Abstract

Abstract

Purpose: This research aims to determine the effect of providing basic life support training on increasing knowledge and skills among police personnel in the East Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade Unit. Research Design and Methodology: The research method employed is a quantitative experimental design with a quasi-experimental approach, which allows for some flexibility in randomization while also controlling validity threats. The design used in this study is a non-equivalent control group design, which involves a comparison group (control) (Notoatmodjo, 2010). Findings and Discussion: Basic Life Support (BLS) training improves police knowledge and skills. This quasi-experimental study, conducted among 546 Brimob officers, demonstrated significant gains in the intervention group following training. Knowledge and skill scores rose significantly, demonstrating the effectiveness of training. Brimob members are encouraged to apply BLS and share their experience with fellow officers. Implications: It is hoped that the East Kalimantan Regional Police Mobile Brigade work unit environment can provide BLS education in stages to all member personnel and conduct personal tests to assess the skills they have acquired.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a complex social problem with broad impacts on reproductive health, education, and social welfare. In Gowa Regency, early marriage is prevalent among adolescent girls and has resulted in increased risks of pregnancy and childbirth complications, limited access to healthcare services, and reduced economic opportunities. Psychologically, adolescents who marry early are also more vulnerable to stress, depression, and restricted personal development. This community service activity was carried out in Borongloe Subdistrict for one day and involved 100 adolescents aged 15—18 years. The activities consisted of educational sessions, peer group discussions, and role-play. The educational sessions covered topics on the risks and impacts of early marriage, strategies to cope with cultural pressures within families, and the importance of maintaining adolescent reproductive health. The discussion sessions provided a space for participants to share their personal experiences related to early marriage, followed by role-play activities simulating cases of early marriage that occurred in their surroundings. The results showed a significant increase in adolescents’ knowledge and awareness regarding the risks and impacts of early marriage and the importance of maintaining reproductive health. Based on the pre-test results, 60% of participants had a low level of knowledge, while the post-test results indicated improvement, with 100% of participants demonstrating better understanding. This community service program proved to be effective in increasing adolescents’ understanding and awareness of the dangers of early marriage. It also served as a preventive effort to empower adolescents to make better decisions regarding their future and reproductive health.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of public service collaboration in the fields of health and civil administration. The study focuses on a case involving children born at the La Mappapenning Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Bone Regency, South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. The collaboration between the RSUD and the Civil Registration Office (Dukcapil) of Bone Regency is designed to facilitate the direct issuance of civil documents (Birth Certificates, Family Cards, and Child Identity Cards) at the hospital, eliminating the need for a separate visit to the Dukcapil office. This study employs a descriptive qualitative approach using Huxham's theory of Collaborative Advantage, which includes four dimensions: managing goals, managing trust, managing culture, and managing leadership. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation with fifteen informants. The results indicate that while the collaboration is effective due to the convenience and efficiency it provides, its implementation still faces challenges. Those challenges are differences in goals, an imbalance of roles, limitations of integrated information systems, and a lack of clarity in the leadership structure for decision-making. By adaptively managing the dynamics of trust, organizational culture, and the active participation of leaders from both institutions, this collaboration has the potential to become an innovative model for inclusive and effective public service. This research contributes theoretically to the practice of collaborative governance and offers practical recommendations for optimizing cross-sector partnerships in hospital-based public services.
