Abstract

This research was conducted to investigate teacher`s belief about the implementation of curriculum 2013 in English language teaching. The research method used in this research is descriptive qualitative involving four teachers of junior high schools as the subjects. The data were collected using open-ended interview as the instrument. The result of this research showed that there were many kinds of activities which were mostly done by all participants; (1) teachers’ beliefs about curriculum 2013 understanding, (2) teachers’ beliefs about reaction of the learners, and (3) teachers’ beliefs about assessment in curriculum 2013. The teachers believed that curriculum changes brought positive, innovative, and creative impacts on English for future education. Besides, changes in the current curriculum also give influence on the way teachers and students understand English learning from previously traditionally based learning to modern pedagogical dimension. Therefore, it can be concluded that teachers` belief about curriculum 2013 has an impact on its implementation in English language teaching.

Abstract

Permasalahan fundamental yang melatarbelakangi inisiasi pengabdian ini adalah minimnya inovasi dan kreatifitas pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris di sekolah serta dampak dari era Covid-19 yang masih menjadi sebab utama menurunnya motivasi anak dalam mengikuti pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris Dusun IX, X Desa Gondangrejo Kecamatan Pekalongan, Kabupaten Lampung Timur. Program pengabdian masyarakat ini menawarkan solusi strategis yaitu pendampingan belajar Bahasa Inggris melalui Metode Fun English dan Media Flashcard. Program kergiatan ini mengintegrasikan tiga metode instruksional yang saling komplementer diantaranya: metode dialogis melalui diskusi interaktif, metode ekspositori dengan penyampaian materi terstruktur, dan metode introgatif sebagai bahan evaluasi. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan ini menunjukan bahwa anak-anak mengalami peningkatan kosakata Bahasa Inggris dari kategori animal, area, building dan noun dengan rata-rata hanya 4 anak yang menguasai pada kemampuan awal meningkat menjadi 30 anak pada kemampuan akhir, baik lisan maupun tertulis. Selain itu, anak-anak bersemangat mengikuti sesi pembelajaran dikarenakan mereka mendapat pengalaman belajar baru dengan media dan metode yang berbeda-beda. Program ini sekaligus membantu stakeholder untuk menjadikan media dan metode yang diterapkan sebagai bahan referensi mengajar di kelas.

Abstract

Pesantren has a very big role in creating a superior and character-building generation in the nation. Since the beginning of the birth of Pesantren, the independence of Pesantren as a religious educational institution has not been in doubt. This study aims to synthesize the results of research on the economic independence of Islamic boarding schools to explore the research findings. So, it was obtaining a formula to realize the independence of Islamic boarding schools. This study is a literature review by using content analysis on a number of articles that have been published in various journals using Mendeley Searches with the keyword “Economic Independence of Islamic Boarding Schools” in the three-year range 2021-2023. These research steps adopt the theory developed by Francis & Baldesari (2006). Data obtained from Mendeley Searches was selected according to the research theme. Next, a content analysis is carried out. The findings of this study show that pesantren has the potential to achieve economic independence. The potential is elected from within the pesantren and outside the pesantren. There are several factors that can be implemented to realize the independence of pesantren, namely internal factors and external factors. This study also found measures that can be applied to realize the economic independence of pesantren in a sustainable manner

Abstract

Pendekatan Game-based learning merupakan praktik pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan unsur permainan yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Akan tetapi, praktik pendekatan ini yang dielaborasi dengan teknologi dapat berdampak besar terhadap peningkatan kemampuan penguasaan kosakata anak. Tujuan pengabdian ini yaitu memberdayakan anak-anak di Sanggar Pusaka agar lebih aktif dalam mempelajari kategori kosakata baru dalam Bahasa Inggris. Metode pengabdian yang digunakan yaitu metode DEI (Dialogis, Ekspositori, Introgatif). Pelaksanaan pengabdian berupa pendampingan belajar pada anak usia 8 sampai 12 tahun, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penguasaan kosakata serta motivasi dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris. Pendampingan ini meliputi empat tahap yakni observasi, perencanaan, pendampingan, evaluasi, dan refleksi. Tim pengabdian juga memfasilitasi keberlanjutan kegiatan ini melalui desain interaktif berupa latihan-latihan kosakata pada aplikasi kahoot yang dapat di akses secara mandiri atau berkelompok. Kata kunci:  Pemberdayaan anak, game-based learning, kosakata.

Abstract

In the digital era marked by rapid advancements in information and communication technology, the transformation of traditional Islamic education, particularly the learning of classical Islamic texts (kitab kuning) in pesantren, has become essential for maintaining relevance and effectiveness. This study examines how pesantren are integrating digital technology into their teaching of kitab kuning and the subsequent impact on the quality of Islamic education. Through an in-depth analysis of various implementations of digital technology in prominent pesantren, this research highlights several innovative learning methods developed, including the use of digital platforms, interactive podcasts, and technology-based evaluation systems. The findings indicate that digital transformation not only enhances accessibility and efficacy of learning but also reinforces the position of pesantren as adaptive Islamic educational institutions in a changing world. In conclusion, the integration of digital technology in the study of kitab kuning represents the ability of pesantren to preserve tradition while embracing modern innovation, thus creating a more comprehensive and sustainable model of Islamic education in the digital age.

