Abstract

Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve is one of the conservation sites geographically located at Parigi Moutong District Central Sulawesi Province. The reserve is known to be the host of many protected species of flora and fauna including orchids. However, species richness of orchids decreased over time due to habitat degradation as well collection for commercial purposes as ornamental type of vegetation to improve community’s income. This research was to endeavor characteristics of the host trees for the orchids living in the reserve. The research was conducted from November 2014 to January 2015 using line transect methods. Transects were placed on the line purposively. Observation transects form were Quadratic with size of 20 m x 20 m. The research (applying 5 observation plots) revealed that there were 12 tree species that function as host. In general, most orchids like to have host with thick bark, coarse and scratches as well as wide canopy to cover orchids reproduction. Interestingly, it was found that each host has different orchid species (12 species). Keywords: host tree characteristics, orchids, Pangi Binangga Nature Reserve

Abstract

Nepenthes spp. is a species of vegetation lives in nature and known to be currently threatened. The species is unique for being the prey of insects. The lack of information regarding its distribution on Lore Lindu National Park (LLNP) lead this research to study such the issue. The research aims to study the distribution of the species living within the park particularly on the Rorekautimbu Mount. The results of the research is expected to enrich information regarding flora and fauna database to improve conservation program lead by the LLNP. The research was conducted from March – May 2014 located on trekking lane of The Rorekautimbu Mount. Purposive sampling method was applied during the research. Data regarding coordinate, elevation and the number of individuals were collected through direct observation using transect of 10 m x 10 m each plot. During the research, three species of nepenthes were found. They were N. maxima Rein. ex Nees, N. tentaculata Hook.f., and N. pitopangii Lee. They were identified at the elevation of 1,800 – 2,330 MSL and contagiously distributed based on Morisita Index (Iδ) with Ip > 0. The distribution pattern of the three species listed above can be described as, respecively, Ip > 0.5526, Ip > 0.4846, and Ip > 0.4267. Abstract

Forests are generally known as a resource that is very unique because of the processes of interaction between various constituent components. Every form of forest ecosystem has different capabilities in terms of meeting their needs for environmental conditions including climate. Indonesia is a country that holds the wealth of the largest orchid germplasm in the world. Indonesia has around 6,000 species out of 26,000 world orchid plants. The purpose of the study was to determine the species diversity of orchids in the captivity of Ampera and Karunia Villages, which are found in 6 Sigi Public High Schools and one of the private captives owned by Mr. Sardin. Data collection techniques are carried out in two ways, namely primary data and secondary data. To find out the types of natural orchids found in the captivity of Ampera Village and Karunia Village, Palolo District, Sigi District, descriptive data analysis was used. While to find out the diversity of natural orchid species analyzed using the Shannon-Wienner (H ') Diversity formula. The results showed that the diversity of natural orchid species in the middle of Ampera and Karunia villages was high, with a species diversity index (H ') of 3.25.Keywords: analysis diversity index

Abstract

Sulawesi is the largest island in the central Wallacea region, so Sulawesi has a high level of diversity, both flora and fauna. Forest products are divided into two forest products consisting of wood and non-wood, one of the non-wood forest products is the orchid plant. (Pasimbong, 2013). Natural orchids are a group of plants that have not received much attention, in Sulawesi where information and publications on these various orchids have not been abundant. This study was conducted to determine the type of orchid at several altitudes in the Lore lindu National Park area in Karunia Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency. This research will be conducted from April to June 2017, located in the Lore Lindu National Park area in Karunia Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency. The study was conducted using the method of Identification of the diversity of orchid species at several altitudes in the forest area of the recipient village. The determination of the sampling was done intentionally (purposive sampling), each plot was taken at the location and provided for access (access). The results showed facts of orchid species in Karunia Village. There were 18 species found in the study sites in four areas of the Lore Lindu National Park Area in Karunia Village, Palolo Subdistrict, Sigi Regency. The highest value is based on 2,756 and the one with the highest H 'value is Spathoglotis plicata, with a value of H' = 0.2581.
