Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to analyze respiratory physiology in patients with hypertension and asthma, as well as the pathophysiological interactions between these two diseases. An observational study was conducted on 200 patients consisting of 50 hypertension patients, 50 asthma patients, 50 patients with hypertension and asthma, and 50 healthy controls. Parameters measured include lung function (FEV1, FVC, PEFR), blood pressure, lung diffusion capacity, and systemic inflammatory biomarkers. The results showed that patients with hypertension experienced a 15% reduction in lung diffusion capacity compared to controls (p<0.01). Asthma patients showed a decrease in FEV1 and PEFR of 25% and 30% respectively (p<0.001). In the hypertension and asthma group, an additive effect was found with a more significant reduction in lung function (FEV1: -35%, PEFR: -40%, p<0.001) and an increase in systemic inflammatory biomarkers (CRP: +45%, p<0.01). Multivariate regression analysis showed a positive correlation between the severity of hypertension and decreased lung function in asthma patients (r=0.68, p<0.001). In conclusion, there is a significant pathophysiological interaction between hypertension and asthma that impacts respiratory physiology. These findings emphasize the importance of an integrated approach in the management of patients with both conditions.

Abstract

Abstract. The pancreas is a vital organ in the human digestive system, which has exocrine and endocrine functions. Its exocrine function involves the production and secretion of important digestive enzymes such as amylase, lipase, and protease, which are crucial for the digestion of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study method. This approach was chosen to enable an in-depth understanding of the mechanisms of digestive enzyme secretion in the pancreas through analysis and synthesis of information from the available literature. The aim of this study was to investigate in detail the mechanisms of digestive enzyme secretion in the human pancreas. Through a literature study approach, this research aims to identify the biochemical and physiological processes involved in the production and secretion of enzymes, consider the factors that influence these processes, and explore their health implications. The results of the analysis show that enzyme production in the pancreas involves a synthesis process in the acinar cells, with the important role of ribosomes, rough endoplasmic reticulum, and the Golgi apparatus. Regulation of enzyme secretion is influenced by hormones and nervous regulation, as well as nutrient interactions. The process of exocytosis, which involves vesicular transport and fusion of vesicles with membranes, is the main mechanism for enzyme release. This research provides a deeper understanding of the mechanism of digestive enzyme secretion in the pancreas.

Abstract

Abstract

Cancer remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Among the various types of cancer, cervical cancer is the fourth most common type of cancer in women globally and a significant cause of death. Cervical cancer is an abnormal cell growth in the cervix that can cause organ dysfunction. Human papilloma virus (HPV) infection is a major risk factor for cervical cancer, which is one of the leading causes of death in women worldwide.  The aim of this study was to assess how well health education can increase adolescents' awareness and knowledge about cervical cancer. The research method used a cross-sectional design with three stages, namely pre-test, material delivery, and post-test. The sample consisted of 33 students of SMA YAPIM Taruna Sei Gelugur Rimbun Medan aged 15-17 years old. The results showed a significant increase in students' knowledge, from 56.19% during the pre-test to 78.67% when given the post-test. A total of 39.3% of respondents had good knowledge, 33.3% had fair knowledge, and 27.2% had poor knowledge. Health education was effective in improving adolescents' understanding of cervical cancer, including causes, prevention, and early detection. This study shows the important role of health education in schools in preventing infectious diseases, especially cervical cancer.

Abstract

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the leading causes of death in Indonesia, whose prevalence continues to increase along with changes in lifestyle and the low level of public knowledge about the risk factors of this disease. The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of lifestyle and the level of public knowledge on the risk of CHD through a systematic review approach. This study used a qualitative descriptive method by analyzing ten scientific articles published between 2020 and 2025. The results of the review showed that unhealthy lifestyles, such as smoking, consumption of foods high in fat and salt, lack of physical activity, and conditions of hypertension and diabetes, significantly increase the risk of CHD. In addition, people's low understanding of a healthy diet, the importance of exercise, and awareness of avoiding risk factors are major barriers to prevention efforts. This study emphasizes the importance of health education and behavior change as key strategies in reducing the incidence of CHD. By increasing public awareness through nutrition education, promotion of healthy lifestyles, as well as the involvement of health workers and educational institutions, it is hoped that a culture of healthy living can be created from an early age as a long-term preventive measure.
