Abstract

This research delves into the psychology of the Aceh community in receiving Rohingya refugees, with a particular emphasis on the influence of local identity. It critically analyzes mass media to identify reporting patterns and perspectives on Rohingya refugees. Data were gathered through news analysis and in-depth interviews to gain insights into the community's perceptions, attitudes, and local identity. The findings reveal that the Acehnese community's perceptions, attitudes, and emotional responses towards Rohingya refugees are shaped by a strong local identity, historical conflict experiences, and concerns about resource competition and religious identity. Acehnese cultural and religious identity promotes internal solidarity but also fosters exclusivity towards 'foreign' groups. Previous ethnic conflicts exacerbate tensions and distrust towards refugees. The use of religious symbols by refugees further heightens social and psychological tensions. However, the humanitarian principles in Islamic law, which emphasize fair treatment and assistance to those in need, play a pivotal role. This study adopts a multidimensional approach, integrating psychology, sociology, and education to address identity conflicts, foster harmonious interactions between the Acehnese community and Rohingya refugees, and strengthen intergroup relations by considering aspects of identity and humanity.

Abstract

Research to explore the implications of the ḥalaqah mentoring method in Islamic Religious Education, particularly in shaping the character of Madrasah students. Ḥalaqah is considered a holistic approach, encompassing spiritual and emotional intelligence aspects, to strengthen faith foundations and shape Islamic character. This qualitative research focuses on descriptive qualitative research aimed at describing phenomena or events naturally occurring in the research location, specifically at Madrasah Aliyah in the Aceh region. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews with ḥalaqah mentors and students, as well as the analysis of documents related to ḥalaqah activities and student achievements. Data processing is carried out using analytical techniques that include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The research findings indicate that ḥalaqah, as an effective mentoring method, shapes the character of Madrasah students. Diverse ḥalaqah materials involving spiritual and emotional intelligence aspects have a significant positive impact. The role of ḥalaqah mentors and the empowerment of ROHIS as co-mentors are key to success in creating a supportive learning environment. Based on the research findings, strengthening the ḥalaqah program with an emphasis on emotional intelligence integration can be an effective step in reinforcing character formation. Furthermore, it is recommended to involve more stakeholders, including parents and madrasah committees, to support the comprehensive implementation of ḥalaqah.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the integration of Islamic education and vocational education in the context of the era of globalization and the Industrial Revolution 4.0. The research focuses on exploring the urgency, curriculum approach, challenges, and impact of integration on graduates, as well as providing recommendations for holistic and sustainable education policy development. This research uses a library research method with a qualitative approach. Data were collected from various literature sources, such as relevant journals, books, and scientific articles, and then analysed thematically to identify patterns, challenges, and opportunities in the integration of Islamic and vocational education. Research results include: 1) Urgency of Integration: The integration of Islamic and vocational education is becoming increasingly relevant in the era of the industrial revolution 4.0, where the world of work requires human resources who are not only technically skilled but also have strong work ethics and morality. 2) Curriculum Approach: An integrated curriculum that combines technical skills with Islamic values, such as Islamic business ethics and sharia entrepreneurship, is the key to successful integration. 3) Challenges: This integration faces challenges such as differences in curriculum orientation, limited resources, community perceptions, and unsupportive education policies. 4) Impact on Graduates: Integration produces graduates who are balanced between technical competence and spiritual values, have global competitiveness, and contribute positively to society through work ethics and entrepreneurship based on Islam. The findings of this study have important implications for educational policy development, especially in designing an integrated curriculum, providing adequate facilities, and training competent teaching staff. In addition, intensive socialization is needed to change people's perceptions and show concrete evidence of the success of integration.

Abstract

The development of Integrated Islamic Primary Schools is in response to the society’s increasing demand for quality graduates. Thus, the emphasis on the effectiveness of learning in Integrated Islamic Primary Schools (IIPS) necessitates institutional innovation and teacher professionalism. This research investigates the professionalism in IIPS and determines the factors that contribute to teachers' professional practices. The study is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. This study employed the “Tarbiyah learning framework” developed by Abdurahman Al-Nahlawi, and the data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations to investigate the dimensions of teacher professionalism, teaching methodologies, and factors affecting teacher professionalism. The findings reveal that there is a mismatch between professional development initiatives and the actual conditions faced by students. Teaching-learning process that is responsive to students needs and characteristics, collaborative learning programs and supervision sctivities are all viable strategies. Teacher professionalism can be identified by demonstrating strong commitment and work discipline. The IIPS also provides structured training programs and collaborative partnerships with the education office to improve relevant teaching competencies and methodologies. Further, the social implications of this research include the availability of high-quality educational options for the community at the primary school level. Furthermore, the varied management system of IIPS serves as a social control to ensure the quality of primary education continues to develop.

Abstract

This study discusses the urgency and strategy of integrating Islamic values in mathematics learning as part of the revitalization of the Islamic value-based curriculum. The main goal of this approach is to create an education that not only emphasizes the cognitive aspect, but also shapes the character and spirituality of students as a whole. Through the library research method, this study examines various scientific literature, books, and the latest research results related to the integration of Islamic values in mathematics education. The results of the study show that this integration can be carried out through thematic approaches, contextual, inquiry-based religious learning, and the use of technology such as interactive media and Islamic learning applications. The study also highlights the importance of the role of teachers, the need for contextual teaching tools, and the development of an integrative evaluation system that includes cognitive, affective, and spiritual aspects. Nevertheless, implementation in the field still faces challenges such as limited teacher training and lack of applicable assessment guidelines. The revitalization of the Islamic value-based curriculum is expected to be a strategic solution in forming a generation that is academically superior and has noble character.

Abstract

This research aims to understand the role of religion as a trigger to the conflict while acting as a social integration to seek a viable, inclusive solution. The research method employed in this study is qualitative, with phenomenology of religion as the approach. The data is collected through observation, interviews, and online media to be classified and analyzed as the discussion and findings. The research found that religious identity creates a discriminatory basis, while religious sentiment worsens the situation, especially when some religious extremists are involved in the conflict. The critical factors in the crisis are the geopolitics of religion, identity formation, communal solidarity, and the global view of the crisis. The Acehnese people saw the refugee crisis as a problem of security and regional stability, human rights, Muslim solidarity, and a geopolitical concern. The involvement of international actors and mass media also contributed to the acceptance issue. This research contributes to understanding the conflict dynamics, Acehnese’s acceptance of the refugees, and its relevance to Southeast Asia politics. The study can also be a reference for more inclusive policy-making in Aceh and Indonesia concerning similar cases.

Abstract

This research aims to identify gaps in existing research to improve the quality of teacher performance in the future. To achieve this objective, the study poses two research questions. Firstly, the research aims to analyze the influence of leadership in Islamic boarding schools (madrasah) and the working environment on teacher performance, both separately and collectively. Secondly, the research aims to identify and analyze variables that have a dominant influence in this context. These questions will be directed to respondents who have knowledge or understanding relevant to the research theme, which includes the leadership of madrasah principals, the working environment, and teacher performance. Based on the foregoing description, the preliminary results of this research indicate that leadership in the madrasah and the working environment significantly influence teacher performance. In other words, the more effective the leadership in the madrasah and the supportive working environment, the higher the level of teacher performance that can be achieved. Additionally, the research suggests that the role of madrasah leadership has a more dominant influence on teacher performance compared to other factors considered in this study. This research is a quantitative study with a survey approach. The data used are primary data obtained directly from 86 respondents through questionnaires. The findings of this study confirm that both madrasah leadership and the working environment have a simultaneous and partial influence, with madrasah leadership being the more dominant factor affecting teacher performance.