Abstract

Cryptocurrency telah menjadi topik hangat dalam ekonomi dan keuangan global. Namun, dari perspektif hukum dan etika Islam, masih belum dipahami secara komprehensif. Dalam situasi ini, tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui lebih dalam pandangan para ulama tentang penggunaan Cryptocurrency yang berfokus pada aspek hukum dan etika dalam ekonomi Islam. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan normatif-komparatif sebagai acuan untuk menganalisis fatwa Ulama tentang cryptocurrency. Fatwa Ulama yang digunakan adalah Fatwa Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI), Fatwa Dar al-Ifta' dan hasil Bahtsul Masail Nahdlatul Ulama (NU). Hasil penelitian mencatat dua poin penting. Pertama, ada perbedaan antara ulama tentang hukum cryptocurrency, Beberapa Ulama memegang cryptocurrency sesuai dengan prinsip syariah dan halal, dan beberapa Ulama berpandangan bahwa cryptocurrency sebagai sesuatu yang berpotensi mengandung ketidakpastian, perjudian dan riba yang dilarang dalam Islam. Kedua, dari perspektif etika bisnis Syariah, cryptocurrency saat ini mengandung lebih banyak kerugian daripada manfaat. Penelitian ini menyajikan panduan melalui pandangan para Ulama secara komprehensif terkait dengan penggunaan cryptocurrency. Penelitian ini berkontribusi untuk meningkatkan pemahaman tentang cryptocurrency sesuai dengan hukum ekonomi Syariah.

Abstract

Writing is one of the most challenging language skills, requiring strong vocabulary, grammar, and organization. However, many students struggle due to limited vocabulary and lack of engaging instruction. This classroom action research aimed to improve students’ narrative writing through the use of interactive comics. Conducted in two cycles at SMKN 1 Pekalongan with 17 eleventh-grade students, the study followed the stages of planning, action, observation, and reflection. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation. In Cycle I, students’ average score increased from 59.12 (pre-test) to 64.62 (post-test), with 37.5% of students reaching the minimum mastery criterion (≥70). In Cycle II, the average score rose to 83.70, with 88.2% of students achieving the target. Observations also showed a significant increase in student participation and engagement. The use of interactive comics not only enhanced vocabulary acquisition in context but also helped students generate ideas and structure their writing more effectively. The findings suggest that comic media is a valuable tool to support vocabulary development and improve students’ writing performance. It also enhanced classroom interaction and teacher performance, making the learning process more dynamic and student-centered.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) systems, including tools like ChatGPT and Gemini. Have become increasingly prevalent in the generation of written academic texts, particularly essays. This research focused on sentence sructure and grammatical consistency in essays generated by artifical intelligence (AI) in academic English. The research used descriptive qualitative method to describe how AI constructed sentences and applied grammatical rules in essays. There are five essays were generated by an AI tool using academic prompts, and each was analyzed based on sentence types (simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex) and grammatical consistency (tense usage, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation). The results were expeced to reveal patterns in syntactic construction, highlight strengths and weaknesses in AI-generaed grammar, and provided insights into the reliability of AI for academic writing tasks. The research contributed to discussed in applying linguistics, language education, and using of AI in academic contexts.

Abstract

Pembelajaran SPI di MTs dituntut membentuk keterampilan abad ke-21, namun implementasi pendekatan OBE belum optimal. Masih terjadi kesenjangan antara kurikulum dan praktik, dengan dominasi metode tradisional dan minimnya suara siswa. Diperlukan evaluasi kritis agar OBE benar-benar responsif terhadap kebutuhan siswa dan zaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi penerapan pendekatan Outcome-Based Education (OBE) dalam pembelajaran Sejarah Peradaban Islam di tingkat Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) Darul A’mal serta dampaknya terhadap ketercapaian kompetensi siswa, khususnya dalam pengembangan berpikir kritis. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara mendalam terhadap enam informan (empat siswa dengan karakteristik berbeda, satu guru SPI, dan satu wakil kepala sekolah bidang kurikulum), observasi kelas, serta dokumentasi perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa implementasi OBE telah mengarah pada tujuan pembelajaran yang lebih terukur dan berbasis hasil, namun belum sepenuhnya disampaikan dan diinternalisasi oleh semua siswa. Ketimpangan dalam pengalaman belajar dan model penilaian menjadi tantangan utama dalam pelaksanaan kurikulum OBE. Penelitian ini merekomendasikan penguatan komunikasi tujuan pembelajaran, peningkatan aktivitas belajar berbasis masalah, serta pengembangan asesmen otentik yang adaptif. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan strategi pembelajaran SPI yang responsif terhadap kebutuhan zaman dan karakteristik siswa.

Abstract

The management of household waste into granular fertilizer has great potential to support sustainable agriculture while enhancing community environmental literacy. This community service program was conducted in Giriklopomulyo Village, Sekampung District, East Lampung, through a participatory training approach and hands-on practice involving community leaders and two invited experts. Students were also engaged in the waste processing sessions and the preparation of procedural texts based on field experiences. The evaluation results indicated significant improvements in participants’ knowledge, technical skills, ecological awareness, and functional literacy. In addition, participants’ vocabulary mastery related to environmental and agricultural terms increased by 35% as shown in the pre-test and post-test results. The hands-on method proved effective in encouraging active involvement of both the community and students in addressing waste management issues. This program demonstrates that collaboration between universities and rural communities can create locally based, applicable solutions. These findings are essential as a foundation for developing similar programs in other regions with high organic waste potential.
