Abstract

The process of preparing a thesis is a crucial stage in the academic journey of undergraduate Biology students. At this stage, students are faced with complex and demanding tasks, requiring effective self-regulation skills and resilience to academic pressure. This research aims to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress among undergraduate Biology students at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Pattimura University, during the thesis preparation process. This research employs a quantitative approach with data collection through questionnaires distributed to undergraduate Biology students. Statistical analyses, such as correlation, will be utilized to assess the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress. The research findings reveal that the most common level of self-efficacy falls within the moderate category. Meanwhile, the categorization of academic stress levels indicates that the majority of respondents, comprising 19 individuals (44.2%), experience mild stress. Statistical analysis unveils a significant relationship between the level of self-efficacy and academic stress among students.

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes is a condition in which metabolism is disrupted. The large number of people who live in rural areas, especially in areas that are difficult to reach (isolated), makes it difficult to implement even distribution of development results such as education and health. Method: This research is a form of descriptive qualitative research with an exploratory observational design. Results: There are 6 types of plants used as diabetes mellitus medicine, namely sugar apple, horse grass, suruhan, lantana, antawali and castor oil. The plant parts used as medicine for diabetes mellitus are leaves, herbs and stems. Conclusion: Annona squamosa, Panicum maximum, Peperomia pellucida, Lantana camara, Tinospora crispa and Jatropha curcas L plants have potential as diabetes mellitus drugs.

Abstract

Hypertension is a condition in which blood pressure rises abnormally and continuously during several blood pressure checks. Traditional medicine is still used by the people of Indonesia in the current era of globalization, even though modern medicine has been applied. The purpose of this study was to study ethnomedicine medicinal plants for treating hypertension by traditional healers in Ambalau District, South Buru Regency. This type of research is descriptive qualitative with an observational exploratory design. Data was collected using in-depth interview techniques with 35 informants. Obtained data were analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the types of plants used in the treatment of hypertension include: fragrant pandan, African leaves, lima leaves, order, soursop and soursop. This indicates that the healers in the Ambalau sub-district have the same knowledge in utilizing medicinal plants to treat hypertension. Apart from that, there are also similarities in the parts that are widely used, namely herbs and leaves.

Abstract

Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a rapid-onset infection caused by the Dengue virus that can lead to severe shock and even death. Pometia pinnata, a plant found in the Maluku region, possesses untapped therapeutic potential despite the presence of secondary metabolite chemicals believed to have larvicidal properties. This study aims to evaluate the biolarvicidal efficacy of the leaf extract of Pometia pinnata against Aedes aegypti's larvae, a DHF carrier. The extraction process used the maceration technique employing ethanol as the solvent. A larvicidal experiment was performed to evaluate the bioactivity against Aedes aegypti larvae. The findings indicated that the leaf extract of Pometia pinnata possesses larvicidal properties against Aedes aegypti larvae, as evidenced by an LC50 value of 0.101%. The results offer insights into the possible utilisation of Pometia pinnata leaf extract as a viable source of active compounds for developing biolarvicides to control dengue vectors.

Abstract

According to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers Association (APJII) in 2018, approximately 49.52% of all internet users in Indonesia are aged between 19 and 34 years, with the majority of this age group being students. Prolonged computer use can lead to higher levels of asthenopia compared to other types of work. This study aims to examine the correlation between computer usage duration and the occurrence of asthenopia among students. A correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was employed in this study. A total of 76 participants were included, and data were collected via a questionnaire distributed online using Google Forms, which the respondents completed. The collected data were then analyzed univariately and bivariately using SPSS software. The results indicate that the majority of respondents experienced mild asthenopia, with a percentage of 78.9%. Statistical analysis showed no significant relationship between gender, duration of computer use, eye break intervals, history of major eye diseases, and medication consumption with the occurrence of asthenopia (p>0.05). However, a significant relationship was found between age and the occurrence of asthenopia (p<0.05).

Abstract
