Abstract

Stereotypw is a process of social clarification carried out by some groups towards other groups by simplifying or generalizing signs, either explicitly or implicitly presenting decision values, or assumptions centered on behavior, characteristics or past history. In the process of social interaction at the Mess Cendrawasih, there are very diverse cultural differences between Javanese, Batak, Palembang and Papuan tribes, which results in intercultural communication barriers in the form of stereotypes. The theory used is the uncertainty reduction theory of Charles Berger and Richard Calabrese. This research uses a qualitative approach with interview data collection techniques. The research results found that the social interactions that occurred at the Mess Cendrawasih resulted in positive stereotypes which were manifested in helpful behavior and polite attitudes. Meanwhile negative stereotypes are manifested in high temperamental behavior (cheap easily), drunkards and gamblers. The stereotypes experienced by Papuan people are not categorized as stereotypes on a large scale so that they do not cause discrimination and also do not disturb the harmony of diverse cultures. Keywords: stereotypes, uncertainty reduction theory, intercultural communication

Abstract

This study explores students' perspectives on the role of social media and artificial intelligence (AI) in verifying information while also addressing the ethical implications of using AI to combat disinformation. Conducted with 70 participants using a qualitative approach, the research relied on interviews to gain a thorough understanding of students' attitudes and viewpoints. The findings reveal that most students rely on social media to verify information and hold an optimistic view of AI's capabilities. However, concerns regarding ethical risks and diverse opinions emphasize the need for greater awareness and training in utilizing technology to combat disinformation effectively. The study highlights that students actively apply various aspects of media literacy in navigating digital information. They interpret and decode messages, assess their authenticity, classify AI as a valuable tool, recognize potential ethical risks, and exhibit an overall critical awareness of online content. These insights underscore the importance of fostering media literacy and ethical understanding in the digital age to manage information responsibly.

Abstract

This study explores the spiritual, social, and moral significance of pilgrimages to the tombs of Islamic saints within the broader landscape of religious tradition. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, the research uncovers that pilgrimages are not merely ritual acts but serve as deeply personal journeys akin to Hajj, Hijrah, and Rihlah. The findings reveal that pilgrimage fosters an elevation of religious consciousness, strengthens faith, and provides spiritual equilibrium amid the complexities of life. Furthermore, the act of ziarah facilitates silaturrahmi—a spiritual networking process that reinforces communal ties and moral values. Through the interaction between the pilgrim and the Divine, pilgrimage emerges as a vital practice that enriches both individual spirituality and collective ethical culture.Keyword: Meaning, Spiritual Value, Pilgrim
