Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the meaning of the fear of God in Proverbs 1:7. The research method in writing this scientific paper is a qualitative method, namely with the Reader Response Criticism (PRC) approach. Based on the results of the author's interview that has been conducted with 10 Alpha Generation Children at GKPPD Kuta Kerangan who became informants for research in the field, it can be seen that in the initial discussion there were 4 out of 10 informants, 40% of whom the author interviewed had read the text, and 2 out of 10 informants, 20% had read the text for the first time. There are 4 out of 10 informants, 40% of whom have never read the text. Then the author also asks if there is an interesting word in the text of Proverbs 1:7? 7 out of 10 informants responded by saying an interesting word for fear and 3 out of 10 said an interesting word in Proverbs 1:7 for fool. The author can conclude that there are 4 out of 10 informants, 40% who are quite diligent in worshiping and participating in church activities (PA), and 6 out of 10 informants, 60% who are less active in church and worship activities. But in the study, although 4 out of 10 informants who were fairly diligent in worship, it was not determined how he responded to the text correctly, so that 7 out of 10 informants, 70%, only 3 out of 10 informants, 30% responded correctly to the text. The Alpha generation children in Aceh Singkil can be said to not know exactly how to fear God in their lives. As said by Risnawaty Sinulingga (2010) and Matthew Henry (2013) that the fear of God in question is everything that must be known, that God must be respected, served, and worshiped, thus the meaning of fearing God is part of a good character that avoids evil, and obeys His commandments.

The results of the study of the exegesis of Matthew 9:35–38 Jesus' evangelistic mission is to travel, teach, preach the Gospel, heal the sick, Jesus' compassion. From this study also shows that students have understood the essence of Jesus' evangelistic mission theologically. This is influenced by the learning of the Contemporary Missiology course which reveals the basic principles of the mission based on the Gospel of Matthew. However, implementation in the field is still very limited. As many as 70% of the data obtained in this study indicate that students have not yet pursued mission as a calling, but rather as an academic task. Challenges faced in carrying out mission for students of the Theology Study Program at IAKN Tarutung include a lack of self-confidence, an inapplicable curriculum, and low spiritual awareness. This study emphasizes that theological understanding needs to be supported by a curriculum system, spiritual formation, and a contextual service community so that students are able to live out the mission of evangelism comprehensively as exemplified by Jesus Christ.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the perspective of IAKN Tarutung Theology Study Program students regarding tithing through observation and the results of interview discussions with the aim of finding out what IAKN Tarutung Theology Study Program students view regarding the practice of tithing in the church from their perspective. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive analysis and the data source for this research is obtained by observing and conducting interviews with informants. The results of this research state that students of the Lutheran sect (GKPPD, GKPA, HKBP), this denomination have a variety of views regarding tithing, with several churches implementing it, namely: GKPPD and GKPA. and those who don't are HKBP, but all emphasize the importance of tithing as an expression of gratitude for God's commands as written in the Bible. The regulations do not require students to pay tithing, but for those who already have an income, the denomination's dogma applies tithing. Calvinist students have varying perspectives on the practice of tithing, consisting of: GKI, GBKP, GKSBS. Calvinists view that the practice of tithing is not an absolute obligation, but rather a choice in response to God's grace. They prioritize the understanding that tithing is a form of perfection in responding to God's grace, not a rule based on percentages. Meanwhile, Pentecostal students (GBI, GBIS, GPDI) state that tithing is an essential part of spiritual obedience to God. In this sect, tithing is considered a sacred act that sets aside a portion of the blessings received to be offered to God. The offering is one tenth of all the blessings. Uniquely, the GBI and GBIS denominations require mandatory tithing practices for students. Meanwhile, the GPDI denomination does not require students to tithe. Tithing is only required for members of the congregation who have a fixed income.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the equality of men and women in the context of receiving salvation based on Galatians 3:26-29 with relevance for today's church. The research method in writing this scientific work is a qualitative method, namely a descriptive approach. This method is used by the author to find useful materials in accordance with the research objectives. In this research, equality between men and women will be explored in the context of receiving salvation and its relevance for the church today. The result of the exegesis of Galatians 3:26-29 is how humans view the equality of men and women in the context of receiving salvation and its relevance for the church today. As is known, Christians always emphasize that humans, both men and women, have equality in receiving salvation through His Gospel or His Word, namely the Faith and Trust of His people. In this case, it also really depends on the theological interpretation of each church sect, because some sects may emphasize a personal relationship with God as the main way to receive salvation, while there are several church sects that emphasize the role of the church as a community of faith that facilitates spiritual growth and receiving the gift of salvation. Salvation (grace) from God is universal (general). God's action in Jesus Christ has effectively eliminated differences according to Gal. 3:26-29. The good news of salvation is that there is no longer such a thing as a select group, those who hope to receive the benefits of Jesus' Messiahship should be part of every believing people. Salvation in the context of Galatians 3 is through God's promises to His people who believe. Apart from that, the concept of salvation is a primary doctrine that becomes a dogmatic guide for God's church. The church must also see and emulate the equality of men and women in the context of receiving salvation. God emphasizes that all mankind should not do things that God does not want. He hopes that those who come with Him are those who truly believe in their faith. Salvation is given to humans as a form of His goodness to His people who believe through Faith and Actions that are always loyal to Him. Salvation is Grace, meaning that there is only one way to obtain salvation, namely through Jesus Christ. He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” And if you belong to Christ, then you are also Abraham's descendants and have the right to receive God's promises (Gal. 3:29).
