Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Range of Motion (ROM) exercises in reducing pain and improving social function in patients with knee osteoarthritis, and to identify factors that influence the success of ROM program implementation. The study used a qualitative approach with a systematic literature study method. Data were collected through searches in the electronic databases PubMed, Scopus, and CINAHL with the inclusion criteria of primary research articles in 2019-2024. Data analysis was carried out thematically using NVIVO software and quality assessment using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. An effective ROM program includes a duration of 30-45 minutes per session with a frequency of 3-4 times per week, showing a significant decrease in pain after 4-6 weeks of implementation. Improved social function is seen through active participation in community activities and better social interactions. Key success factors include program personalization, early professional supervision, and family support. Understanding of the effectiveness of ROM is reinforced by nursing and sociological theories that emphasize the importance of a holistic approach in the management of knee osteoarthritis.

Abstract

One of the causes of stunting is the nutritional deficiency of pregnant women. To prevent stunting, pregnant women must be educated about nutrition through prenatal classes. The purpose of this research is to determine the effectiveness of Islamic-based prenatal classes in improving pregnant women's perceptions of stunting prevention. This research is a quasi-experimental study on pregnant women in the Meuraxa District of Banda Aceh. Power analysis is used to determine the sample size, resulting in 64 pregnant women in the intervention group and 64 pregnant women in the control group. The intervention consists of an Islamic-based prenatal class conducted in five sessions, each lasting sixty minutes. The data collection instrument to understand pregnant women's perceptions of stunting prevention was developed by the researcher based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) theory. Data collection was conducted twice, namely before the intervention (pre-test) and after the intervention. (post test). Data analysis used descriptive statistics, namely frequency distribution and non-parametric statistics, namely the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and the Mann Whitney U Test to assess the difference in mean scores between the intervention group and the control group. The research results indicated that there are differences in perceptions of pregnant women between the intervention group and the control group regarding the prevention of stunting in children, namely perceptions of vulnerability (P-value = 0.048), perceptions of severity (P-value = 0.015), perceptions of benefits (P-value = 0.048), and perceptions of barriers (P-value = 0.002). Based on the results, the Islamic-based prenatal class program for pregnant women has proven effective in enhancing the perception of pregnant women in preventing stunting in their unborn children as early as possible.

Abstract

Background: Difficulty in establishing social relationships is a significant issue that can negatively impact the psychological well-being of nursing students. Often feeling isolated, withdrawing from the social environment, and experiencing decreased academic motivation are difficulties that usually arise in students. Various factors contribute to this condition, including pressure to be accepted in certain social groups, such as trying to adjust appearance or behavior to be accepted by the environment, which actually triggers stress and identity crises. Understanding the background and causal factors to the differences in the level of social difficulties in nursing students is very important in efforts to improve psychological well-being and support the academic success of nursing students. Purpose: To determine the differences in social relationship difficulties in students at different levels of the diploma program in nursing. Methods: The study used an analytical survey design with a comparative approach. The research sample consisted of 642 respondents from students of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh and was obtained through a total sampling technique. The instrument used to measure the level of difficulty in social relationships was The Revised Cheek and Buss Shyness Scale (RCBS), which has been proven valid and reliable in measuring the level of individual personality. Data analysis was carried out using the Kruskal-Wallis test to compare differences in the level of difficulty in social relationships based on the group of variables studied. Results: Based on the results of statistical tests using the Kruskall Wallis test, it shows that the p-value is 0.01 (<0.05), which indicates that there is a significant difference in the average difficulty of social relationships in students between levels of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in the level of difficulty of social relations between students based on the level of the diploma program in nursing at Poltekkes Kemenkes Aceh, which shows that the level of education is related to students' social adaptation abilities.
