Abstract

One of the efforts to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus is to spray disinfectants around their living environment. In this service activity, the service team divided the activities into several stages, namely (1) socialization of activities; (2) implementation of activities; and (3) activity evaluation. Socialization of activities carried out to provide information to the public about activities. The implementation of the activity begins with assistance in making disinfectants and continues with spraying disinfectants into public areas and residents' homes. The service activity was closed with an activity evaluation meeting which concluded that the spraying of disinfectants as an effort to prevent covid-19 could run well through a community empowerment program in Kupang Village, Ambarawa District.

Abstract

Background: Chicken feathers can be used as an alternative treatment for metal ions in wastewater with a concentration of lead nitrate. This paper will describe the ability of chicken feathers that were activated by only Sodium hydroxide and by Sodium hydroxide with Hydrochloric acid based on some variation of the weight of chicken feathers to reduce the concentration of lead nitrate and subsequently, characterizing the spectral outcomes. Method: A quasi-experimental research with pre-test post-tests equivalent control groups design will be done. The purposive sampling consists of aqueous Pb(NO3)2 and chicken feathers are used. The 5 mg/L Pb solution was made from Pb(NO3)2 whose levels had been tested with AAS and were detected at 4.183 mg/L. Variations in chicken feather mass of 1.4 grams; 1.5 grams; 1.6 grams; and 1.7 grams were tested. Result: Based on the activation treatment, chicken feathers with a weight of 1.7 grams activated by sodium hydroxide have the highest ability to adsorb aqueous lead nitrate. The spectra match the functional groups of keratin. Conclusion: Activation using sodium hydroxide has reached a high adsorption presentation capacity. The spectral results match the functional groups of keratin C-H, C-O, N-H2 groups.

Abstract

The personal hygiene practices of female students during menstruation at the Aisyiyah Pucang Gading Orphanage remain inadequate. Therefore, a community service program focusing on personal hygiene education during menstruation is essential to improve their health. The method employed involved participatory lectures supported by animated video presentations, games, and quizzes. The materials provided covered puberty education, an explanation of menstruation, including practices for maintaining hygiene during menstruation, and proper methods for disposing of sanitary pads. The results of the educational session revealed high enthusiasm and an increase in the students' understanding. Monthly monitoring and evaluation will be conducted to track progress and outcomes. Thus, the implementation of this educational program has successfully achieved its objectives, and further research is recommended to develop methods, outcomes, and knowledge related to this topic.

Abstract

Kata kunci: hipertensi, lansia, posyandu ___________________________________________________________________ Abstract Background: Hypertension is a prevalent health issue in Indonesia and represents one of the leading causes of morbidity worldwide. The symptoms of hypertension are often challenging to identify or may even be absent. According to the 2018 Basic Health Research, the prevalence of hypertension is 34.11%. Preventive measures can be implemented early through self-monitoring or visits to community health posts (Posyandu). The elderly health post in Madusari Village is not functioning effectively due to low attendance, primarily because of the challenging terrain. As a result, elderly individuals must be transported to participate in health screenings at the health post. Objective: Hypertension prevention is essential in certain areas, particularly in Madusari Village, Temanggung Regency, due to the low interest among the elderly in undergoing health examinations at local Posyandu. Method: The community service approach employed consisted of lectures and interactive discussions. Result: Thirty-two elderly individuals attended the hypertension education session in Madusari Village. Pre-test and post-test results showed a significant difference with a p-value of 0.000, indicating a notable improvement in knowledge regarding hypertension following the educational session. Conclusion: The elderly participants demonstrated a clear understanding of hypertension, as evidenced by the increased average scores from the pre-test to the post-test.
