Abstract

Education and health care for diabetes mellitus in Environment Objective: This implementation is to increase knowledge and health care about diabetes mellitus in Environment XIX, Tanjung Mulia Hilir Village, Medan Deli District. Health promotion for diabetes mellitus (DM) focuses on empowering individuals and communities to make sustainable lifestyle changes that prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes and effectively manage existing diabetes to minimize complications. This method involves a multifaceted approach that includes: 1). Prevention, namely increasing awareness by educating the public about diabetes risk factors (such as obesity, lack of physical activity, unhealthy eating patterns, family history) and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Encourage regular screening for early diagnosis, especially for those with risk factors. Promote healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, and maintaining a healthy weight. Expected Outcome: increasing public awareness of diabetes risk factors (such as obesity, lack of physical activity, unhealthy diet, family history) and promoting healthy lifestyle choices. As well as the existence of guidelines for healthy eating and physical activity. Mechanisms for solving problems and overcoming them.

Abstract

Postoperative nausea and vomiting is one of the common side effects of spinal anesthesia. Nausea and vomiting affect patient morbidity such as stress, discomfort, dehydration, prolonging treatment time and increasing treatment costs. This study aims to determine the effect of acupressure therapy on the incidence of nausea and vomiting after spinal anesthesia in the recovery room of the Imelda Labor Indonesia General Hospital, Medan. This type of research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental research method. Data reports in the province of North Sumatra, there are 25,602 patients undergoing surgery. While at the Umim Labor Indonesia Hospital, Medan, the data on surgical patients as of January-March 2024 amounted to 666 patients, 250 patients were found to have spinal anesthesia. This study was conducted in February - June 2024 at the Imelda Labor Indonesia General Hospital, Medan. A sample of 20 respondents was taken.: The results of the statistical test obtained an α value of 0.000 (α <0.05), thus it was concluded that there was an effect of acupressure therapy on the incidence of nausea and vomiting after spinal anesthesia at the Imelda Labor Indonesia General Hospital, Medan. Based on the characteristics of respondents based on age, they were in the age range of 36-40 years, which was 55%, based on gender, the majority of respondents were women, which was 60%, respondents based on a history of smoking were 65%, the distribution of respondents with a history of nausea and vomiting was 55% and the majority of respondents with an incidence of nausea and vomiting was 60%. The recommendation for this study is that acupressure therapy can be applied in nursing practice so that patients are able to do it independently. For the Imelda Labor Indonesia General Hospital, Medan, it is necessary to carry out a risk scoring of nausea and vomiting in patients before surgery to minimize the incidence of nausea and vomiting after surgery.

Abstract

Kidney failure is one of the diseases that increases every year and becomes a major health problem in the world, the occurrence of failure is a risk of heart and blood vessel disease and increases morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to determine the experience of dialysis patients' families in helping to prepare food at home. The research method used was a qualitative descriptive study. The location of this study was carried out in the Hemodialysis Room of the Imelda Buruh Indonesia General Hospital, Medan . The time of this study conducted in March to July 2024. The number of participants in this study was 6 participants . Research data were collected through in-depth interviews with participants and analyzed thematically. The results of the study consisted of 3 (three) themes, namely: (1) Eating habits , (2) obstacles or challenges in preparing food, (3) family support for patients. The conclusion of this study is that all participants expressed that the eating patterns of patients with hemodialysis therapy showed normal eating patterns, but when hemodialysis was carried out, patients felt weak and their appetite decreased, but all patients still ate 3 times a day in small portions . Overall, participants provided strong support for patients, both moral support, material in efforts to provide patient food needs, reminding patients to eat regularly according to doctor's recommendations, and faithfully accompanying them during hemodialysis. Although obstacles and challenges were found from both patients and families in overall food management, they could be overcome.

Abstract

Stroke is a disease that most often causes disability in the form of paralysis of the limbs, speech disorders, thought processes, memory, and other forms of disability as impaired brain function. In general, people think that stroke is a disease that only occurs in middle age and old age. In fact, 10% of strokes occur at a relatively young age (less than 45 years). But now there is also a trend in patients under 45 years of age. According to WHO in 2012, 51% of deaths from stroke worldwide are caused by high blood pressure. Based on the results of the 2013 Riskesdas, the prevalence of stroke in Indonesia increases with age. The highest cases of stroke diagnosed by health workers were 75 years and over (43.1%) and the lowest were in the age group 15-24 years (0.2%). The prevalence of stroke based on gender is higher for males (7.1%) than for females (6.8%). Based on place of residence, the prevalence of stroke in urban areas is higher (8.2%) compared to rural areas (5.7%). This research was conducted in May 2017 which was descriptive in nature with the aim of getting an overview of the factors that influence the occurrence of stroke in early adulthood at the Imelda general hospital, Indonesian workers in Medan. This research technique used a sample method of 30 respondents. The results of this study showed that the most influential risk factors for the incidence of stroke in early adulthood were lifestyle, namely eating and drinking habits (89.1%), hypertension (84.3%), family history (84.3%) , obesity (83%), smoking (67.6%), and physical activity (30%). Eating and drinking habits have a high influence, because in their daily lives they consume the foods they like and what they want to eat without thinking that these foods are at risk of causing degenerative diseases. factors that influence the occurrence of stroke in early adulthood, so that the family's knowledge of stroke patients increases.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease in the form of a metabolic disorder characterized by blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. Diabetes Mellitus is known as a silent killer because it is often not realized by the sufferer and when it is known, complications have occurred. The method used in this research is the Quasy Experiment method using a pre-test and post-test approach with control group design. The population in this study was 40 respondents and the sample in this study was 20 respondents who were taken by purposive sampling. And analyzed Univariate and Bivariate using the Wilcoxon and Mann Whitney tests to determine the differences between the two groups on the effect of acupressure therapy. The results showed that the effect of acupressure therapy on reducing blood sugar levels was p-value = 0.005 <0.05 it can be concluded that there is an effect of acupressure therapy on reducing blood sugar levels in Type II DM patients at the Poliklinik Rumah Sakit Umum Imelda Pekerja Indonesia Medan. It is suggested that the results of this study are expected to be information for diabetes mellitus patients to independently carry out acupressure therapy and for the Indonesian Imelda Workers Hospital to include elements of acupressure therapy as study material in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
