Abstract

This study was aimed to describe the factors of varieties of Alas, Gayo, and Karo dialects in Southeast Aceh province. The focus was on the verb usage in those three dialects. This study was designed qualitatively. The collected data was from the individual interviewee who is the speaker of Gayo, Alas, and Karo. The data consisted of the phonemes/accents and vocabularies from thosethree languages. On the basis of the research findings, the varieties of Alas and Gayo dialect cause by the distance and geographical factor. Whereas the influenced factor that make Alas and Karo dialects are varied is the historical factor where these two languages had been mixed since hundred years ago. Also, the close relationship in those three dialects becomes the factor that triggers the varieties of dialects. In conclusion, the factor of dialect varieties of Alas, Gayo, and Karo are caused by some factors, namely geographical factor, historical factor, and the close relationship among the languages.

Abstract

The aims of this research are to know: 1) the application of field trip method in teaching writing descriptive text 2) the students’ writing descriptive text effect before and after using field trip method 3) Whether there is a significant effect of field trip method on students’ writing descriptive text effect at the eleven grade of SMA Negeri 1 Kutacane. This research uses experimental method with the pre-experimental design by using one-group pretest and posttest design. The population of this research is all of the eleven grade students’ of SMA Negeri 1 Kutacane which consist of 212 students. Sample are XI IPA core 2 which consist of 34 students which taken by purposive sampling. In collecting the data the researchers uses observation sheet and test as an instrument. The results of this research are: 1) the effect of field trip method is 3.8, it is categorized “very good” 2) the mean score of students writing descriptive text effect is 55 it is categorized “fail”. Meanwhile, after using field trip method is 76,91 it is categorized “good”. 3) There is a significant effect of using field trip method on students’ writing descriptive text effect at the eleven grade of SMA Negeri 1 Kutacane. The result of data analysis shows that ttest is higher than ttable (ttest25.18 > ttable2.52). So, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that, there is a significant effect of field trip method on students’ writing descriptive text effect at the eleven grade of SMA Negeri 1 Kutacane in 2022/2023 Academic Year.

Abstract

Most of the schools in indonesia focus on teaching translation and grammar without providing a lot of chances for students to practice their pronunciation skill in the classroom activities. The teachers just translate what they read on the book. The purpose of this research is to see Whether ELSA Speak Application can improve students' pronunciation ability or not. This research applies the experiment design. And The design that is used in this study is one group pre-test and post-test design to masured students’ pronunciation ability. Population of this research in XI Akuntansi 1 is 324 Students and took sample as much 36 students. This research also uses quantitative method to analyse the data. The data of pre- test and post-test of this research showed any improvement and calculated by using t-test, it was founded that tobservation = 15,41 and ttable of level α 5% with df n – 1 (36 – 1 = 35) = 2,030. That means the hyphotesis of this research is received because tobservation higher than ttable 15,41 > 2,030. Based on the findings, researcher found that ELSA Speak Application can improve students’ pronunciation ability at SMK Negeri 1 Kutacane especially XI Akuntansi 1 Class. This ELSA Speaking Application showed improvement for the students’ pronunciation ability was measured by the score of the pre-test and post-test. And it was proven by because tobservation is higher than t -table..

Abstract

This study deals with the effect of using student team achievement division learning method on students’ ability in simple present tense on the XI IPA class of SMA Negeri 2 Lawe Bulan in the academic year 2022/2023. Its objective is to find out whether the use student team achievement division learning method has a significance effect in simple present tense. Population used in this study of class X, XI, and XII were 89 students and samples used in this study of class XI were 21 students. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a one group as pretest and posttest design. This study was carried on using quantitative method. The data was analysed by using t-test. The data was analysed by using t-test. The researcher found the pre-test mean = 55,23, deviation standard = 3,92 and experienced an increase in the post-test mean = 80,95 deviation standard = 3,65. From this analysis, writer found that student team achievement division learning method has significance in teaching simple present tense. It can be proved by the result of the analysis showed that “ ” observed about 49,44 was higher than “ttable” about 1,725 with the level significance is 0,05% it implies that the teacher of english should use Student Team achievement division learning method in teaching simple present tense so that the teaching and learning process can be successful.

