Abstract

This research explains the opportunities that Indonesia has as one of the countries with the largest number of sharia fintech in the world, which reached 61 companies in 2021. The study also discusses regulations and business models that can support the development of sharia fintech in Indonesia, given the importance of a clear legal framework to maintain trust and compliance with sharia principles. In addition, the analysis of public interest in sharia fintech shows that there is great potential for further development, although there are still challenges that need to be overcome such as financial literacy and access to technology. Overall, this study concludes that sharia fintech has great potential to support the economic empowerment of the people through inclusive and sharia-compliant financial services. However, to realize this potential, collaboration between the government, industry players, and the community is needed to create an ecosystem that is conducive to the development of sharia fintech.

Abstract

Indonesia's Sharia economy has grown rapidly in recent years, attracting the attention of investors both domestically and internationally. In 2019, the Indonesian government launched the Sharia Economic Masterplan 2019-2024 to strengthen the Islamic economic ecosystem and position Indonesia as the world's leading Islamic economic center. This study aims to analyze the role of each Islamic economic stakeholder in the 2019-2024 Indonesian Islamic Economics Masterplan using the Pentahelix concept analysis. The results show that the government plays a crucial role as a regulator in formulating policies and regulations that support Islamic economic development. Through research and public consultation, academics contribute relevant concepts and innovations to the development of the Islamic economy. Islamic business people and financial institutions, such as Islamic banking, Islamic capital markets, and MSMEs, play an essential role as drivers of the halal industry. The Islamic economic community acts as an accelerator in strengthening the halal industry in various sectors. Meanwhile, as a multiplier, the media plays an essential role in maximising the fulfillment of the halal market share by promoting and educating the public about the available halal products and services. It is hoped that the synergy between stakeholders can achieve inclusive, sustainable sharia economic growth and encourage the progress of the halal industry in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction: Islam urges every Muslim to work and comply with all Islamic principles. The Centre of Statistical Data (BPS) of Sukohajo noted that 94.8% of Sukoharjo’s population is Muslim. This indicates that Sukoharjo has great economic potential, especially in the field of halal lifestyle. This paper conducted a study with the aim to analyse the application of Islamic business ethics to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Sukoharjo. Research Methods: This research employs a qualitative analysis with a descriptive analysis method. Primary data were obtained through interviews and documentation with 28 MSMEs in Sukoharjo as the research sample. The data is then analysed by data reduction, data display, and data verification. Results: The result shows that the majority of MSMEs in Sukoharjo Regency have implemented Islamic business ethics such as honesty, fairness, greetings, trust, and selling halal products. However, religious activities for employees lack the practices. There are several internal and external factors shaping the implementation of Islamic business ethics of MSMEs in Sukoharjo, namely internal factors (beliefs) and external factors (science, family, social environment, experience, and type of business). Conclusion: The study humbly urges the Indonesian Ulema Council to incorporate Islamic business ethics in their teachings, shaping a better understanding of society and leading the optimisation of the application.

Abstract

Despite Indonesia’s vast waqf potential, asset management remains inefficient due to persistent issues of transparency, accountability, and public trust. This study examines the integration of blockchain technology within waqf management and its legitimacy under Islamic law, analyzed through the lens of maslahah mursalah and Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) fatwas. Previous studies on blockchain waqf have largely focused on technical feasibility and governance frameworks, yet have not sufficiently addressed its shariah legitimacy through usul fiqh reasoning. Employing a qualitative-descriptive method, the research integrates four analytical stages: (1) textual analysis of Qur’anic and Prophetic principles on transparency and trust (amanah), (2) review of MUI fatwas to identify legal boundaries for digital financial instruments, (3) comparative analysis of blockchain-based waqf models from Malaysia, Turkey, and the UAE, and (4) conceptual synthesis aligning technological transparency with the objectives of maslahah mursalah. Findings suggest that blockchain, when implemented within a shariah-governed framework, fulfills the criteria of public benefit and does not contravene existing fiqh principles, thus qualifying as a legitimate ijtihadi innovation (tathbiq al-maslahah). The study concludes that blockchain-based waqf has the potential to strengthen institutional credibility, enhance transparency, and optimize social welfare distribution. This research contributes to the development of sharia-compliant digital philanthropy frameworks in Indonesia and offers policy insights for the digital transformation of Islamic social finance institutions
