Abstract

Background. Chat GPT is a natural language model developed by OpenAI, based on the GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformer) architecture. It is renowned for its ability to generate text that closely resembles human writing, including in chat and conversational interactions. In the growing digital era, artificial intelligence technology is increasingly playing an important role in various fields, including education. Purpose. This study aims to identify the benefits of using Chat GPT in learning in higher education and how its use can improve the quality of learning, accelerate the assessment process, increase student engagement, improve teaching efficiency, and facilitate student understanding. Method. The research method used is quantitative by using google form which will produce data in the form of numbers. By using google form, a questionnaire will be made and distributed to students in higher education. Results. The results show that the use of Chat GPT has significant benefits in learning in higher education. The use of Chat GPT can improve the quality of learning, accelerate the assessment process, increase student engagement, and improve teaching efficiency. Conclusion. The conclusion from this study is that the use of Chat GPT in a college setting can be beneficial in supporting learning in an innovative and effective way. However, the limitation of this study is that the researcher was only able to conduct a study of a few students in higher education. Therefore, the researcher hopes that future research can be conducted with a wider scope. The researcher also recommends that future research can be a reference material in conducting research related to the utilisation of Chat GPT in supporting learning in higher education.

Abstract

Grammar Translation Method (GTM) is a language learning method that focuses on understanding grammar and translating texts from a foreign language to the mother tongue, and vice versa. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Grammar Translation Method in teaching grammar concepts, especially tenses, in EFL (English as a Foreign Language) classes, especially at Star English Course Parepare. The research method used is quantitative survey. The samples of this research were students from Level 4 (Advance 1 and Advance 2) Star English Course Parepare. In this research, the researcher used total sampling techniques and took 70 students as sample. The data collection technique used a questionnaire with hypothesis testing carried out by using simple linear regression analysis using the SPSS 25 program. The results of the research show that Grammar Translation Method has a significant influence on students' difficulties in learning tenses. Seen from the Tcount value of 9,755 > T-table 1,995 with a significance of 0,007 < 0,05. Statistical test results show that Grammar Translation Method has a positive and significant impact on students' learning difficulties. And psychological factor is the most influential aspects of students’ difficulties in learning tenses through Grammar Translation Method. Fear of making mistakes, lack of confidence, and linguistic anxiety are the main obstacles in the learning process. Therefore, there is a need for a more varied, communicative, and student-centered approach in learning Tenses.

Abstract

Era digital dalam dunia Pendidikan semakin berkembang sehingga menuntut Guru dan siswa yang ada disekolah untuk semakin cakap dalam literasi digital. Guru dituntut untuk semakin kreatif dan terampil dalam menghadirkan pembelajaran yang berbasis digital khususnya pada saat melakukan evaluasi pembelajaran. Berbagai pihak termasuk Fakultas Pendidikan dan Keguruan atau Fakultas Tarbiyah wajib membekali mahasiswa dengan berbagai aplikasi digital. Oleh karena itu pelatihan ini bertujuan untuk membekali mahasiswa Fakultas Tarbiyah khususnya Program studi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris IAIN Parepare untuk memperkuat kemampuan digital assessment melalui pemanfaatan aplikasi quizizz. Metode yang digunakan adalah pemaparan materi, Praktik quizizz dan Forum group discussion (FGD) yang dilaksanakan selama 2 hari. Hasil dari pelatihan ini terlihat dengan mampunya mahasiswa dalam membuat sejumlah soal berbasis aplikasi quizizz. Peserta merasa puas setelah melakukan pelatihan ini dimana mereka merespon positif apabila nantinya aplikasi quizizz ini bisa diterapkan di sekolah pada saat mereka menjadi seorang guru dan pada saat mereka akan melaksanakan kegiatan Praktik lapangan disekolah.
