Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the integration of Islamic educational leadership with the concept of holistic education as a response to the challenges of 21st-century education. Employing a qualitative approach through library research and thematic analysis based on Braun and Clarke’s model, the study focuses on three key areas: first, spirituality as the foundation of Islamic leadership, grounded in values such as amanah, khalifah, ikhlas, tawakal, and muraqabah; second, the identification of integrative principles—tawazun, tawhid, rahmah, adl, and ihsan—which align with holistic education principles; and third, the formulation of a transformational-spiritual leadership model built on four pillars: spiritual, intellectual, emotional, and social, along with its implementation strategies through curriculum transformation, leadership capacity development, and organizational culture building. The findings demonstrate that integrating Islamic values with holistic educational principles not only enriches leadership theory but also offers a practical framework applicable to contemporary Islamic educational institutions in a contextual and sustainable manner.

Abstract

This study addresses the need for Islamic Educational Management learning to move beyond conceptual mastery toward action competence through authentic experience. John Dewey’s pragmatism is employed because it positions experience and inquiry at the core of learning, and assesses educational experience through the principles of continuity and interaction. The objectives are to: (1) map Deweyan principles as a foundation for learning by doing in Islamic Educational Management; (2) operationalize the teacher/lecturer role as a facilitator; and (3) formulate a case/project-based learning model along with evaluative indicators. The method is qualitative library research using conceptual-philosophical analysis of Dewey’s primary works and supporting literature on experiential learning and facilitation. The findings indicate that learning becomes more effective when designed as a sequenced set of educational experiences, supported by guided reflection and evaluated using Dewey’s continuity–interaction criteria, preventing projects from becoming “mis-educative” activities

Abstract

Malaysia is a prominent destination for Indonesian migrant workers in Southeast Asia. Despite their economic importance, migrant workers are susceptible to chronic diseases, particularly hypertension and diabetes, due to constrained access to healthcare, unhealthy behaviors, and demanding working environments. The objective of this community service initiative included the assessment of the health status of Indonesian migrant workers and the promotion of awareness through screening and educational activities. This community service program was conducted in May 2024 at Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the NGO Sharing Organization and the Indonesian Embassy. A total of 113 migrant workers participated in the event. Screening included blood pressure measurement, random blood sugar testing, eye, and reproductive health examinations. Doctoral medical students delivered a mini seminar on chronic disease prevention and management. The majority of participants were women (57%) and within the productive age group (25-55 years). Hypertension was highly prevalent (54%). The mean random blood sugar was 138 ±62.5 mg/dL). Domestic work was the most common occupation. The participants demonstrated a strong interest in health education, and feedback indicated that regular health programs would be welcomed. Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia show a high burden of hypertension and diabetes but limited disease awareness. Routine health screening, culturally appropriate education, and stronger collaboration between employers, health providers, and the Indonesian Embassy are essential to improve chronic disease prevention and sustain worker productivity.
