Additionally, integrating traditional games into murals helps reduce children's dependency on digital devices while promoting a healthier and more active lifestyle. Moreover, floor murals provide a creative and immersive educational experience, allowing students to learn through play. They contribute to cognitive and motor development by encouraging strategic thinking, teamwork, and rule comprehension. However, challenges such as material durability, mural maintenance, and the role of educators in facilitating student engagement need to be carefully considered to ensure long-term effectiveness. Collaboration between schools, local communities, and artists is essential to sustain the impact of this initiative. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of incorporating cultural heritage into educational settings through innovative methods. Floor murals can serve as a sustainable solution for preserving traditional games, enriching the school environment, and fostering a strong cultural identity among students.

Abstract

Problems: Much research on physical fitness remains focused on conventional sports, while the potential of traditional dance movements in enhancing balance and flexibility has been insufficiently investigated scientifically. In Indonesia, particularly South Kalimantan, traditional dances such as Baksa Kembang Dance and Radap Rahayu Dance possess movement characteristics that theoretically can train postural control and joint mobility, yet their physical fitness effects remain undocumented in the scientific literature. Purpose: This review aims to examine the contribution of traditional dance movements to balance and flexibility and to identify research gaps in South Kalimantan traditional dances. Methods: This study employed a narrative literature review design. Systematic searches were conducted across Scopus, Web of Science, and SINTA databases for publications from 2010–2025 using keywords related to traditional dance, balance, and flexibility. Articles meeting inclusion criteria were peer-reviewed publications in English or Indonesian that investigated the effects of traditional dance on physical fitness components. Data were extracted and synthesized thematically. Results: The review findings demonstrate that traditional dance training programs consistently improve static and dynamic balance, muscular flexibility, and joint mobility, particularly among elderly populations. Underlying mechanisms include neuromuscular adaptation, sensorimotor integration, and strengthening of supporting muscles. However, the literature search identified a complete absence of empirical studies specifically investigating South Kalimantan traditional dances. Most evidence derives from Greek, Thai, Chinese traditional dances, and Balinese Lègong dance. Some studies show inconsistent results regarding flexibility and body composition, possibly due to heterogeneity in intervention design and participant characteristics. Conclusion: Traditional dance movements possess significant potential as holistic and culturally sensitive physical fitness interventions, and can be integrated into physical education programs and community health promotion. However, rigorous empirical research is urgently needed to investigate the specific fitness effects of South Kalimantan traditional dances to strengthen the evidence base and facilitate scientifically grounded practical application.

Abstract

Background: Physical literacy (PL) is internationally recognised as a foundational concept in physical education, supporting lifelong engagement in physical activity. However, how PL is conceptualised, assessed, and implemented within Indonesian school contexts remains unclear, and no systematic synthesis of existing national research has been conducted. Objective: This study aimed to systematically review and synthesise empirical research on physical literacy in Indonesia, with particular attention to conceptual frameworks, assessment approaches, and implementation practices in school-aged populations. Methods:  A PRISMA-guided systematic literature review was conducted using Scopus, PubMed, OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, DOAJ, and Garuda databases. Studies published between 2020 and 2024 were screened, yielding 5,056 records, of which 20 met the inclusion criteria. Data were analysed using narrative synthesis across key thematic domains. Finding/Results: Most studies focused on primary school students and conceptualised physical literacy primarily through fundamental motor skills. Multidimensional PL frameworks encompassing motivation, confidence, knowledge, and lifelong engagement were rarely applied. Assessment methods were highly heterogeneous and lacked standardised, culturally adapted instruments. Although school-based interventions demonstrated short-term improvements in motor competence and physical activity, broader affective and cognitive dimensions of PL were largely neglected. Key challenges included limited teacher understanding of PL and the absence of explicit integration within the national curriculum. Conclusion: Physical literacy research in Indonesia remains fragmented and predominantly skill-oriented, with limited alignment to holistic PL principles. There is a clear need for culturally relevant frameworks, validated assessment tools, and strengthened teacher professional development. Future research should adopt comprehensive PL models and examine long-term, multidimensional interventions to better support children’s physical, cognitive, and affective development.

Abstract

Background: Bullying remains a critical issue affecting youth development in Indonesia, with a notable increase in reported cases between 2020 and 2023, particularly in junior high schools. Despite various large-scale interventions, bullying prevention embedded in the learning process itself—especially at the classroom level—has received limited attention. This study addresses the gap by exploring how learning-based strategies can serve as foundational solutions for broader bullying prevention efforts. Research Objectives: This systematic literature review aims to identify effective strategies for bullying prevention within both physical education (PE) and general education subjects, focusing on learning approaches that foster safe and inclusive classroom environments. Methods: A systematic review methodology was employed using the Publish or Perish application to extract data from CrossRef, Google Scholar, and Scopus. The PICO framework guided the research question, while the PRISMA flowchart structured the selection process. Finding/Results: From an initial pool of 2,799 articles, 10 met the inclusion criteria for qualitative synthesis. The analysis reveals that bullying prevention has been implemented through subject-integrated strategies in PE, civics, Islamic education, and social studies. Cooperative learning models have proven especially effective in PE, while general subjects have benefited from the integration of affective values (e.g., Islamic and Pancasila values) with cooperative approaches such as Numbered Heads Together (NHT), Student Teams–Achievement Division (STAD), and Jigsaw. Conclusion: The findings suggest that integrating cooperative learning with affective value education is a promising strategy for bullying prevention across subjects. Such approaches not only reduce bullying but also promote character education and social interaction. This review underscores the need for further research to expand these strategies and address bullying as a complex, global challenge.
