Abstract

This article describes the life and beliefs of Malek Bennabi, a figure who contributed and had a significant impact on Muslim society. Through his writings and ideas, Bennabi has left a legacy that inspires and motivates him to create a better future for the Muslim world. In addition, this research aims to provide a systematic literature review based on selected journals that specifically highlight Malek Bennabi's work with contemporary scholars to strengthen his intellectual legacy. The results of the systematic literature are: Bennabi's ideas about the challenges faced by Muslims, such as political or social marginalization and economic recession, can still be applied to current conditions, such as increasing corruption, Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things, mainly social media disruption of the principles of Muslim life. Moreover, while technology and progress often seem to come at the expense of traditional values, Bennabi's emphasis on the importance of creativity and the Islamic faith is particularly compelling. Finally, the findings of this study contribute to understanding the methodology, intellectual achievements, and their possible applications in post-modern society.

Abstract

As an industry practitioner, this research strives to explore and engage in intellectual discourse on the current theoretical paradigm practice of sustainable marketing efficiency strategy design for tourism, hospitality establishments, and event staging from the viewpoints of Destination management organisations (DMOs). Critically, this industry-academic writing is committed to contributing to a better interpretation and, possibly, an assessment of the current marketing principle application by highlighting a potential gap between theory (academic) and practice (industry), accompanied by recommendations on holistic marketing, thereby bridging between conventional and sustainable marketing. A systematic qualitative review using explorative content analysis combined with PESTLE feasibility studies of the destination. Approximately 60 journals, book chapters, and relevant newspaper topics, including pertinent literatures, were screened for analysis. The PESTLE approach to DMOs marketing covers direction, product, service, positioning, branding, and niche segmentation. It also explores Muslim-friendly marketing ideas and their role in compelling destination and event hospitality management. The findings provide analytical perspectives of future hallmarks events for developing countries. Furthermore, it presents a distinct and explicit sustainable marketing policy for event marketers, event organisers, DMOs, and relevant bodies to embed sustainable marketing strategy execution in the event hospitality segment. Additionally, it includes an illustration of a sustainable framework for the future Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon (MKIC) event, recommended to the respective DMOs and event organisers. Keywords: Sustainable Marketing Plan; Marketing Design; Destination Management Organisations DMOs; Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon Event (MKIC); PESTLE analysis.

Abstract

In today’s rapidly changing world, postmodern civilization has been accused of undermining traditional, religious universal values and socio-economic inequality. The intersection of Islamic philosophy and secular education creates profound tension, as Islamic teachings on justice, equality and religious principles often clash with Western secular values, leading to issues such as incompetent graduates, LGBTQ disorder, and over- capitalism conflicts. Schools and universities also grapple with significant challenges like zero hands-on skills, large class sizes, lack of resources, and student behavioral ongoing issues, which impede effective teaching and learning. Additionally, non-inclusive students, especially those with disabilities or from minority ethnic backgrounds, face bullying, discrimination and difficulty accessing resources, exacerbating their isolation and hindering academic performance. This study utilized a qualitative research methodology grounded in the researchers’ nearly twenty years of teaching experience at private universities across Malaysia, including at UNITAR Malaysia, Limkokwing University of Creative Technology (LUCT), the Management and Science University (MSU), and Tunku Abdul Rahman University College (TARUC). The research was informed by direct classroom engagement, a mentoring program, and involvement in academic events administration, offering deep insights into student challenges and enriching data collection. The methodology included providing motivational support and counseling to students with special needs and those underperforming. A critical, reflexive approach was adopted to address potential biases, and results were verified through member-checking and triangulation. This comprehensive approach enabled a thorough exploration of the Malaysian educational context, identifying challenges and themes, yet providing a robust framework for understanding student experiences and pedagogical strategies. The study is structured into four sections: methodology, challenges in Malaysia’s educational system, the incorporation of Qur’anic metaphysics in tertiary education, and the application of interactive AI-pedagogy technologies. The study revealed practical recommendations for educators, policy makers, and researchers, aiming to bridge the gap between Islamic principles and secular educational practices. Using Malaysia as a case study, the research explores the potential of a holistic approach to Islamic education in addressing the postmodern and post-pandemic challenges by Muslim society. It is worth noting that the study is specifically focused on Muslim education in Malaysia. Therefore, its findings may not be generalizable to other Muslim countries or societies. Nevertheless, the research is expected to provide a profound perspective on addressing postmodernism challenges in the Muslim pedagogical world.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the practice of adoptive siblings acting as marriage guardians for adopted children in Akeguraci Village from the perspective of fiqh munakahat. A marriage guardian (wali) is one of the essential pillars of marriage; without a guardian, a marriage is deemed invalid, especially for individuals who have not yet reached the age of accountability (mukallaf). There are two types of marriage guardians: guardians by lineage (wali nasab) and judicial guardians (wali hakim). In Akeguraci Village, there is a case where the marriage guardian did not fulfill the essential requirements for guardianship. The guardian in this marriage was the biological son of the adoptive father. The mistake in the guardianship of the adopted child's marriage, performed by the adoptive sibling, occurred because the biological father refused to act as the guardian. This qualitative research collects field data through observation and interviews to uncover the practice of adoptive siblings acting as marriage guardians in Akeguraci Village. The findings reveal two main points: first, the practice of having the biological son of the adoptive father serve as the marriage guardian occurred because the biological father was unwilling to officiate the marriage, citing the child’s adoption at a young age as the reason. Second, from the perspective of fiqh munakahat, the marriage of an adopted child officiated by an adoptive sibling is invalid, as there is no lineage (nasab) relationship between the adopted child and the adoptive sibling.Al-Jaziri, A.
