Abstract

Abstrak :Critical thinking skills can be developed through an ideal learning process. An alternative learning model that is thought to have the potential to develop students' critical thinking skills is the Discovery Learning learning model with Team Assisted Individualization (D-TAI). This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Discovery Learning model with Team Assisted Individualization (D-TAI) on the critical thinking skills of class X students regarding environmental change. This type of research is a quasi experiment using a pretest posttest control group design. The research was conducted at SMAN 2 Metro. The population in this study were all students in SMAN 2 Metro class X even semesters totaling 192. The samples in this study were all students in class X IPA 1 and class X IPA 6, totaling 62 students. Samples were taken using clustered random sampling technique. The data collection instrument was a test in the form of a description of 10 items. The data analysis technique used was the independent sample t-test and the N-Gain test. The results showed that the application of the D-TAI learning model was effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. This is indicated by the significadnt value (p<0.05), which means that there is a significant difference. Keywords: discovery learning, team assisted individualization (D-TAI), critical thinking skills.

Abstract

The management of household waste into granular fertilizer has great potential to support sustainable agriculture while enhancing community environmental literacy. This community service program was conducted in Giriklopomulyo Village, Sekampung District, East Lampung, through a participatory training approach and hands-on practice involving community leaders and two invited experts. Students were also engaged in the waste processing sessions and the preparation of procedural texts based on field experiences. The evaluation results indicated significant improvements in participants’ knowledge, technical skills, ecological awareness, and functional literacy. In addition, participants’ vocabulary mastery related to environmental and agricultural terms increased by 35% as shown in the pre-test and post-test results. The hands-on method proved effective in encouraging active involvement of both the community and students in addressing waste management issues. This program demonstrates that collaboration between universities and rural communities can create locally based, applicable solutions. These findings are essential as a foundation for developing similar programs in other regions with high organic waste potential.

Abstract

This qualitative study explores the interplay between digital literacy and learning motivation in shaping students’ academic writing abilities within an Islamic higher education context. Guided by three research aims, it investigates how students describe the role of digital literacy in their writing processes, how learning motivation influences their writing behaviors, and how both factors interact in their writing development. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and document analysis, enabling the capture of students’ voices and personal narratives. Findings reveal that digital literacy supports efficient research, idea organization, and editing skills, while learning motivation sustains persistence and goal orientation in writing tasks. The interaction between these factors fosters both technical competence and value-driven writing practices rooted in Islamic principles. This study offers practical insights for curriculum design, pedagogical strategies, and institutional policies aimed at empowering students to write with confidence, purpose, and integrity.

Abstract

Writing in Arabic (kitabah) remains a significant challenge, with only 31.1% of students able to produce formal texts with correct structure, while 68.9% struggle with diction selection and sentence construction. A preliminary study involving 22 fourth-semester students in the Arabic Language Education Program revealed a gap between instructional goals and classroom reality, largely due to monotonous conventional methods and one-way interactions lacking adequate feedback (70%). This study aims to examine the effectiveness of integrating e-learning and digital dictionaries using a mixed-method approach. Quantitative analysis was conducted through pre-test and post-test in the experimental group, while qualitative data were gathered via interviews and observations. Statistical results showed a significant improvement in the average score from 58.67 to 82.27 (Sig. 0.000), with a gain score of 0.63. Qualitatively, digital dictionary features enhanced learner autonomy and writing speed, while digital rubrics enabled instructors to provide more objective feedback. Nonetheless, the implementation faced challenges such as limited digital literacy and infrastructure readiness. The study concludes that technology integration is effective in improving students’ kitabah competence. The implications highlight the need for digital literacy training, the development of more inclusive platforms, and the refinement of AI-based assessment systems. Further research is recommended to evaluate the model's effectiveness across larger and more diverse institutional samples.
