Abstract

Dental caries is a disease experienced by almost 90% of children. The results of the 2018 Basic Health Research show an increase of around 40% in the rate of dental and oral health problems in South Kalimantan compared to the 2013 Riskesdas. Where the rate of dental and oral health problems in South Kalimantan in 2013 was 36.1%, increasing to 59.60% in 2018. This activity aims to increase dental and oral health knowledge and tooth brushing skills, improve dental and oral hygiene, reduce the rate of dental caries. The targets of this community service are students at SDN Pekauman 2 Martapura. The implementation of community service activities consists of several stages, namely: Preparation stage, implementation stage and evaluation stage. At the implementation stage, dental health education and mass toothbrush assistance were carried out. The results obtained increased knowledge about dental health from medium to high criteria.

Abstract

Peran saliva dalam proses karies berkaitan dengan demineralisasi dan remineralisasi jaringan keras gigi (email). Komponen yang terkandung dalam saliva dapat menyebabkan larutnya permukaan keras gigi (demineralisasi). Apabila ph dalam rongga mulut <5,5 akan memudahkan pertumbuhan bakteri asidogenik seperti Streptococcus Mutans dan Lactobacillus yang merupakan mikroorganisme penyebab utama dalam proses terjadinya karies. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh berkumur dengan infused water buah anggur merah (vitis vinifera) terhadap pH saliva pada murid usia 9-12 tahun di SD Negeri Dalam Pagar Ulu 2 Kecamatan Martapura Timur Kabupaten Banjar. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen semu dengan rancangan penelitian yang digunakan adalah one group pretest posttest. Sampel diambil dengan teknik total sampling yaitu berjumlah 32 sampel di SD Negeri Dalam Pagar Ulu 2 Kecamatan Martapura Timur Kabupaten Banjar serta uji statistik menggunakan uji paired sample t-Test. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan pH saliva sebelum berkumur dengan infused water buah anggur merah (vitis vinifera) adalah 6,3 sedangkan pH saliva sesudah berkumur dengan infused water buah anggur merah (vitis vinifera) adalah 7,2. Berdasarkan uji statistik pada kolom sig (2-tailed) nilai p sebesar 0,00 (p<0,05). Kesimpulan penelitian ada pengaruh berkumur dengan infused water buah anggur merah (vitis vinifera) terhadap pH saliva pada murid usia 9-12 tahun di SD Negeri Dalam Pagar Ulu 2 Kecamatan Martapura Timur Kabupaten Banjar. Disarankan siswa dapat menggunakan infused water buah anggur merah sebagai obat kumur yang dapat meningkatkan pH saliva.   Kata Kunci : Infused water buah anggur merah, pH saliva

Abstract

The majority of the Indonesian population has good daily tooth-brushing behavior at 94.7%. However, only 2.8% of them brush their teeth at the correct time at least twice a day, after breakfast and before bed. Lack of dental and oral health knowledge is one of the factors contributing to oral health problems. Dental and oral health knowledge should be imparted at a young age because children begin to comprehend the significance of health and the prohibitions or behaviors that can negatively affect their teeth. Therefore, promoting dental and oral health is necessary. This research aims to determine the effect of counseling using Pop-up Book on knowledge of how to brush teeth in IV class at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Swasta Iqdamul Ulum Banjar Regency. Quasi-experiment research was employed with a control group pretest-posttest design. The research sample consisted of 47 students using total sampling. The research findings demonstrated that the average knowledge score was 7.92 before counseling using Pop-Up Book and 12.67 after counseling. Paired Sample T-Test results showed that ρ-value 0.000 < α = 0.05, so Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. This research concludes that counselling using Pop-Up Book has an effect on the students' knowledge of how to brush their teeth in IV class at Madrasah Ibtaiyah Swasta Iqdamul Ulum Banjar Regency. It is recommended that health workers, particularly those in the dental and oral health field, conduct promotional activities for students at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, including continuous counselling using interesting and not monotonous media to increase students’ knowledge.

Abstract

Abstract: Plaque left untreated can lead to the occurrence of dental caries and tartar, which is a hardened form of plaque. Plaque control can be attained through a combination of mechanical and chemical methods, such as chewing fresh and fibrous fruits. Fruits are good for dental and oral health and also serve as natural cleaners for teeth. Data from the Martapura East Community Health Center indicates a relatively high incidence of dental caries at SMP Negeri 1 Martapura East based on the results of sampled students examined. Out of 140 students examined, 81 students were found to have dental caries. This study aims to determine the effect of chewing pineapple (Ananas Comosus) on Plaque scores among Grade IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Martapura East. This type of research is a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test post-test one group design. The sample was taken using Total Sampling Technique with a sample size of 45 students. This study uses statistical tests, namely the Paired Sample T-test. The research results showed that the average Plaque score before chewing pineapple (Ananas Comosus) was 3.61, and after chewing pineapple, it was 1.42, with an average decrease in Plaque score of 2.19. The paired sample t-test indicates that the null hypothesis is rejected, thus accepting the alternative hypothesis , indicating an influence before and after chewing pineapple. In conclusion, there is an effect before and after chewing pineapple (Ananas Comosus) on Plaque scores among Grade IX students at SMP Negeri 1 Martapura East. It is recommended to chew pineapple as often as possible to reduce Plaque scores, as pineapple serves as an alternative to clean food from the tooth surface.
