Abstract

This research aims to improve speaking skills through the Listen-Read-Discuss learning model for class IV students at SDN 2 Batuputih. This research is class action research (Class Action Reasech) which consists of two cycles. Each cycle consists of three meetings. The research procedure includes four stages, namely planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The subjects of this research were 22 grade IV students at SDN 2 Batuputih. Data collection techniques consist of observation, tests, documentation. The instruments used in this research were observation sheets and student assessment sheets. The research results showed that in the first cycle, which was completed individually, of the 22 students, only 12 students met the minimum completion criteria (KKM) or were in the low category. Classically it has not been fulfilled because the average value obtained was 69.3. Meanwhile, in cycle II, out of 22 students, 20 students had fulfilled the KKM and classically had been fulfilled, namely the average score obtained was 81 or was in the good or high category. Based on the results of the research above, it can be concluded that the speaking skills of class IV students at SDN 2 Batuputih through the Listen-Read-Discuss learning model have improved.

Abstract

The main problem in this research is the lack of short story writing skills in class V students at SD Inpres Kampung Parang, Eremerasa District, Bantaeng Regency. So the researchers used Bolding media (rolling balls). This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Bolding media (rolling balls) on the short story writing skills of class V students at SD Inpres Kampung Parang, Eremerasa District, Bantaeng Regency. The type of research used is an experiment in the form of Pre-Experimental Design. The data source in this research was 15 class V students at SD Inpres Kampung Parang, Eremerasa District, Bantaeng Regency. Data collection was carried out using the results of the assessment of short story writing skills. The data obtained was then analyzed using statistical analysis techniques, namely descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. After analyzing the data, researchers found that student learning outcomes before using Bolding (rolling ball) learning media were relatively low, namely the average score of the Pre-test results was 58 .33, then the average value of the Post-test results is 85.67. After obtaining tCount 9.223 and tTable 2.14479, we get tCount > tTable or 9.223>2.14479. Based on the results of tCount and tTable, it can be said that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. This means that the use of Bolding (rolling ball) learning media is effective on short story writing skills for class V elementary school. Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian eksperimen dengan menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif. Desain penelitian yang digunakan quasi experimental design dengan bentuk nonequivalent control group design yaitu dengan pemberian pretest sebelum perlakuan dan setelah perlakuan dilanjutkan dengan diberi tes posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini seluruh siswa kelas 5 SD Negeri Alluka Kabupaten Gowa yaitu 30 siswa dengan sampel 15 siswa pada kelas eksperimen dan 15 siswa pada kelas kontrol. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah observasi, pretest,posttest dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata skor hasil pretest sebelum diberi perlakuan pada siswa kelas kontrol sebesar 56,00 dan siswa kelas eksperimen sebesar 58,00. Sedangkan berdasarkan hasil rata-rata posttest setelah diberi perlakuan pada siswa kelas kontrol sebesar 57,67 dan pada siswa kelas eksperimen 69,00 dengan hasil tersebut maka data analisis dengan menggunakan uji t sampel independent diperoleh sig (2-tailed) sebesar 0,010<0,05 menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata pada kedua kelas dengan thitung 2,488 taraf signifikansi α = 0,05 sehingga diperoleh ttabel yaitu 2.04841 (thitung > ttabel) dengan demikian H0 ditolak dan H1 diterima. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian di atas, dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penguasaan diksi terhadap kemampuan kemampuan menulis puisi baru pada kelas 5 di SD Negeri Alluka Kabupaten Gowa.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of using smart bottle media assisted by the talking stick method on the speaking ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Pao-Pao. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design using the One Group Pretest–Posttest model, involving 28 students as the research sample. Data were collected through speaking ability tests administered before and after the treatment (pre-test and post-test) and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results showed that the use of smart bottle media assisted by the talking stick method improved students’ speaking ability, as indicated by the increase in the mean score from 48.41 in the pre-test (low category) to 86.14 in the post-test (high category). Furthermore, the results of the Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant difference between the pre-test and post-test scores. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of smart bottle media assisted by the talking stick method has a significant effect on improving the speaking ability of fourth-grade students at SD Negeri Pao-Pao.
