Abstract

Abstract. Employee engagement towards an organization is one of the most important aspects to look after. It is one of the many factors that contributes to the overall performance of an organization considering how almost everything inside an organization is run by human resource (which includes part time faculty members). This research aims to define part-time and full-time faculty members’ job satisfaction level and condition, thereafter employee engagement. This paper is limited to only comparing and evaluating the satisfaction level of full-time and part-time faculty members of the School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung, and focusing the analysis primarily towards factors that truly contribute to Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire’s job satisfaction and Gallup Q12, which will later determine overall employee engagement. The research participant is 40 people consisting of 29 part-time faculty members and 11 full-time faculty members and is conducted based on both primary and secondary data: primary being results based on circulating a 5-point Likert-scale questionnaire, and secondary being relevant information from online articles, websites, and offline references. This research will use Statistical Software for its analysis; T-Test to compare satisfaction and engagement between part-time and full-time faculty members, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient to find correlation between the two variables. The results indicates that there is a strong, positive correlation between Job Satisfaction and Employee Engagement level as where increases or decreases in satisfaction level were significantly related with increases or decreases in engagement level. Also, socio-demographic differences appeared to not have a significant impact on Faculty Members’ Job Satisfaction level, thereafter their Employee Engagement. The finding of this research is expected to help enhancing SBM ITB knowledge about their faculty members’ job satisfaction level, and be able to increase their engagement level. Key Words: Employee Engagement, Employee Satisfaction, Job Satisfaction, Part-Time, Faculty Member, Minnesota Satisfaction Questionnaire, Gallup Q12, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, T-Test, SPSS, School of Business and Management, Institut Teknologi Bandung

Abstract

Huia masonii (Boulenger, 1884) or Javan Torrent Frog is one of the frogs that are endemic on the island of Java. The presumption of two different forms of Huia's morphology according to Manthey and Dezer’s publication makes a systematic study of these species among their populations necessary. In this study, a systematic study of H.masonii was conducted between populations with a morphological approach to determine differences in character between populations, taxonomic status and phylogeny between populations. A total of 111 adult specimens (62 males and 49 females) from each population with good condition were observed morphologically. Data analysis was performed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and UPGMA Clustering. The results of this study indicate that there are no fundamental differences in the characteristics of each population so that there are no characters that can be used as diagnostic characters. The absence of this diagnostic character also makes the taxonomic status of H. masonii morphologically unchanged. Besides relationship between populations is still close to one another morphologically

Abstract

Early childhood language development is a multifaceted and intricate process that includes the acquisitionof various linguistic components. However, occurrence of language delays or disorders among 3-5-years-old children is a significant challenge that can impede this progression. These delays or disorders can have asignificant impact on word class acquisition, which is a fundamental aspect of language development. Thisstudy aims to elucidate the diverse types of word classes observed in the language acquisition process ofchildren aged 3-5 years in North Aceh. Specifically, the investigation focuses on noun, verb, and adjectiveword classes. Employing a qualitative approach within a descriptive research framework. Thus, variousdata collection techniques including observation, listening, recording, note-taking, and documentation, were utilized in this study. Purposive sampling was employed, resulting in a sample size of 5 participants. These five participants were selected based on their age criteria, research site location, language proficiency, active engagement in interactions, as well as their availability and willingness to participate. The primarydata source encompassed children aged 3-5 years, with a particular emphasis on nouns, verbs, and adjectivesderived from conversational interactions. The results revealed three distinct types of word classes in thelanguage acquisition process of children aged 3-5 years. Firstly, the noun word class encompassed a rangeof entities, such as people, animals, fruits, flowers, food and drinks, tableware, sports equipment, clothing, plants, transportation equipment, and other nouns typically associated with the child’s environment.Secondly, the verb word class comprised verbs accompanied by objects and verbs without objects. Thirdly, the adjective word class characterized the state of nouns or objects, encompassing descriptors relatedto mental attitude, shape, size, color, mileage, temperature and humidity, power of energy, and senseimpressions. This study sheds light on the diverse nature of language learning in children aged 3-5 yearsby evaluating and analyzing these distinct word classes. Equally significant, by examining the linguisticpatterns and structures that emerged during this time period, this study contributes to our understanding of how children acquire language during the preschool years.

Abstract

This research discusses the functions of government in public service delivery and community empowerment based on Ndraha's theory (2003). The primary functions of government include high-quality public services, while secondary functions focus on community empowerment. Law No. 25 of 2009 regulates public complaint mechanisms as a form of public participation to improve service quality. The Jakarta Kini (JAKI) application, developed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, serves as a smart governance-based platform for managing public complaints. JAKI's results indicate a 97.9% resolution rate, with 89% of complaints submitted through the application. Challenges such as digital literacy and technical issues need to be addressed to ensure JAKI remains effective in achieving transparent, responsive public services based on good governance principles.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe effectiveness of zakat and taxes in reducing economic inequality in Indonesia. Zakat and taxes are two different financial instruments, where zakat is part of Islamic teachings which aims to clean up wealth and help those in need, while taxes are mandatory contributions to the state which are used to finance various public needs. This study uses quantitative and qualitative approaches to analyze data related to income distribution, the level of economic inequality, and the influence of zakat and taxes on this inequality in Indonesia. The research results show that both instruments have an important role in reducing economic inequality, but have different effectiveness depending on several factors, such as government policy, fund management, and the level of community compliance. Zakat shows significant potential in reducing inequality directly through distribution to mustahik (zakat recipients), while taxes have a broader role in redistributing income through public spending aimed at development and social services. This research also identifies several challenges in the implementation of zakat and the taxation system in Indonesia, including collection, administration and distribution problems. In addition, this study provides recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of these two instruments in reducing economic inequality, including improving regulations, increasing transparency, and synergy between zakat institutions and tax institutions  .

Abstract

Abstract

Prosomi is one of the MSMEs located in Majakerta Village, Balongan District, Indramayu Regency, which processes mangoes into syrup and juice products, and there are fish ball MSMEs that use local seafood. Although these two MSMEs have significant potential, they are still not well known by the people of Indramayu Regency due to the lack of a strong visual identity and limited promotional efforts. Therefore, a strong brand identity development is necessary to attract consumer attention and increase awareness of the Mango Syrup and Fish Meatball products. The main goal of this design project is to create a stronger and more professional brand identity by designing banners, logos, and packaging that can represent the values and character of Prosomi Mango Syrup and Fish Meatballs, with the hope of strengthening the product's position in the market and enhancing its competitiveness among consumers.

Abstract

This qualitative study analysed how aspects of critical consciousness in students played a role in the issue of sexual violence in a higher education institution. This research involved students, lecturers, and elements of higher education leaders of a university in Aceh, Indonesia. For the data collection method, the researchers used semi-structured interviews. The data was analysed using thematic analysis with the utilization of critical consciousness and student agency concept as the theoretical frameworks. This study found that aspects of critical consciousness played a significant role in dealing with sexual violence issues in university. Without critical consciousness, students would potentially err in analysing the issue of sexual violence. Aspects of students' critical consciousness were also influenced by the structure or discourse of higher education in viewing sexual violence. The tendency of campus to be more concerned with its good reputation also exacerbated the handling and prevention of sexual violence cases. The implication of this research is the finding that critical consciousness and institutional structure influence each other, both positively and negatively. To deal with sexual violence, a university must promote critical consciousness among students and academics, create pro survivors’ discourse and underpin students' agency, and most importantly, strive to cultivate gender equity perspective among university leaders. Future research should focus on investigating effective pedagogy to nurture critical consciousness for supporting the anti-sexual violence agenda in a higher education institution
