Abstract

Abstract

This study explores the impact and ideology of Wahhabism within Islamic puritanism, focusing on its historical development and contemporary implications. It aims to analyze Wahhabi thought's origins, principles, and influence on Islamic revival movements and interpretations of rituals and values. Adopting a qualitative approach, data is drawn from primary sources like the Qur'an, Hadith literature, and secondary sources such as academic articles and books. Wahhabism, led by Muhammad ibn 'Abd al-Wahhab, emerged in the 18th century to purify Islam, rejecting intellectualism, mysticism, and cultural diversity, advocating for a literal interpretation of texts. This ideology has influenced modern Islamic movements and contributed to religious violence, impacting the interpretation of Islamic principles amidst contemporary dynamics. In conclusion, this research underscores Wahhabism's lasting influence on Islamic thought, shaping debates on orthodoxy, cultural identity, and political ideology within the Muslim world, contributing to a deeper understanding of Islamic puritanism's complexities and its global implications.

Using a descriptive qualitative approach, this research relies on a literature review to collect secondary data related to the use of media in preaching. The findings indicate that social media platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have opened significant opportunities for preaching to reach a global audience effectively and creatively. However, the study also identifies challenges related to message distortion, lack of content credibility, and the dissemination of inaccurate information. This research proposes strategic guidelines to maximize the potential of social media in spreading Islamic values while mitigating possible risks. In conclusion, social media holds great potential for preaching, but it requires a cautious and responsible approach to ensure that religious messages remain accurate and beneficial. Abstract

This article explores the dialogue between the philosophy of religion and science, focusing on the dialectics of faith and reason while questioning whether the two are inherently opposed or can be harmonized within a broader framework. Through a qualitative approach grounded in literature review, the study identifies historical harmony and contemporary challenges in integrating faith and reason, highlighting how religious philosophy—from Ancient Greece to Islamic thought—demonstrates their potential complementarity in understanding broader truths. In the modern era, this relationship gains heightened relevance in addressing ethical dilemmas posed by technological and scientific advancements, where religion serves as a moral compass to maintain balance. By incorporating the sociological perspective of religion, the article also examines how religion shapes social structures, norms, and policies, ultimately offering strategic insights into fostering interdisciplinary dialogue that unites intellectual, spiritual, and social traditions in contemporary society. Contribution: This article contributes to the philosophy of religion-science discourse by reframing faith and reason as complementary forces rather than antagonistic opposites. It synthesizes historical, ethical, and sociological perspectives to propose interdisciplinary dialogue as a pathway to addressing modern challenges.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze how religion is utilized as a source of legitimacy for power and its impact on the distribution of welfare. Religion serves as both a moral and political instrument that can either enhance or hinder social justice. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive-analytical method and a literature review to examine relevant theories and empirical cases. The findings reveal that religion plays a dual role in governance and welfare policies. On one hand, it is employed by political authorities to legitimize power, shaping policies that reinforce social structures. On the other hand, religious organizations actively contribute to welfare distribution through philanthropy and social services. However, the allocation of welfare resources based on religious identity often leads to exclusivity, deepening socio-economic disparities. The study concludes that while religion holds transformative potential in promoting social justice, its role in governance must be managed inclusively to prevent reinforcing inequalities. Therefore, a collaborative approach between the state, religious institutions, and civil society is necessary to ensure that religion’s role in legitimizing power contributes positively to equitable welfare distribution. Contribution: By advocating for collaborative efforts among the state, religious institutions, and civil society, this research provides a valuable framework for promoting equitable welfare distribution and mitigating socio-economic disparities linked to religious identity.

Abstract

Tafsir, in its dynamics, does not only function as a medium for studying Allah's verses. There has been a shift in the function of interpretation to become a field for cultivating the interests of individuals, groups and even state governments. This shift in function occurs because tafsir has experienced a development in meaning; previously, tafsir had to be written by someone who met the requirements of a mufassir, but this was not strictly adhered to by tafsir writers from Indonesia. Through this article, various interests in various Indonesian interpretations are discussed, starting from the strengthening of ideology, politics by the government, highlighting communities, even interpretations being used as a means to criticize government policies, and so on. There are various forms of tafsir studied, ranging from the Al-Qur'an Encyclopedia, local language tafsir, to government-published translations of the Qur'an. Thus, interpretations that emerge from the Indonesian context are not only viewed as normative interpretations, but also as interpretations of interests or ideological interpretations.

Abstract

This study was prompted by the low learning achievement in Fiqh among students at Madrasah Aliyah, as indicated by preliminary data showing that only about 70% of students in several grade X classes reached the minimum mastery criteria (KKM), set at a score of 75. To address this issue, the study aims to analyze needs, design, develop, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of an Android-based Project-Based Learning (PJBL) application called MaBar FIQIH in improving Fiqh learning outcomes for grade X students at MAN 2 Bandung and MAS Baitus Shofaa Ciheulang Bandung. The research used a Convergent Parallel Mixed Method approach and the Research and Development (R&D) method, applying the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The subjects included media and content experts, as well as 355 students from MAN 2 Bandung and 150 students from MAS Baitus Shofaa. Implementation results showed that the application had a significant effect on students’ learning achievements. There was a significant difference in students’ learning achievements after the use of the MaBar FIQIH application. The findings suggest that this PJBL-based application is effective and feasible for use by teachers and students in enhancing Fiqh learning outcomes.