Abstract

Speaking skills are the most important part of learning a foreign or second language. In addition, the success of language learning is measured by the demonstrated ability to converse in the target language. Skills speaking is an interactive process of constructing meaning which includes generating, receive, process and use both verbal and non-verbal components. The weaknesses of the students of SMK PP Negeri Kutacane in learning English so far, especially in speaking English skills are very weak and of course this weakness is caused by something complex, without ignoring various factors, the author feels the need to conduct research with the title above so that it can be known whether students' interest in learning increase or not when using the experiential method. The population sampled was class XI SMK PP Negeri Kutacane. In this study, the researchers used an Experiential Learning method to determine the significant effect of the application of the experiential learning method on students' speaking skills, stating that quantitative research uses numbers, starting from data collection, interpretation of data, and the appearance of data results. Based on the calculation above, the research found that t stat > t critical, or 13,74 > 1,69 so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Therefore, there is an effect of using the experiential learning method on the speaking skills of class XI students of the SMK PP Negeri Kutacane Aceh Tenggara academic year 2022/2023. The conclusions obtained from the results of this study are as follows: there is an effect of using the experiential learning method on the speaking skills of class XI students of SMK PP Negeri Kutacane Aceh Tenggara academic year 2022/2023.

Abstract

A Thesis English Education Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, stkip us Kutacane.The aim of the research was to find out the effect of song media in pronounciation skill. This research was done on 10th July until 10th August 2023. The population of this research are 191 students from all VIII Class. The sample was taken purposive sampling which is only choose one class.The sample are the students of VIII A Class which consist of 32 students. The research gave two tests, they are pre test and post test. The data was collected by using Rubric of Pronunciation which focus on Consonant, Vowels, Intonation, Rhythm and Stress.The data was analyzed by using t-test. The minimus completeness criteria in learning English for National Senior High School at SMP Negeri 1 Badar is 70. It was found that the pre test average is 45,75 and the post test average is 75,62. The data had been calculated by using t-test, the researcher found that t observation = 30,18 by seeing the t table with df n-1 of level α = 5%, it was found that t table = 1,696. It means the t observation is bigger than t-table = 30,18 > 1,696. So the rearcher took the conclusion that the hypothesis alternative in this research is received. There is a significant progress of students’ ablitiy in learning pronunciation by using Song as media on VIII A Class at SMP Negeri 1 Badar in the Academic Years 2023/2024.

Abstract

A Thesis English Education Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, stkip us Kutacane.The aim of the research was to find out the effect of news video on students’ speaking skill. Language is crucial for communication, and English is an international language. Researcher aim to improve basic English skills by addressing issues in schools like inadequate speaking practice, unmotivated students, and ineffective media. This research uses quantitative techniques for methodical and factual data collection.Ma'ruf Abdullah (2015:124) quantitative research is research that uses quantitative data, namely data in the form of numeric or numbers. The research found that class X IPA 2 students at SMA Negeri 1 Lawe Bulan, their speaking skills were not improved before using video as a medium. So, the researcher applied video as a media in students’ speaking skill. The result research, researcher found the average pre-test score to 56.17, and post-test scores improved to 82.78.Pre-test and post-test data showed a 21.33% difference, indicating a high hypothesis, with a df value of 2,074. There is any improvements by using video as a media in students speaking skill at SMA Negeri 1 Lawe Bulan especially X IPA 2.The researcher may conclude that the results of the study show that the application of video in the student’s speaking ability has an influence in improving the student's speech abilities. it has been proven from the research data results thus the hypothesis is accepted..

Abstract

A Thesis English Education Department the Faculty of Teachers Training and Education, stkip us Kutacane.The aim of the research was to find out whether the use romance novel media has a significance effect in reading abilities. Population used in this study of class XI were 128 and samples used in this study were 23 students. The method used in this study is an experimental method with a one group as test design .This study was carried on using quantitate method. The data was analysed by using t-test. The researcher found the test mean = 79,35 , deviation standard = 3,70 deviation error = 0,79. From this analysis, researcher found that guided romance novel media has significance in teaching reading. with the mode obtained being a value of 80 which was the most obtained by 10 students in class XI IPS 2. Based on the data from the test results on the ability to increase reading and if it is related to the KKM score for English subjects for senior high school = 75. So the reading romance novel media on students reading ability is included in the good category. Thus, from the results of the hypothesis testing above, it can be concluded that there is the The Effect of Reading Romance Novel Media on Students Reading Ability of Class XI IPS at SMA Negeri 3 Kutacane in The Academic Year 2023/2024.
