Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of the Pre-Reading Plan (PREP) strategy in enhancing reading comprehension among eighth-grade students at SMPN 3 Panca Rijang. Employing a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest method, the research involved 20 students and one English teacher as participants. Data collection included pretests, posttests, and questionnaires, analyzed through qualitative and quantitative methods. Results indicated significant improvements in students' reading comprehension post-implementation of the PREP strategy, with the percentage of students meeting the minimum completeness criteria increasing from 35% to 70%. Additionally, students exhibited higher engagement levels during learning activities, and the teacher's performance in classroom management improved. Many students expressed a positive interest in the PREP strategy. These findings support the conclusion that the PREP strategy effectively enhances reading comprehension among students. It is recommended that the PREP strategy be adopted more widely to foster improved reading skills in English language learning contexts, as it encourages students to activate prior knowledge and engage more deeply with the reading material. Overall, this research highlights the importance of interactive and student-centered teaching strategies in improving reading comprehension and fostering a positive learning environment.

Abstract

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease that remains a major public health problem due to its high prevalence and low detection rate. Limited community knowledge regarding risk factors and hypertension prevention contributes to increased cardiovascular complications. This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge about hypertension prevention through health education. The program was conducted in Sunggumanai Hamlet, Belapunranga Village, Gowa Regency, involving 30 community members. The method applied was interactive lectures supported by visual media and discussions, accompanied by pre-test and post-test assessments to measure knowledge levels. The results indicated a significant improvement in participants’ knowledge. Prior to the intervention, 90.0% of respondents had low knowledge, while after the education session, 96.7% demonstrated adequate knowledge. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference before and after the intervention (p=0.000). These findings indicate that health education is effective in increasing community knowledge regarding hypertension prevention. Continuous and sustainable educational programs are recommended to support long-term healthy lifestyle changes in the community.

Abstract

Quality primary healthcare services depend heavily on the availability of safe, high-quality, and affordable pharmaceutical preparations. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the pharmaceutical logistics management system at the Tamalate Community Health Center in Makassar City in 2025. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation studies of managerial instruments such as LPLPO, stock cards, and minutes. Research informants included the Head of the Community Health Center, Pharmaceutical Technical Personnel, and Warehouse Officers. The results show that the Tamalate Community Health Center has implemented a logistics cycle in accordance with Minister of Health Regulation Number 74 of 2016. The planning stage is carried out using the consumption method using the LPLPO application. At the receiving stage, the community health center implements detailed physical verification per item although it does not use formal minutes for each transaction. Storage has implemented the FEFO and FIFO principles, supported by daily temperature monitoring, although limited warehouse space poses a physical challenge. Distribution is carried out systematically to service units, with challenges in real-time data integration. This study recommends strengthening the digitalization of stock management and optimizing storage infrastructure to ensure the efficiency of the drug supply chain in the digital health era.
