implikasi praktis bagi perancang kurikulum dan pendidik bahasa Inggris yang mencari strategi berbasis bukti untuk menumbuhkan keterlibatan membaca yang bermakna dalam konteks EFL.
